That little piece of metal that fits into the bottom and covers that hole was designed to prevent pressurized hydraulic fluid from shooting out and into your eye during bleeding or clutch fluid change procedures. I followed your video closely as I was reassembling my slave and master cylinders. Thank you for the detail you provided throughout. BTW... you will stare at the master cylnder clutch handle and rue the day you didn't repaint it when you had it off and clean. Rue... rue the day. :)

interesting idea for the little flap of metal, but the float on top would serve the same purpose.

5:09/16:12, you should briefly run a hone through the cylinders to remove the glazing. I heard that K&L carb kits for the GL1500 should be avoided, I wonder if the same applies to their brake and clutch kits.

The little metal clip prevents the fluid from being a fountain while you bleed it.

Well, this was my second attempt. None of this stuff is too difficult, you just have to be willing to try.

The tiny passage in the bottom of the master cylinder reservoir was my failure. you have to get that clean

Is there a gasket in between the slave cylinder and engine block?

      No. Clean metal to metal

Yes there is a seal between crankcase and the slave cylinder, and it hardens by the time. You should replace it while you are there.
