My dad once had a Corvair Monza with the 180HP turbo charged engine, and he swears it was the best handling and most fun car he had ever driven. BUT, coming down a long hill, in the rain, it wouldn’t stop soon enough to miss another wreck in front of him, and it was totaled. But he kept the drivetrain. Being an engineer, and Army officer, he had the means to do something cool with it, so he ordered a dune buggy kit and put that 180HP engine in a car that ended up weighing a little under 1500lbs! That’s one helluva power to weight ratio! As far as wheelies, well my older brothers had to put broken up cinder blocks in the tiny front compartment, and they even put heavier front wheels and tires in the front to keep it down. I remember hanging on for dear life sitting on a life preserver cushion and holding onto that roll bar while the front end bounced around under hard acceleration. They really started out in second gear most of the time, and the exhaust pipes would always get kinked acting as wheelie bars. It was never street legal, no blinkers, and the headlights rarely worked after so many hard landings. That car was nothing but hysterical laughs driving around on property we had out on Wadamalaw Island here near Charleston, SC. Since we moved a fair bit, it sat a little too long and the engine got frozen by rust, as the salt marsh was very close by. A sad ending, but fun while it lasted! Imagine 180HP, rear engined, and less than 1500 pounds on the street. It was white, never properly painted, fiberglass bucket seats with no cushions, barely stopped, with first gear working better, and was always sideways or wheels up. Crazy times. I swear I had more insane adventures by the time I was 13 than anyone else I’ve very met! It’s in the blood, for sure.
My grandfather put a v8 in a corvair big engine with tunnel ram behind the front seat. Married a vw bug with a Oldsmobile Toronado. Looked stock box covered with carpet like you'd put big speakers in behind front seats. Wasn't loud at all. Talk about a sleeper😂 night shift machine shop at general electric. Had to keep those Tool and die machines busy 😂 on a slow night.
I think the guy with the Manx meant it was worth way more to him than to anyone else due to its sentimental value….it just came off very badly. Dennis can afford anything….if he doesn’t know that he will soon after he watches a few Coffee Walk videos 😂. Dennis was a class act as always.
The sly grin on Dennis' face as the young man said, "You couldn't afford it" when checking out the Manx. Shawn P starts laughing out loud, and told him, "You don't want to say that to this person!" Funniest quip I've seen on this channel so far!
Dennis just bought a *lot* of work, spent my life around these cars, rusted on the showroom floor according to my father who served his time on them, 1st to do is grab the Heritage Certificate from JDHT. Then thousands of hours! Carnival red for the 2 of them👌
The first time I saw the XKE was as a kid when I moved into CT back in 1974. The father of who would become my best childhood friend owned a powder blue/black/black 12cyl. convertible. As a kid it was the first time I saw a car that I could call beautiful. To this day there is no other car that to me is as strikingly beautiful no matter what year model XKE I’m looking at. They are gorgeous from literally every angle. What really tells the tail of its genuine beauty of design is how many other car company owners/founders/designers historically, even the likes of Enzo Ferrari himself the producer of some incredible designs, agree that it’s the most beautiful car ever made. That includes all the one off “special” designs. Just an amazingly timeless definition of genuinely functional automotive artwork. 👍🏻😎👍🏻
I'm loving your stuff, Dennis. You seem to be a genuinely nice person, and I like the way you treat those around you with humour and respect. Nice score on the Jag, and we'll see you next week! ✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
Drove one of these in 85. ,My friends parents were out of the country,What a blast 💥,1 of the many cars that actually made it back to the garage after going to Dallas /The Starc Club,And never got caught !! His Dad was A Major Pawn Shop Baller. ! TCU💜Paschal High Denies
I’m glad they showed his dune buggy as much as they did. I remember those when I was younger. We sat at the same intersection downtown and looked at Dotties about five days ago. I’ve never been there before and I said to my wife I’d like to buy the neon sign off the front of it. Only about a half an hour away is Galena Illinois, which is famous for being general grants town, where he owned a store. It is a hilly part of north western Illinois that is jaw-droopingly gorgeous. Only 10 minutes away is an area called the territories that is a development for people with money. A lot of golf courses on the rolling Hills and something for everybody to experience there.
