Hi! Amazing video by the way! Just a couple of questions- Do they give you a topic to write about, or do you come up with it on your own? Also- Is this written on paper they give you? Thanks!
hi i sat this years exam there’s 2 pieces of writing one persuasive and one creative this year, talking about cinemas. you basically have to complete both them in 40 minutes and for the persuasive one they give us a topic about “if cinemas are still popular” and we basically have to take a standpoint and write about it. for creative they just gave us a photo of a woman sitting in a cinema alone and told us to come up a story. it is quite hard for me to write 2 in 40 minutes but i still managed to do that, i would say the creative one is much more difficult than the persuasive one by a long shot because my english is really bad and there’s just too much to write about for the creative one too vague. just got an offer from melbourne high at the moment so good luck
This video is amazing but what do you mean by using teel again after the rebuttal. also, is the intro like the topic in teel? it sounds like its repeating the main points. thanks
Hey Vm! great video btw, just wanted to ask i dont get what u mean by the first optional sentence for the intro and the last sentnce for the conclusion. i just need some context. thanks!
Those sentences don't really affect your argument, they are just place holders to make your writing look longer and bigger. They can be something like a context sentence with background info about the topic!
tip for the structure of the introduction: 1st sentence= Topic sentence, just stretch the topic to make it fit in a singular sentece 2nd sentence= Thesis, state your side of the argument in a sentence Then for about 2-3 senteces describe your points without any persuasive element. PRO TIP: For the first sentence in your introduction try to rephrase- In recent times there has been a fierce debate regarding _____ Then for the body paragraphs, like he mentioned you could just plan it out for indivisual scenario, scocietal scenario and then financial or environmental scenario. The best way to plan this out is by using METSHEETS (money, ethics, technology, saftey, environment, education, time and social realtionships) in your plan. my selective year 9 entry exam is in 3 days( please wish me luck!!!) trynna get in suzzane
Now that the exam for selective high school is made by ACER, you are required to write an essay in 20 mins!!! How do I combat the time pressure though?
Make sure to make your writing straightforward and concise, but put in lots of detail. Focus on one specific scene rather than a complicated story. rebuttal is only like a small explanation dont use example for it .
then use it to make your side even stronger
if that makes any sense

@@Tanmay_Pandya1 good luck to you too, btw I go to a private school which according to my friends lowers my chance
@@SimpIySimple Thanks. Yeah private schools have a lower chance as there are many smart people there but don't be discouraged and get in your all.
@@Tanmay_Pandya1 thanks mate, you too.

@@SimpIySimple Melbourne High, wbu?
In the selective exam, where would you write the plan?
You can just write it on a sheet of paper that they give you
Is the selective entry test based on acer or edutest this year?
Acer

You don't need 20min spend a few minute planning and just do small paragraphs
