This was such a pleasant surprise when I read it years ago. It got trashed by many King fans. I’ve re read it twice and it’s in my Top 10, perhaps Top 5. It’s fantastic! I wonder if this is a book that is more understood, more enjoyed if one is older when they read it…I think Insomnia is like this, as well.. I think having some age on us is important. I think passing through some crucial life events helps. Maybe not lol. Durfee, you did a helluva job on talking about this stunning book! I’m glad someone feels as I do about it❤❤❤
I agree with you .I Thought the book was like movie what dreams may come ..I read this one about same time the TV movie came on .didn’t know it was coming out ..it was way different and the can opener scene .i was like what going on..but it was pretty cool to see another world never thought of in it
John irving is best known for THE WORLD ACCORDING TO GARP. I liked it so much that i bought all his other books, at the time, and read THE HOTEL NH, and liked it, a lot, too, but i was in my mid 20s back then, but that was more than 40 years ago.
This one took me two attempts. I forced myself to finish this the second time. It was just really hard for me to get into Scott and Lisey's cutesy dialog between each other, it was actually pretty annoying. I found it was really slow at the beginning but became pretty climactic towards the end. I definitely want to reread this one, because, just like you, several friends of mine said they absolutely loved this the second time. I have seen several people on TH-cam share the same opinion as well. Great review too. Take care.
Off topic but the next Star Wars book in the new jedi order series for you to review, Star by Star, is my favorite Star Wars book ever. Can’t wait to hear your and everyone else’s thoughts on it.

I love the inside of the covers. I prefer the soft cover books. Great review on this book another one to buy on my wish list tfs have a good day 😊

Probably my least favorite King ever. Big swing, but a whiff.
Unfortunately lisey story is my least favorite book from king I liked the character lisey but I just couldn't connect to the book 😕

Its written for tabitha( kings lovely wife) i think theres probs some things about his own marriage in there a little id imagine