When I was the manager of a BP station, I had a customer who had a 71 XKE v12. I was constantly replacing the exhaust. He would tear it off about twice a month.
Our next door neighbor, Bill Willer (long since deceased) had two cars he constantly worked on. Our driveways were connected. He used both cars for drag racing. He had a yellow 67 Camero and a 69 Jaguar XKE. The Jag had a 6 cylinder and the Camero had a high rise on top of a 454. I never saw him race, but he said the Jag was much faster. He was always wrenching on both of them. My brother married his sister.
Enjoyed the video and as always, the history lesson provided on the VIN locations and production of the car is fascinating. Although the Myers Manx was cool the owner was not very gracious. Look forward to seeing the two Jaguar's together.
That is a Regency Red LHD Series 2 Roadster. A shame it was choked to death with twin strombergs and the US emissions laws. The UK Series 2 RHD Roadster is the rarest E-Type made, only 775 produced at Coventry. Would be nice to see this one converted to triple HD8's SU's. How it's supposed to be. Good luck.
Dennis , you ribbing your fellow compadres reminds me of my father and his father , as a golfing family we had a chance to enjoy the weather and each other’s company .
Dennis, 8th month of the year and on, is the next model year. All 200 plus cars I've bought and sold, that had an august build month have been the following year.. maybe jaguar does it backwards but they are the most reliable cars to ever be made
Dennis you knew what OTS stood for: I'm surprised then that you referred to your coupe and OTS as "XKE. The proper term is E-Type. Jaguar made a XK 120, then a XK 140. then a XK 150. They also made a couple fabulous race cars called C-Type and a D-Type. The new sensational streetcar was the E-Type.
Good evening Dennis , and the team . The interior shots of the coupe revealed that the original colour may have been silver . The colour of the OTS is Regency Red . ....Dennis l hope all is ok , l'm wondering why you've recently taken to wearing caps ..... God bless you Sir !
I know 2 old guys in the Netherlands who have a huge stockpile of vintage english cars and American I even saw a complete etype v12 there. Its a treasure cove, its a wrecking yard all the way back to the early 1900s.. I wonder where everything will go when they are gone 😢. I bought some rare stuff there
You guy's need to go to Cleveland Ohio and get an all original 1978 Corvette 25 anniversary. It only has 293 original miles on it. It was in a garage since 1986. It has since been detailed by WD Detailing. They are on youtube. Dennis would love this car
This car will require a lot of work. But it is a Beauty. Talking about food. This hashbrown actually looks like hashbrown. It is a farmer's dish invented in my province in Berne, so we are sometimes shocked what is sold as hashbrown. But I must say: Ketchup on hashbrown is a no go! Like chocolate sauce on sauerkraut, a thing that some English people or Filipinos eat.
Hey Dennis, I hope all is going well. I hope your health is doing well. I have a feeling something is going on just by looking at your recent weight loss. I’ve been through chemo for a 14 months. I know the look hopefully I’m wrong. God bless you.
I have a question I'm cleaning out a basement and I came across a motor and parts for a XKE Jaguar. I think it's a 68 and I have the doors, motor, lights conv top, trim ,
Sedan means that there are B pillars, and convertibles don’t have B pillars, generally. A four door without B pillars is called a hardtop, and those are quite desirable, A two door without B pillars is a two door coupe, and a two door with B pillars is a two door sedan. A four door with B pillars is a four door sedan. FYI, the roof supports at the windshield are A pillars, the ones at the back of the front doors would be B pillars, and the ones at the rear of the roof would be C pillars, and on a wagon, the most rearward ones would be, you guessed it, D pillars.
Denis as always is very respectful, I'd love u to do a video about your family, parents, siblings. Your parents done a great gob.
Not always, the lady asked if he wanted to wet the towel he ignore her and the guy asked a question as well and he ignored him.
It's his channel. You think he's going to put out videos that make him look like a jerk?

