Today I also pulled today on Chasca's banner and on her wep banner, I got Chasca after 11 fates and a skyward catalyst book after two 10 pulls.. Is any of this normal?? I believe this is one of those weapons that will get better with time. There's tons of niche weapons that go on to eventually become really good because of a new character. Either because of a new team/playstyle or a character that just meshes well with the weapon. Cough cough Xianyun cough cough Furina

And even if you add that sword I'm still correct, cause I didn't say the highest I said "on the high end", which this one objectively is.
Well, this could be used to do a Physical Kaeya, I believe he has one of the highest normal/charged scaling of sword users, and applies a lot of cryo towards superconduct. Him, Mika, Zhongli, and Kuki. The 2 piece combo from Blood stained and Pale flame, and Phys cup. If Mika and Zhongli are good enough shield/heal then Kuki could be replaced with another off field electro, but she does have good up time on her electro app, Fischl could be better here with C6 due to the normal coordinated attack and C4 for additional Electro app. Just throwing this out there as something that could be done, don't know it it would actually be any good.
kaeyas attack speed and charged attack animation and interval between charged attacks means it's not that great, keching is a better phys dps and I think even kuki is better than kaeya at that,
man why do you wanna play physical even if you like kaeya's normal attacks just use sac chongyun E bot and cryo normal attack kaeya add xingqiu for freeze team or xiangling for melting normal attacks wayy better than physical

It's a decent niche weapon. They likely released this coz of the upcoming new shielders in 5.3 being Citlali and the Anemo Catalyst for Lantern rite. Also because Zhongli is in phase 2.
I think it was an obvious tell about the near release of citlali, cause cryo and shields aren't uncommon, but further as someone who only started 4 months ago things like this are just what I needed when I don't have all those fancy previous event weapons as an option and don't consider the battle pass weapons a fair comparison(ofc those are good, people are spending money on them)

Baizhu is risky because the sword buff only applies if the shield is still active. Baizhu's shields does refresh but are very fragile. If you're unlucky, you could lose the sword buff and before Baizhu's shield would refresh when you use Clorinde's trust attack.

@@ShikiRawr yes, but I feel like it's not worth it because you want to use as many enhanced thrust attacks as possible within the duration of her eskill. If you're forced to dodge to keep the shield active before you thrusts, you will potentially lose out on X amount of thrusts and let's not forget that Baizhu's healing would also lessen her bond of life while Clorinde needs a bond of life of 100% to enhance her thrust. So not only would you need to time your dodge, but also manage her bond of life more which as a result could negatively impact the amount of enhanced thrusts. I might be fully wrong tho, this is just what I assume to be the case.
@@michaelshahoe Clorinde converts Healing into extra Bond of Life while in her buff stance, so Baizhu's healing can actually let her get extra Es off. Fragile shield is still an issue, though.
My furina is too busy buffing the hydro dragon, so I'll just stick with Zhongli and nahida for mine, as for the fourth I'll use raiden since my fischl is not c6.
@@kuraresacupcakes c6 pyro traveler can unironically be played as a dps and it actually wont suck there is also an option of plunge dps with xianyun because traveler gets infusion and pyro dmg bonus obviously its not diluc or gaming level but im pretty sure it can clear abyss with a bit of skill and decent artifact investment believe it or not pyro is actually going to be the best dps version of the traveler yet (hopefully cryo raises the bar further)
I was excited to use it for Citlali cuz it fits on her aesthetically well but only to find out she's a catalyst user. Though, the weapon can still be paired with her since her kit gives shield for the team.
@zoeb3573 the character matched perfectly weapon event is Mualani and that first catalyst.. Klee and red book, and Albedo and Khaenriah sword.. These three weapon made for them..
Just a thought I have. It could work for a Qiqi or Kaeya freeze comp with Layla given her shield while not being the best is more than enough in a freeze comp and she has a constellation where she buffs the on field attackers NA and charged attack. Niche and probably not THE best but not bad. Just food for thought.
i like this, they are ALL drip-compatible, including the three in the video. I'm using it on Ayato for sure - see how good i can get him as dps. I've been grinding Bolide for Yoimiya and did get a Hydro goblet.
Just something to note. The crystallization shield strength is determined by EM. Yes, they are still relatively weak. But you CAN buff them with higher EM. So don't be afraid to give some EM to your GEO characters.
@@ItsMeBliz Yes, that would be best, obviously. But if you're using someone other than a main shielder like Ning having a some EM other than just the usual 0, many tend to give their Geo characters you can make your crystallize shields last a bit longer.
If you did want to focus on it, you'd want an off-field damage dealer. Like take Kachina with an EM Scroll build. She pulses off-field, so provides new crystals to pick up. She'll provide DMG for the elements she crystalizes off of. Her damage is pretty meh anyway, so no big loss by focusing on EM. At C4, she buffs the active character's def, which helps the shield last longer. Also worth noting that an EM geo can be very effective defensively against certain enemies. Specifically, PECH enemies that apply their own element to themselves, like the hydro Tulpa. You then get the 2.5k base shield, boosted by the EM, and then further boosted by the "250% against same element" factor.
@Axterix13 No need to just focus on EM for geo. I'm simply pointing it out because many people try to roll their Geo artifacts with no EM. So just having the bace they come with will be far better than the usual 0 people tend to go for.
I imagine it Capitano may need a shielder, so it may be made for him. Additionally, hoyo is probably going through a list of passive abilities and said "yeah, we already have alot of swords with differing passive abilities, so lets give them an on-field sword that works with shield."
Clorinde has a possible better team to take advantage from the passive, Clorinde, Fischl, Nahida with Inazuma catalyst and Zhongli with petra. Nahida will buff electro and dendro elemental damage, Zhongli reduce electro and dendro res, and buff electro elemental damage by the electro crystalize

