Southern Ontario is trying to move into fall. Some leaves are turning. Hopefully it will be nice for thanksgiving. Over the years here we’ve had everything from too hot to reasonably cook to snow! Fun fun fun
I often do miss Ontario autumns. Particularly for the maple trees and oaks.

i just downloaded a shirtdress pattern from mood and have an idea of making a really long one from it.
I just tried making one of Moods shirts and it turned out too big. Be sure to check the finished measurements.

I love the way it came out. Personally I'm not sure I would do the box pleats. I like a more floaty dress. I probably would've gone with a circle skirt myself. However I do love the way it looks on you. It isn't boxy or unflattering in any way. The buttons give it a whole Hocus Pocus vibe to me. As for the caplet, I think your going to need a couple of extra sacrificial skeins for the kitties Honestly I don't know how Knitpicks and We Crochet haven't picked you up as a sponsor yet. I've bough so many things from We Crochet becuase you mentioned them. Before you I didn't even know they existed.
I'm happily surprised with the box pleats! Sometimes the pattern Just Works. Though I'm sure you could sub in a circle skirt if that's your jam 😁

I couldn't find the belt that came with the shirtwaist dress I fixed for this, so I used the green belt of another one that is in the process of becoming a long jacket.

I’m a little over half finished crocheting a super simple poncho (4 big granny squares), and trying to decide if I want to make a knee length hooded cloak. An indoor cloak is just a bathrobe with pretensions, right? And it’s not weird to have a robe to wear when the weather is chilly…

This turned out great, even with questioning your bust adjustment. I struggle upsizing. Side note: Reboot is on Tubi, and i just watcjed a couple episodes from season two. 😁
The Full Bust Adjustment has been a life-saver. I'll be putting that little tool in my arsenal for whenever its necessary.

I made a literal shirt dress for the @MyBucolicLife "Dark Academia" challenge. I started with the Harrison shirt pattern from Cashmerette. I’ve already made a couple variations of the shirt, so I knew the princess seams would fit me well, as would the waist and hips. I just extended the length to give me a true shirtdress without a waist seam. I took the basic sleeve piece from the pattern, cut it to 3/4 length, slashed it open to give me more volume, and made tiny bands to hold the gathering. Made the dress from a tiny plaid 100% wool, with 18 buttons up the front placket. The dress itself is pretty plain, intentionally, so that I could accessorize it with a lace-up vest and a necktie fashioned from lace and fabric scraps.

Shirtwaists really do look great on every body type. Watching this challenge has been fantastic given all the patterns people have used. Quite inspiring for other sewists.
Your dress is fabulous, from the fabric choice and the collar/neckline to the fit adjustments and the buttons. Adding the cape will be the cherry on the top.
I do not envy you crocheting with fingering weight yarn. Knitting with it is enough for me.
Your helpers are so helpful! Kittens doing double duty as pattern weights or paperweights means they've more than earned the good gooshy food.
They definitely get the good gooshy foods. Though they're getting more particular as they age! 😁
I have 5 shirtwaist dresses that are too big BUT have wonderful belts. I've been adding holes to make them smaller so I don't have to deconstruct the dresses - yet!. I love me a shirtwaist dress.
If they're that comfy, alter alter alter until you have to re-cut! 😁

The colour is lovely on you, as is the neckline. A suggestion for the next one would be to back off the darts a bit or perhaps lower them slightly, the placement is a touch off. But, your comfort and opinion is paramount. (Ignore my desire to advise if you are happy with the darts as they are. My intent is to help, not criticise )

The Columbia Book of the Use of Yarns (circa 1904) has a bunch of shawl patterns...the basic caplet I'm making is located in there. I think it's on the Antique Pattern Library? 😁

I had a shirtwaist back in the 80s that I kind of want to recreate. It was a standard short-sleeve shirt to the waist, which gathered/pleated into a yoked skirt with a pleated skirt. Wore that to death

I had a pale pink short sleeve shirt dress that made me feel beautiful. It didn't have a waist but it did have a fabric belt. I am thinking of recreating it. I have no idea what it was about that dress and I have no idea what happened to it, it may have gotten lost in the flood.