Good for you anything else. 🤣
That’s so cool man.

Dennis Collins is a true gentleman when dealing with the sellers of these collector vehicles. Definitely a car community ambassador! Kudos!
Not Shawn
"You can't afford it" aka not worth paying for it. 🤠 That was the least food of plates on the table that Dennis ever order. 😮
Kid was a dbag
Just proving he can't afford it hahahaha
Awesome.! I heard that lady say I'm so happy....

"I'm so Happy".

Man, that lady is a genuinely lovely person! Its hard to fake that although my wife is pretty good at it when we're in public! 😅 Good show!

The young man should have said no amount of money will buy this . Dollars don't matter in this situation .
@@larryc8607 agreed. Simple and effective answer. Kudos to Sean P for his comment as that guy had no clue that Dennis could buy that manyx 20x.
Unfortunately "you can't afford it" really makes that young man look like a tool, and he probably isn't.
@@bbb462cid I agree. He’s probably not a bad guy but making comments like that makes me look arrogant and snobby.
@@alexsellscars maybe just nervous in front of a camera
What a wonderful woman;great spirit.

I bet he's qualified.
@@TheEnd-eg6wq he's not the least bit qualified.......The proper bankroll though, yes.
The way Dennis treats and respects people is awesome Good example to all of us
I so much like watching your coffee walk videos. Thank you. 👍

Those E-types were absolutely beautiful
Enzo Ferrari said it was the most beautiful car of all time.

I'm loving your stuff, Dennis. You seem to be a genuinely nice person, and I like the way you treat those around you with humour and respect. Nice score on the Jag, and we'll see you next week! ✌️❤️🙂🇨🇦
Thanks Dennis. 🙏🏻😎
What a sweet ride. I'm looking forward to seeing it restored .
Dennis, you are a true gentlemen on every deal you do, good on you

Great episode. Love the Myers Manx. And also the Jag. Thanks Dennis!
What a diamond in the rough. Always my favorite Jag model. Can't wait to see it fixed up. ❤💜🧡💛👌😎

His & hers.
Love the Bune Duggy .
Nice find
That's a goodlooking car. Can't wait to see the finished product.
Best looking car ever made!
Great to see a Brit car featured again. Watching from the UK - any Italian stuff hidden away. ............ please!!
Dennis and his crew are truly first class group of individuals.
Great video Dennis Sean P's finally hooking the cars up wait for more videos Dennis 2024
Thanks Dennis. I look forward to every weeks episode to see what you’re saving and what you’ve been working on and finished

That dude wanted Dennis to check out his Dune Buggy sooo bad hahaha. He thought he was the coolest guy driving that thing
Honestly thought it was ‘B is for Build’ in the 1st shot in town😉
because he was the coolest guy driving the coolest bang for buck car made
yrah he did butt,, IT'S NOT FOR SALE he said first thing and nobody even asked...
Guy was a douche
After he said "you can"t afford it" I knew he was done
The E type is still my all time favorite one of the most beautiful cars ever made!
dont forget your flashlight dennis!🙂

The cool thing about Jaguars is every one of them have low miles. 👍
It’s always a great Saturday morning when you get a new Coffee walk to watch with a cup of coffee
Definitely should have went to West Dubuque Tap for Magic Muffin!!! Those are OUTSTANDING!!!!!!!
Another great Coffee walk
Enzo ferrari said the e type was the most beautiful car he'd ever seen, it sure is just love the styling. Great video. ❤

I’m still laughing (we can’t pull from there) good one guys. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Good job guys
By ringing that bell you just bought beer for the whole town. When are you coming back.
I have a complete tool kit from a mark 8 jag... same as the e type.. hope your jag came with the kit!
Buggies are great!!!
Dennis how about putting the Porsche motor in a Puma, Brazil has a ton of them
Awesome always cool stuff always thanks
Besides a few flash lights now and four wheels movers so if wheels stuck no problemo easy move then dragging......
Hash browns looked raw. 🤣
Dennis i've got a jag with 12cyl calf. motor did run 5 years ago full set of factory honey cone rims.
In 1982 all Jaguars were 50 states cars.

Slavin' away on a '77 F150 today - just got done with the exhaust manifold donut...

Coventry jaguar, made a mile up the road from my home

There was another one in the shop with double digit mileage on it. Has that video been made.

Just up the road from where I live in the Quad Cities.
Also the 25 Anniversary stickers come with the car. They were never put on the car
Another great find.
I saw one of these on the road today, love them.
What about the coffee walk sticker for the restaurant. Love the car can't wait to see it done. Thanks for the video stay safe guy's.
I love jaguars Especially the E 22:07 types, That's a great find , nice video.🇺🇲🙂

If this Jaguar had a V-12 I would definitely be interested.
My neighbor had a dune buggy like that parked in his shed area. It was blue metaflake.
Hey Dennis did you buy a car just like this one with Richard that needed to be taken off the trailer with a fork lift?

Hey guys, instead of dragging the Corvette, why don't you put the shop wheel sets underneath the tires and roll it up the ramp?
I have been waiting a long time for you to find another Jaggg,
good one
That guy's son seemed a bit of a nob you're a legend, Denis you took his rude comment well sir
why was he even there, with a dune buggy of all things. Just to show off?
