*ALL BECAUSE OF YOU I BELIEVE IN ANGELS/ NOT THE KIND WITH WINGS/ NO NOT THE KIND WITH HALOS/ THE KIND THAT BRING YOU HOME/ WHEN HOME BECOMES A STRANGE PLACE*
In fields where nothing grew but weeds, I found a flower at my feet, Bending there in my direction, I wrapped a hand around its stem, I pulled until the roots gave in, Finding there what I'd been missing, But I know... So I tell myself, I tell myself it's wrong. There's a point we pass from which we can't return. I felt the cold rain of the coming storm. All because of you, I haven't slept in so long. When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean, Longing for the shore where I can lay my head down, I'll follow your voice, All you have to do is shout it out. Inside my hands these petals browned, Dried up, fallen to the ground But it was already too late now. I pushed my fingers through the earth, Returned this flower to the dirt, So it could live. I walked away now. But I know... Not a day goes by that I don't feel this burn. There's a point we pass from which we can't return. I felt the cold rain of the coming storm. All because of you, I haven't slept in so long, When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean, Longing for the shore where I can lay my head down, I'll follow your voice, All you have to do is shout it out. When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean, Longing for the shore where I can lay my head down, Inside these arms of yours. All because of you, I believe in angels. I'm getting my baby sister, who will be gone for 10 years on September 14th, 2015 tattooed on me, with the words "All because of you, I believe in angels"
Crlongboarder I lost my life partner on the 3rd May this year, we had been together for 8 years and that quote hit me too. Sorry for your loss man, may our Angels live on in our memories.
+asdfghjkl zxcvbnm Yeah its funny cause I heard this song 2 years ago once and I was humming a beat to him tell one.of us remembered a lyric to Google and bamboo we are here today (:

"All because of you, I believe in angels" Had this tattooed because as cheesy as it is, this band did save my life. they will probably never know but I will be forever grateful for the faith and hope they gave me to help me survive
Man.... I haven't heard this song in years, it used to be my favorite until I fell into depression and started slipping into addiction, I couldn't even listen to music like this anymore (I think I was afraid of emotions) but man....... This song just makes me miss my old life, I miss not being high all the time, I miss bright colors, I miss thinking clearly, I miss feeling healthy. Gahhh I miss feeling these emotions. I need to change. I'm glad I stopped here today...
Don't listen to these idiots. Every song has it's own meaning for an individual, most strike a memory of their past that relates to the theme and the lyrics. It's what you take from it that matters. Hardly "the rest of their work" ! Try going back the early days, when they were pure raw unrefined punk talent. With a sound that they have honed and polished, and an Ideology unfettered by corporate despotism, they have stayed true to their roots, they have carved a path through punk rock with a passion befitting their Iconic Band Name. They have set themselves among the greats of punk rock and rock alike.