You forgot that Keching also is paired with Kirara in Quicken teams, so yeah, is a good F2P option for her, even if her NA/CA are not the main output of dmg. Also, we will have Citlali (for Ayato again?) and Yanlan next patch update.
I believe in keqing aggravate teams with kirara as her dendro applicator, her CA IS one of her main dmg output, or maybe even its the main dmg output, since both the skill and burst don't really have that HUGE multiplier or nuke dmg
@afaasfari2164 speaking of Keching, I think his dmg output is very well distributed. So NA/CA represent something like 30% of his total dmg because the rotations are quick, so you constantly using his ult and elemental skill followed by 4 or 5 CA.
I personally use it on an electro-charged hydro-kirara team (kirara, raiden, candace, ororon), though it’s unfortunately not as optimized as it could be bc my kirara is c6, and her c4 makes her do occasional dendro damage when her shield is up + she or a team member does damage
I feel like Lan Yan will be a good support for this weapon. Consolidating shielding and VV shred into one character does a lot to mitigate the issue most shielders have with being an overall DPS loss compared to buff/debuff supports, while also allowing the on-fielder to proc the sword's passive.
Future impact in event weapons, a unit will release in a year or more from now who will love this sword and all the new players who missed this will have to cry about it
I've been playing him on HoD with pretty low attack this whole time, really good gladiator build on him but I've wanted to switch to a build with more attack for the longest while. He's around 60/235 with HoD passive, do you think trading the crit DMG on HoD for this attack sword will pay off?
I yapped I know, but none of my friends have or want ayato and I need a 2nd opinion. Keep in mind I have pieces that can give me more crit rate if needed
You can also give Zhongli archaic petra. I know, blah blah crystal problems. It still makes Zhongli's buff even higher IF you manage it. Also, if you are a brand new player, the sword will make an easy Bennet weapon in terms of 4 star base attack. At least until you randomly get something better from a banner.
what we need to put zhongli back into the meta is a spear that buffs team damage. like xilonen's sword or citlali's catalyst. if we get that, then zhongli can give 20% shred, infinite resistance to interruption, and 60.5% dmg bonus for the team. that's pretty good.
I was so excited for this sword, but it turns out the passive is misleading. It talks about "when characters are protected by a shield", which sounds like it is a team-wide buff. It would make this sword an amazing support option for so many characters like Kirara or Layla. But the passive should've said something like "when the wielding character is protected by a shield, ..."
During the beta testing it started with "equipping character" but was changed early on to "while characters are protected". That was a deliberate change, because "equipping character" is the standard format. Why the change if it only works on the equipping character?

