"If I held my ground, would you ask me to change?" In my opinion, greatest quote ever. In every song, there's at least one line that is truly powerful lyrics. Rise Against have the greatest lyrics in their songs I've ever heard.
I listened to this song everyday for 15 months in Iraq. It was the perfect way to get to work. Its a shame they arenothing like this anymore. Oh well. Appreciate what they made.
I don't know if you have kept up with them recently, but i have to say their newest album "Wolves" that dropped a month or so ago is actually very good and refreshing compared to the last few releases, you should check it out if you haven't already!
Were losing daylight but I can't work any faster. Under the veil of dust we go on Don't close your eyes. What if it all disappears in the shadows? Now reach for the stars If I held my ground would you ask me to change This drought bleeds on now we're dancing for rain We drink the air but its still not the same These worlds collide but the distance remains We point the finger, never accept the blame and I know, I know The waters come but the fire still rages on here The men all shrugged their shoulders and left We sleep so sound in rooms just up the stairs Will you save us like you saved them? If I held my ground would you ask me to change This drought bleeds on now we're dancing for rain We drink the air but its so not the same These worlds collide but the distance remains We point the finger, never accept the blame and I know, I know You've bled me dry but I'm still breathing I swear I'm sucking dry the sky And you won't ever find us kneeling Or swallowing your lies If I held my ground would you ask me to change This drought bleeds on now we're dancing for rain We drink the air but its so not the same These worlds collide but the distance remains We point the finger, never accept the blame, and I know, I know This drought bleeds on, this drought bleeds on
Yea, I completely agree. It's not just the music (even though its amazing). In my opinion the lyrics are the best part of the song. Tim McIlrath is a poetic genius.
What gets me is the way he melds emotion that blurs the lines between some deeper meaning and something like love. Youre never really sure and I love it
@@Lanval_de_Lai Oh really??! I don't really know I never actually checked it out myself, but back in the day when I first found Rise Against and fell in love someone told me that they used to have a different singer. But maybe I'm thinking of a different band? :)
@@hayleyz1703 Yes haha it's Tim McIlrath :) But it's true that his voice might have changed, he started with 20 years old and now it's a father of 40 years hehe. I think that I can understand better the first albums because I have more empathy with the younger band, but we will see when I get older hehe
@@Lanval_de_Lai HAHAHA I didn't even take age into account! Totally makes sense :P And I agree with you about understanding the different albums, although I do still appreciate the music itself and I always enjoy their songs
I really cant live without rise against, they make me want to change the world make it a better place, be a better person the lyrics always are spot on with how i feel, I really cant live without them
When I saw them live years ago, it was an outdoor concert and it was soooo hot outside. When they started playing this song, it started sprinkling. Best memory ever.
Man do they even make music like this anymore. No.....there’s just so much to it and it all goes together great you can’t help but really feel this album. It’s pretty cool
It happened to my brother :'( he never left his room for days... we finally went in to check on him... his head was gone, and Rise Against was playing on repeat... RIP Klaus
i couldnt choose a favorite rise against song i love their music and agree with every word...if more people listened and agreed i think the work would be a better place
To jest muza w polsce mało ludzi lubi tako muze ale ciesze sie ze ktos zawszelubi ja juz do Rise Against przekonałem 4 osoby a do rocku i innych odmian rocku 6 :)
i adore this band seeing 'em at the roundhouse in london on the 6th march :D their new album is amazaing. I really like saviour, entertainment, heads unworthy, hero of war... ahah ooooh i love them all :D
Every Album they have is amazing!!! I have Sufferer and the Witness, Appeal to Reason, and Siren Song of the Counter Culture... can't wait to get the rest!
I can imagine the crew of the Normandy hurrying back to the ruins of the crucible at top speed trying to find out if Shepard survived when I hear this song. That and his/her fever dreams if he did would make an epic music video for this song.
I just don't get how can someone dislike this? Like, the only logical thing is that they just saw this and just decided to listen to it, and it wasn't the genre they wanted. I doubt it's someone that listens to this band or this kind of music. I mean, seriously! This band and this song is amazing! I wish there was a way you could erase the dislikes and leave the likes. xD
i like the old stuff and new stuff the same i saw them live back in july and they mostly played newer songs, but they played this song and it started to rain. it was so epic
Has to be one of the greatest songs ever !!! I can't wait for Katianna to be in the world !! 2 WEEKS!!! None of this would have happend with out my brothers!!!! SEMPER FI !!!!
i remember when i first heard rise against, i didnt like most of their songs, but now i have every song they done from revolutons per mintue, sufferer and the witness, siren songs of the country culture, appeal to reason, and soon to be endgame

Check out Backwordz. Gnarly wordplay. Reddstar is dope too, and just as good live.
You know the music's good when it gives you goosebumps...
soo agreed
I mean... I agree but here it's just generally cold.
you know the music is good when it gives you goosebumps.. ten years since you first heard it.

Thanks for your service, be it military or otherwise.
Actually, when I saw them Live this past November, they played it as a song in their Setlist! :-)
I don't know if you have kept up with them recently, but i have to say their newest album "Wolves" that dropped a month or so ago is actually very good and refreshing compared to the last few releases, you should check it out if you haven't already!

Thank you! I was just about to google the lyrics. You saved me few minutes and I will make good use of it.
I am addicted to this song.

This song should have 1 million views, I mean I've listened to it on here at least 2,000 times!
+Nicholas D'Asti this was their 3rd studio album, it was one of their earliest his voice isn't different
+The Shockz IT IS.. if you dont believe, you have to watch performance from 2005 and now.
Alright here's the album order. Rise Against, (self titled) Rev Per Min, Siren song, Sufferer, Appeal to Reason, Endgame, and Black Market
+larry itliong the unraveling I'm sorry not self titled.
Who the hell gave this a thumb's down?? This is as good as it gets!!! This is epic. An allegory for the working poor and the class war.
His voice is a lot more agressive in the earlier albums. Great song though.
I think they had a different singer for the first couple albums. Good, but this guy is GREAT!
@@hayleyz1703 If it's not a joke: it's the same guy XD

Most rise against fans won't agree, but I really like this song best of ALL their songs.
It's insane that Rise Against have almost 100 songs and none of them sucks!