Lol, I thought I made clear that I understand that by asking ''where are you from?'' but I guess it was only obvious for people with an at least an average intelligence.
My story isn't as tragic as other's but I got dumped by someone I terribly loved and it really destroyed me for a while. It wasn't even too long ago. I remember playing this song over and over at night crying in the darkness.... This song describes LITERALLY how I felt. I still feel like this every once in a while, because if you don't understand what that feels like I will explain: it's like getting stabbed in the lung. You try to breath but its very difficult. You never die from it but the hole is still there, taunting your every breath. Thats why my favorite line in this song is,"All beacuse of you, i havent slept in so long. when i do i dream of drowning in the ocean..." Like I said I know my story isn't as tragic but it hurt me a whole helluva lot and made me stronger. Thank you for reading.
I know how you feel, man, the same happened to me, when I lidten to this song I think of that girls who left me. I still feel bad when I think about her.
I dated the prettiest/most popular girl in my grade all 4 years of high school I knew her since 6th grade she now dates a kid who was the most popular in his grade 2 grades ahead of our grade .. Bro I am fucking dead inside my soul is fucking black I don't know how I'm even breathing at this point she's all I think about 24/7 I'm even getting drunk rightnow because I thought of her to much today but I'm also drinking because I ran out of weed earlier .... Fuck man
Blankphotograph5799 I'm pretty sure this song is about the people destroying the earth. I guess that with the part about the flower and I have the feeling that the "you" is the earth and more precisely the flower which is dying.
loss of love is a tragedy and don't have to down play it for you it felt tragic try to find new love and remember how you felt learn compassion and never make anyone else in your future feel like this if you fall out of love why you feel bad is because you have a good heart the person. that broke up should be the one that feels bad and guilt love loss doesn't have to be total loss there should be friendship still
More than 14 years later these guys are still changing my life. When they came to Bakersfield in 2010 was th best concert of my life. Always going to be a fan of the angels who guide you home when home becomes a strange place.
That moment when you put on a rise against song and you see in the bar right so much other songs from them that you're like: "Oh damm, I don't have the time to listen to all this epic music right now, I need to sleep. But well this song is is just to good to not listen to, this song will be the last one before I will go to sleep." And then after some time, it's 3:00 am.
This is my favorite song of all time, from my favorite band. Lyrics are absolutely poetic, with multiple interpretations. One that I find satisfying is that the "you" he is referring to isn't a girl: it's the earth. This planet that we take so much from, without giving anything back in return... He does what he can to make it a better place, through being a vegetarian, PETA, recycling, conserving resources, and advocating his stands on environmental and political issues through his band, but it isn't enough. WE need to be the ones to change it. To make it a better place. He sees a light at the end of this video, and in this light he believes will perhaps come a brighter future for the planet, caused by the good actions of people. So, people. Be a little more environmentally aware and concerned. Leave this earth a better place than when you came. No matter how little you do, it's the mindset that counts.
Highly opinionated statement metal is more intricate same with Jazz both of which are more accepted genres punks my favorite to but the best is deffinently an opinion
This is the best band and they have not once sold out in any way. Hopefully they continue making their amazing music, as I impatiently wait...this music video was also very inventive.
I used to listen to rap music, you know, the stuff by Post Malone, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, etc. Now that I come back to my old favorite band, I don't want to leave. Fuck this rap, I enjoy this much more. Rise Against never gets old. Loved and, and still loving it today.
"All because of you, I haven't slept in so long. When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean, Longing for the shore where I can lay my head down" I love these lines so much
Rise against will always have a special place in my top ten bands. The nostalgia is real. I moved on to Metallica and others but, I always love this feeling of coming back to what started it all for me.
+TVNando Same bro the nostalgia is real with this band. And i started out with rise against too cuz my cousin introduced me to them and i fell in love. But yea rise against will always have its special spot in my list smh....
5 years. I don't think about that flower everyday, but i still do, even 5 years later. I'm glad i left her in the field though... I look at her from time to time and the field in which she grows is plentiful of lively vegetation that surround her as she blooms. Thaat is what she deserves too; the prettiest of flowers devoid of thorns. It hurt me when i left her there, and I wish i never did, but a part of me knows that was the good thing to do. I'll keep on checking on, every now and then, when solitude burdens me or my heart aches. I wish you the best. May you keep on growing, little flower.
In fields where nothing grew but weeds I found a flower at my feet Bending there in my direction I wrapped a hand around its stem And pulled until the roots gave in Finding there what I've been missing And I know So I tell myself, tell myself, it's wrong There's a point we pass From which we can't return I felt the cold rain of the coming storm All because of you, I haven't slept in so long When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean Longing for the shore, where I can lay my head down I'll follow your voice, all you have to do is shout it out Inside my hands these petals browned Dried up fallen to the ground But it was already too late now I pushed my fingers through the earth Returned this flower to the dirt So it could live, I walked away now But I know Not a day goes by when I don't feel this burn There's a point we pass From which we can't return I felt the cold rain of the coming storm All because of you I haven't slept in so long When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean Longing for the shore where I can lay my head down I'll follow your voice, all you have to do is shout it out All because of you All because of you All because of you I haven't slept in so long When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean Longing for the shore where I can lay my head down Inside these arms of yours All because of you I believe in angels Not the kind with wings no, not the kind with halos The kind that bring you home When home becomes a strange place I'll follow your voice, all you have to do is shout it out
Sometimes you don't realize how much you love a song until you put it on and realize you're singing every word from memory. That just happened to me with this song.
Yeah, it happened to me too. Recently, I stumbled across a song I was obsessed with when I was 14 (like 2 years ago) and I was surprised. I could sing the song word to word!! (If you're wondering, the song is "King for a day" by pierce the veil)
Totally. This song has been in my iPod, phone, youtube albums for over 10 years with other Rise Against songs. Today it just hit different, complete chills.
I got to see them with Taking Back Sunday, and Awolnation, at How the Edge Stole Christmas one year and I was literally moved to tears. Not crazy, sad ugly crying but definitely nothing I have ever experienced before. What happened to music that had meaning? I have never loved a band more than Rise Against, and I don't believe it's possible that I ever will.
Please bow your head and say this prayer 🙏 "CREATOR, LORD GOD, Please help me against evil and all who favor it. Thank you for everything CREATOR, LORD GOD. Amen." Please do this now 🙂🙏🙏🙏
The first time that I remember dying I was 7 years old and I was in foster care. I woke up in a field of yellow flowers and there was a tiny little house. There is a woman there to greet me and I ran up to her and she picked me up in her arms. Every time I see this music video it reminds me of that time I died.
"All because of you, I believe in angels. Not the kind with wings, No, not the kind with halos, The kind that bring you home, When home becomes a strange place. I'll follow your voice, All you have to do is shout it out." So damn strong.
Too generic and their guitars lack rythm, plus the guys voice is annoying as hell, he is using his throa. Not his strings, that's screaming not singing
I came to the conclusion that they're never going to fix the spelling mistake, this will be a music vidoe forever
😂😂😂
I did not notice this until now, years later xD
Mulvun it adds character
This is the best vidoe on the entire internet.
🤣🤣
*ALL BECAUSE OF YOU I BELIEVE IN ANGELS/ NOT THE KIND WITH WINGS/ NO NOT THE KIND WITH HALOS/ THE KIND THAT BRING YOU HOME/ WHEN HOME BECOMES A STRANGE PLACE*