@@binsarm9026 Its more of, if the buff worked as it seemed, if you were running say a Hu Tao standard vape comp, you put the sword on Xingqiu and when you use Zhongli shield Hu tao would get the NA/CA buff from Xingqiu having the sword equipped.

I have a feeling this was a weapon to be used also by the Pyro Traveler so he can be an on field DPS. Note that the Pyro MC will have a Pyro Infusion and his kit is heavily revolving on that.
@@victorsebastien5321 I believe it's much better than Finale of the Deep because the normal/charged + crit rate boost > the flat atk boost. The only exception would be if Furina is in the team because of the crazy dmg buff she provides but Clorinde's best reactions doesn't use Furina. So for Clorinde, this sword + shielder is better than finale of the deep, especially with the event sword also being easily refinable to R5.
i believe it will be an amazing f2p weapon for future characters, it’s amazing now with those 2 characters so i can’t imagine what hoyo is planning to release in the future
Im thinking, maybe this weapon could be amazing on Capitano + Citlali. Cryo resonance, Citlali's shield and more crit rate plus damage boost from this sword. I'm hoping for Capitano performing normal attacks, pleaseeeee 😂
What I saw is that this sword says "characters" not "character", so it is possible that this is support weapon that would improve dmg of other characters, as long as they are protected by shield. But I might be wrong, it might be just a translation mistake...
not really, i use the Sap wood with bennet so when i use this weapon there is no different on base atk that will change his buff from ult aaaaannndddd its same dmg. this weapon for main carry. didnt work as pass over buff like TTDS.
2 of the 3 new characters next patch are gonns be shielders. I'm fairly certain this was meant to work in a specific teamcomp with one of them (Citlali probably, as she buffs pyro and hydro units further)
Remember Festering Desire? People said it was trash and I still see comments of people not getting the refinements and regretting for Furina lol. Always best to be safe and at least get the refinement mats.

I remember everyone saying it was great back in 1.2 bc it gave crit rate to E skills (the most important skill back then, NA and ult were non-existent bc no one had ER lol) It was Albedo's BiS for a good while, and it was also used on Jean quite a bit back then. This sword is such a gift to my account. I’m on a true no-pull account, so good weapons are hard to come by. I basically just main Traveler and almost every team I use has shields, so this sword is going to be great for her.
It's worth leveling, if only for the fact that the weapon itself gets a pretty considerable discount when it comes to Weapon EXP requirement, and if you have the Shogun, Ascending costs less too. Maybe I really should use this on my Keqing, since she's the only one that doesn't have a real signature weapon of her own, and it looks nice on her to boot…
Hold on, i thought that as long as a party character has the sword equipped the passive is shared by any character protected by a shield, since it never specifies that its for the equipping character, but the characters that are protected by a shield. Tbh this sword is actually op bc of one of your party members has the sword the passive still activate even if the sword user isn't on the field I tested it with chasca by using the sword on Layla and the passive still activates
I feel like this is going to be a Furina situation were there is going to be a character in the future that fit this wep perfectly. Like how Festering Desire was.
Off the top of my head I know Festering Desire sword also gave Crit Rate and was also only for Skill Crit Rate. Not sure about other weapons without looking. I like this weapon but the only character I could see myself using it on was my Physical Kirara but she already has Summit Shaper and her build was kinda designed around that weapon so it'll require some dmg testing on my end.

I was excited to use it for Citlali cuz it fits on her aesthetically well but only to find out she's a catalyst user. Though, the weapon can still be paired with her since her kit gives shield for the team.
You could use her with thrilling tales though right? Shield plus damage buff, swap on to sword user with bolide for further damage boost.

@zoeb3573 the character matched perfectly weapon event is Mualani and that first catalyst.. Klee and red book, and Albedo and Khaenriah sword.. These three weapon made for them..

Just a thought I have. It could work for a Qiqi or Kaeya freeze comp with Layla given her shield while not being the best is more than enough in a freeze comp and she has a constellation where she buffs the on field attackers NA and charged attack. Niche and probably not THE best but not bad. Just food for thought.
I mean Kaeya has a shield on one of his cons (might be c6), so if you have him high enough you might might not even need a Layla.

I've been grinding Bolide for Yoimiya and did get a Hydro goblet.
Layla's shield is one of the best in the game bruh.

