I'd be happy to subscribe to the 'Never goes reet' channel 😂😂
😂🤣 may get a vid out one day where it does go reet 👍🏻
Hi bud. When I place my 3m unistrut into the Channel it doesn't sit flush due to the bow in the roof. Does this go when you bolt it to the roof? Fml 😀
Depending how far you have put it to the rear, the strut should form to the shape of the van roof when bolted 👍🏻
Hi great videos your van is a mwb what size awning did you fit
@@xsrib321 thanks 👍🏻 it was a 3.2m.
Where are you from? I’m from Preston - but been in Seattle since 96. You’re the first person I’ve understood in years! Great video!
Wigan 😁 your the first person who has said they understand me 🤣😂
@@AXISUK 😂😂
Very helpful video. I need to do something similar with my unistrut roof rack. You hinted there was a better way of getting the solar cables into the van other than those stick on cable glands. What was that? - I'm nearly at that stage. Thanks.
Glad it helped 😊 I used the scan strut cable entry units. They are rock solid and look the part 👍🏻
Would it have been possible to bend the 21mm crossrails to suit the roof curve ?
You can bend them but not sure if it would look right curved with panels fitted
Hi Shaun, really great video! We want exactly to do what you have done, just one question: what size of unistrut channel do you suggest to put between the brackets of the awning? I have seen that you have tried to highter it up in order to do not let the horizzontal bars touch the roof. Have you levelled the profile at the rear of the van?
You could probably use the 40mm stuff to save the step up that I did at the rear. Reason I went low was to keep the uni from sticking up at the front. Good luck with the install 👍🏻
@@AXISUK thank you! With the 40mm may I have problem at the front?
@@DaniloeSara possibly depending on the awning bracket. You could do 20mm under awning and 40mm on the opposite side. That way you only need double up under the rear of the awning. It’s the front end that is tight on clearance
Hi, really good instructional video. I'm planning on doing similar on my Sprinter which is also already built and fitted out inside. Have the rivnuts/plusnuts held up ok? It does seem like they would. Thanks
Thanks 😊 yeah solid as a rock. Had a check when I came back from the lakes and still had my panels in situ 🤣
Thank you for the video, just wondering how the Plus Nuts holding?
Looking to do the same on my LWB sprinter just for the awning but have been advised against it.
They are rock solid bud. If you can access inside the roof, then I would bolt the awning down. If you can’t then this is the only way apart from attaching to a roof rack.
No access as already converted.
@@benpinington8202 what was the reason for being advised against?
Due to the load when the awning is out, as not fitting the internal washers meant it wouldn’t spread this
@@benpinington8202 that’s a fair comment for normal rivnuts as you only create a small inner washer, hence why I used the plus nuts. They spread out much wider and give the next best thing to a bolt and washer. 👍🏻
Awnings, roof racks and solar panels are a pain in the backside on these vans...they are bad enough when its a fresh empty van, but once converted🤬....Hats off to you Shaun.
Yep definitely went arse about tit on this install 🤦🏻🤣 finally got there in the end 👍🏻
Hate to be that person iv got the longer rivets you linked below but my sealey tool doesn’t allow for the extra length any clues where to get an longer m8 riv nut nose piece from ?
@@benrowe681 good question 🤔 have you tried Amazon or a local tool shop? Does the sealey tool allow you to adjust the length?
@@AXISUK thanks for your reply I may have found one on Amazon iv ordered another riv nut kit to see if it’s got a longer thread if not I’ll send it back and contact sealey direct it’s because mostly of the riv nuts are shorter stem not the longer ones all fails
Just have to go to shorter riv nuts
@@benrowe681 fingers crossed they fit bud 🤞
@@AXISUK Yes your video was very helpful though even for a sprinter thank you !
@@benrowe681 thanks ☺️
Do the brackets come with the awning
No, that’s the stinger! The brackets are sold separately and are not cheap 🤦🏻
Exactly what I need to do. I was just about to fit Unistrut rails for solar panels, then I saw your video & realised I wouldn’t be able to fit an awning, so now I’m redesigning the whole plan. Thanks for stopping me before it was too late..!
David, you can get different brackets that are designed for having a roof rack, and others have modified some to mount to the unistrut.
Ideal video thanks , I was wanting to do awning and strut beams . Cheers
Glad it’s helped 👍🏻
What size awning is that? Looking to do the same on my mwb.
It’s the 3.2m probably could get away with a 3.4m to be fair
Good job matey. Solar looks miles better!
Cheers Paul 👍🏻 yeah definitely a better layout 😊
What a nightmare..🤯😎🤙
Haha your not wrong! But turned out good in the end 👍🏻
Nice one buddy, looks well . Just shows how much out of square the shape of van is, food for thought 🤔
Honestly nothing is straight on these vans 🤣 that roof rack was a job that needed doing but I was putting it off 🤦🏻
And I have an expensive umbrella ☂️ 🤣
@@AXISUK nice Brolly tho, better than mine 😂 I was waiting for the raptor to make an appearance on unistrut 🥴
@@vandox21 🤣 at £20 a tin and the possibility the uni could be chucked in the bin 🤔 thought the Halfords stuff would be best option haha
@@AXISUK looks well tho 👍🏻 solar fits a treat length ways 👌
Who sealed the roof 😂
Which bit? 😂
Top work mate
Thanks 👍🏻
Good effort
Thanks 😊