+Stephen >ded
that... sounds actually really good. it wouldn't make any sense for the lyric but I sure like how it sounds
best part of the whole song
When he sang “I push my fingers...” then I immediately started to think “...Into my eyes”
Good to know that... I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE!!!
:D SlipKnoT
TheIrek666, Bro, I think about it often too
@Lufrager I see you’re a man of culture
It's the only thing, that slowly stops the achheee.
In fields where nothing grew but weeds,
I found a flower at my feet,
Bending there in my direction,
I wrapped a hand around its stem,
I pulled until the roots gave in,
Finding there what I'd been missing,
But I know...
So I tell myself, I tell myself it's wrong.
There's a point we pass from which we can't return.
I felt the cold rain of the coming storm.
All because of you,
I haven't slept in so long.
When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean,
Longing for the shore where I can lay my head down,
I'll follow your voice,
All you have to do is shout it out.
Inside my hands these petals browned,
Dried up, fallen to the ground
But it was already too late now.
I pushed my fingers through the earth,
Returned this flower to the dirt,
So it could live. I walked away now.
But I know...
Not a day goes by that I don't feel this burn.
There's a point we pass from which we can't return.
I felt the cold rain of the coming storm.
All because of you,
I haven't slept in so long,
When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean,
Longing for the shore where I can lay my head down,

All you have to do is shout it out.
All because of you...
All because of you...
All because of you,
I haven't slept in so long.
When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean,
Longing for the shore where I can lay my head down,

I love that part too :) when he sings "i belive in angels" ...
I agree. Might very well be the best part of this song :)
Hmm I really hate that part myself. I think Rise against have a nasty habit of making a really catchy chorus only to change it up at the end which ruins it for me. I often find myself listening to the beginning of the song a few times but never the end.
No one said they were bad. I freaking love rise against.
In my case, my story isnt tragic or sad, but quite the opposite, it's a happy story. I was adopted at birth and that's why every time I hear the last chorus:
I believe in angels.
Not the kind with wings,
No, not the kind with halos,
The kind that bring you home,
When home becomes a strange place.

That was beautiful.
That was beautiful! Im happy for you and your parents.
thank you. I'm a birthmom and this makes me so happy. i hope they love her as much as you are loved
I love this.
I'm surprised Tim Mcilrath isn't ranked up with some of the best songwriters. The lyrics in this song are so emotionally gripping that I feel tears every single time I hear the ending lines.