I gave this weapon to my Keqing because I wasn't sure who to give it to and I didn't have any good weapons for her and now she's thriving
Just something to note. The crystallization shield strength is determined by EM. Yes, they are still relatively weak. But you CAN buff them with higher EM. So don't be afraid to give some EM to your GEO characters.

@@ItsMeBliz Yes, that would be best, obviously. But if you're using someone other than a main shielder like Ning having a some EM other than just the usual 0, many tend to give their Geo characters you can make your crystallize shields last a bit longer.
If you did want to focus on it, you'd want an off-field damage dealer. Like take Kachina with an EM Scroll build. She pulses off-field, so provides new crystals to pick up. She'll provide DMG for the elements she crystalizes off of. Her damage is pretty meh anyway, so no big loss by focusing on EM. At C4, she buffs the active character's def, which helps the shield last longer.
Also worth noting that an EM geo can be very effective defensively against certain enemies. Specifically, PECH enemies that apply their own element to themselves, like the hydro Tulpa. You then get the 2.5k base shield, boosted by the EM, and then further boosted by the "250% against same element" factor.
@Axterix13 No need to just focus on EM for geo. I'm simply pointing it out because many people try to roll their Geo artifacts with no EM. So just having the bace they come with will be far better than the usual 0 people tend to go for.
At worst, you could always use that and infuse any sword character w/ Bennett/Candace/Chongyun to get extra elemental NA/CA damage for fun

I imagine it Capitano may need a shielder, so it may be made for him. Additionally, hoyo is probably going through a list of passive abilities and said "yeah, we already have alot of swords with differing passive abilities, so lets give them an on-field sword that works with shield."

Clorinde has a possible better team to take advantage from the passive, Clorinde, Fischl, Nahida with Inazuma catalyst and Zhongli with petra. Nahida will buff electro and dendro elemental damage, Zhongli reduce electro and dendro res, and buff electro elemental damage by the electro crystalize

You forgot that Keching also is paired with Kirara in Quicken teams, so yeah, is a good F2P option for her, even if her NA/CA are not the main output of dmg.
Also, we will have Citlali (for Ayato again?) and Yanlan next patch update.
I believe in keqing aggravate teams with kirara as her dendro applicator, her CA IS one of her main dmg output, or maybe even its the main dmg output, since both the skill and burst don't really have that HUGE multiplier or nuke dmg
@afaasfari2164 speaking of Keching, I think his dmg output is very well distributed. So NA/CA represent something like 30% of his total dmg because the rotations are quick, so you constantly using his ult and elemental skill followed by 4 or 5 CA.
If only I didn’t have both Clorind’s and Ayato’s signature weapons while pulling for Alhaitham’s

I personally use it on an electro-charged hydro-kirara team (kirara, raiden, candace, ororon), though it’s unfortunately not as optimized as it could be bc my kirara is c6, and her c4 makes her do occasional dendro damage when her shield is up + she or a team member does damage

I feel like Lan Yan will be a good support for this weapon. Consolidating shielding and VV shred into one character does a lot to mitigate the issue most shielders have with being an overall DPS loss compared to buff/debuff supports, while also allowing the on-fielder to proc the sword's passive.

I've been playing him on HoD with pretty low attack this whole time, really good gladiator build on him but I've wanted to switch to a build with more attack for the longest while. He's around 60/235 with HoD passive, do you think trading the crit DMG on HoD for this attack sword will pay off?
I yapped I know, but none of my friends have or want ayato and I need a 2nd opinion. Keep in mind I have pieces that can give me more crit rate if needed
You can also give Zhongli archaic petra. I know, blah blah crystal problems. It still makes Zhongli's buff even higher IF you manage it.
Also, if you are a brand new player, the sword will make an easy Bennet weapon in terms of 4 star base attack. At least until you randomly get something better from a banner.
what we need to put zhongli back into the meta is a spear that buffs team damage. like xilonen's sword or citlali's catalyst. if we get that, then zhongli can give 20% shred, infinite resistance to interruption, and 60.5% dmg bonus for the team. that's pretty good.