Bro I am fucking dead inside my soul is fucking black I don't know how I'm even breathing at this point she's all I think about 24/7 I'm even getting drunk rightnow because I thought of her to much today but I'm also drinking because I ran out of weed earlier .... Fuck man

I'm pretty sure this song is about the people destroying the earth. I guess that with the part about the flower and I have the feeling that the "you" is the earth and more precisely the flower which is dying.
loss of love is a tragedy and don't have to down play it for you it felt tragic try to find new love and remember how you felt learn compassion and never make anyone else in your future feel like this if you fall out of love why you feel bad is because you have a good heart the person. that broke up should be the one that feels bad and guilt love loss doesn't have to be total loss there should be friendship still
Rise against for some reason always makes me feel better after going through something terrible.
Am I going deaf or is this just not loud enough?
both
What?
No where near loud enough
Official Music Vidoe
"I follow your voice all you have to do is shout it out" that part makes me tear up
because nobody ever shouted out...
13 years later and this still my favorite vidoe by them 🎉❤
Best vidoe of all time
truly a great vidoe
More than 14 years later these guys are still changing my life. When they came to Bakersfield in 2010 was th best concert of my life. Always going to be a fan of the angels who guide you home when home becomes a strange place.
Imagine just chilling in a meadow, picking some flowers, and accidentally unleashing a punk rock band upon the world.
That would be the best origin story for a punk band.
One of my favourite albums ever! Peak Rise Against
so extremely good, THIS people is music!
585 loved it so much, so they turned their device upside down and liked it again.
That moment when you put on a rise against song and you see in the bar right so much other songs from them that you're like: "Oh damm, I don't have the time to listen to all this epic music right now, I need to sleep. But well this song is is just to good to not listen to, this song will be the last one before I will go to sleep."
And then after some time, it's 3:00 am.
Thijmen Schaap yea.. it's 5 AM and I still want to keep listening
Rise against's lyrics are so strong...
Best album would have to be The Sufferer & the Witness. Anyone else agree??
Nope. RPM and SSOTCC are better.
Aaron Pimentel Nah, RPM was their best. sufferer and Witness is a close second.
Aaron Pimentel Tie with Appeal To Reason. Sorry I love that album as much as Sufferer and the Witness.
Yes, that album is a fucking goldmine
No matter how little you do, it's the mindset that counts.
punkrock is the best genre ever
Highly opinionated statement metal is more intricate same with Jazz both of which are more accepted genres punks my favorite to but the best is deffinently an opinion
Pretty much all rock subgenres are amazing
Does anybody thinks those verses about angels are not probably most beautiful words in this song?
agreed
same
P. Poppy probably the album
Probably in all of music
THE BEST(Official Music ***Vidoe***) EVER!
This is my absolute favourite song. It just dwarves everything in every regard in my mind.
I... Just... Ugh
Yeah, me too
13 years later and still have a typo in the title
This is the best band and they have not once sold out in any way. Hopefully they continue making their amazing music, as I impatiently wait...this music video was also very inventive.
there still doing really well now. Wolves was very good
LOVE the tempo change! Lifts the energy a bit higher each time, bet this would be a wicked band to see live
Yeah absolutely
Haven't seen my stepson in a year now despite rising him up since he was maybe 6 months? till he was 4 years old. This hit hard.
I like when Tim says “All you have to do is shout it out” is my fucking line and That is my jam? 🔥🤘🏾😝🤘🏾🔥
I'm into much heavier stuff but this song is great
The ultimate throwback. I'm evoking memories of 8th grade, the nostalgia is immeasurable.
Even after all this time
*I still can't get over the fact that Video is misspelled in the title.*
I’am new to this genre of music but I absolutely love this song!
better later than never!
Check out, "LandMvrks" a French metal core band. You might really like them. Also "Polaris - Masochist" might be up your alley.
"All because of you,
I haven't slept in so long.
When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean,
Longing for the shore where I can lay my head down"
I love these lines so much
I'm glad I found this song again after a few years
This song honestly kept me from ending it in my teenage years, a decade later it is still my favorite and yes it still hurts
+Alan Molina I remember this song from my myspace days. I love this nostalgia but I miss the good ol days ):
+TVNando Ohh forreal?! you know a band is old if you found them on MySpace lol and yea I guess the good ol days are long behind us now.....
If this is the last song I hear before I die.. i will die happy!
The part where Tim sings “I believe in angels” makes me smile everytime I hear it
Looking back now, this song was a phenomenon, pulled out from the ether
My favorite song by the group! I’m a drummer and I dig it! Love the time signature switches!
This song brings so many emotions back to me and somehow this band still gives me goosebumps after all these years. Very rare.
This was my shit back in the day.....and now I listen mostly to rap/hiphop
Samee
Sad, pretty sad, come back here son, come back to rise against
+Austin Whitelaw Im literally in the same situation
This song is so underrated. It's actually a beautiful song with a lot of meaning. I can't stop listening to it now!
In fields where nothing grew but weeds
I found a flower at my feet
Bending there in my direction
I wrapped a hand around its stem
And pulled until the roots gave in
Finding there what I've been missing
And I know
So I tell myself, tell myself, it's wrong
There's a point we pass
From which we can't return
I felt the cold rain of the coming storm
All because of you, I haven't slept in so long
When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean
Longing for the shore, where I can lay my head down
I'll follow your voice, all you have to do is shout it out
Inside my hands these petals browned
Dried up fallen to the ground
But it was already too late now
I pushed my fingers through the earth
Returned this flower to the dirt
So it could live, I walked away now
But I know
Not a day goes by when I don't feel this burn
There's a point we pass
From which we can't return
I felt the cold rain of the coming storm
All because of you I haven't slept in so long
When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean
Longing for the shore where I can lay my head down
I'll follow your voice, all you have to do is shout it out
All because of you
All because of you
All because of you I haven't slept in so long
When I do I dream of drowning in the ocean
Longing for the shore where I can lay my head down
Inside these arms of yours
All because of you I believe in angels
Not the kind with wings no, not the kind with halos
The kind that bring you home
When home becomes a strange place
I'll follow your voice, all you have to do is shout it out