I was so excited for this sword, but it turns out the passive is misleading. It talks about "when characters are protected by a shield", which sounds like it is a team-wide buff. It would make this sword an amazing support option for so many characters like Kirara or Layla. But the passive should've said something like "when the wielding character is protected by a shield, ..."

That was a deliberate change, because "equipping character" is the standard format.

@@binsarm9026 “when characters are protected by a shield” makes it sound like the buff applies to the whole team (characterS, plural). So in other words, if the sword actually acted as described, it would be a different character doing the NA/CA
@@binsarm9026 Its more of, if the buff worked as it seemed, if you were running say a Hu Tao standard vape comp, you put the sword on Xingqiu and when you use Zhongli shield Hu tao would get the NA/CA buff from Xingqiu having the sword equipped.

A great substitute for that Liyue sword that gives bonus damage if enemies are affected with fire and thunder.
I have a feeling this was a weapon to be used also by the Pyro Traveler so he can be an on field DPS. Note that the Pyro MC will have a Pyro Infusion and his kit is heavily revolving on that.

@@victorsebastien5321 I believe it's much better than Finale of the Deep because the normal/charged + crit rate boost > the flat atk boost. The only exception would be if Furina is in the team because of the crazy dmg buff she provides but Clorinde's best reactions doesn't use Furina. So for Clorinde, this sword + shielder is better than finale of the deep, especially with the event sword also being easily refinable to R5.
i believe it will be an amazing f2p weapon for future characters, it’s amazing now with those 2 characters so i can’t imagine what hoyo is planning to release in the future

What I saw is that this sword says "characters" not "character", so it is possible that this is support weapon that would improve dmg of other characters, as long as they are protected by shield.
But I might be wrong, it might be just a translation mistake...

not really, i use the Sap wood with bennet so when i use this weapon there is no different on base atk that will change his buff from ult aaaaannndddd its same dmg. this weapon for main carry. didnt work as pass over buff like TTDS.

2 of the 3 new characters next patch are gonns be shielders. I'm fairly certain this was meant to work in a specific teamcomp with one of them (Citlali probably, as she buffs pyro and hydro units further)

I'm hoping it's good for pyro traveler. Event weapons are usually catered to characters who either just came out or are about to release.
Remember Festering Desire? People said it was trash and I still see comments of people not getting the refinements and regretting for Furina lol.

It was Albedo's BiS for a good while, and it was also used on Jean quite a bit back then.

This sword is such a gift to my account. I’m on a true no-pull account, so good weapons are hard to come by. I basically just main Traveler and almost every team I use has shields, so this sword is going to be great for her.
For me i think its for future characters with citali and mavuika coming soon

It's worth leveling, if only for the fact that the weapon itself gets a pretty considerable discount when it comes to Weapon EXP requirement, and if you have the Shogun, Ascending costs less too. Maybe I really should use this on my Keqing, since she's the only one that doesn't have a real signature weapon of her own, and it looks nice on her to boot…
for now the optimal com for this sword is Clorinde + Thoma/Zhongli
but in the future, i think this sword is prepared for (sword user) + Citlali shield

I think this weapon is made for Future Natlan. A Signature Weapon for Pryo Traveller. Citlali Shield (Cryo) + Traveller (Pryo)
I think Citlali will come with a shield, that's probably why it's released (and why it's in the Natlan event makes more sense)
We're getting 2 shielders next patch, which, coupled with a new traveler, is likely why the weapon is the way it is.

Hold on, i thought that as long as a party character has the sword equipped the passive is shared by any character protected by a shield, since it never specifies that its for the equipping character, but the characters that are protected by a shield. My Ayato's damage has boosted up greatly after using this sword. From 5-6k per tick to 9-10k. And the aesthetics are so pretty.

Tbh this sword is actually op bc of one of your party members has the sword the passive still activate even if the sword user isn't on the field
I tested it with chasca by using the sword on Layla and the passive still activates

I feel like this is going to be a Furina situation were there is going to be a character in the future that fit this wep perfectly. Like how Festering Desire was.
Off the top of my head I know Festering Desire sword also gave Crit Rate and was also only for Skill Crit Rate. Not sure about other weapons without looking. I like this weapon but the only character I could see myself using it on was my Physical Kirara but she already has Summit Shaper and her build was kinda designed around that weapon so it'll require some dmg testing on my end.