Nearly 15 years this is still my favorite band. I’m on a bingeee!!!!
@Matthias Frank haha that's dumb tho (:
@Matthias Frank No Gods. No Masters.
@Matthias Frank Yeah and I dreamt about fucking Emma Watson when I was on shrooms - doesn't mean any of the shit our brains come up with is real.
I'm getting all nostalgic over a song- Rise Against in Sydney on December 5th was awesome! \m/
Please bow your head and say this prayer 🙏
"CREATOR, LORD GOD,
Please help me against evil and all who favor it. Thank you for everything CREATOR, LORD GOD. Amen."
Please do this now 🙂🙏🙏🙏
Seen them 12 times! Obsessed you might say! Tim! One of the best vocalists today!
This will always be my favorite rise against song
The first time that I remember dying I was 7 years old and I was in foster care. I woke up in a field of yellow flowers and there was a tiny little house. There is a woman there to greet me and I ran up to her and she picked me up in her arms. Every time I see this music video it reminds me of that time I died.
You know a songs god teir when 90% is the "Most Replayed"
man, I love the chorus of this song

This song is so hauntingly beautiful
"All because of you,
I believe in angels.
Not the kind with wings,
No, not the kind with halos,
The kind that bring you home,
When home becomes a strange place.
I'll follow your voice,
All you have to do is shout it out."
So damn strong.
I needed this in my life back in 2006, where was I !?!?!?!?
After 5 years I just noticed they misspelled "Video". Great song, so much memories, I love to come back here.
One of the greatest songs of all time
Why the hell would anyone dislikes this?????
Captain Obvious Because people have different tastes. *Flies away*
Too generic and their guitars lack rythm, plus the guys voice is annoying as hell, he is using his throa. Not his strings, that's screaming not singing
Why are you even here?
The song is great.
So what ? Its great music
Captain Obvious Probably just dickheads obsessed with Nicki Minaj and shit.
I used to be able to listen to this song over and over when working.
I cry. Not because I'm sad, just because this has too much emotions for me to handle.
