The local foxes are not afraid of me or my dog. One fox use to walk behind us through the Woods as it was fond on my pointed eared collie (now deceased ). This Fox followed us out the Woods without my knowing ,next thing , I found it dead in the road outside my house, I guess it got run over. I was so sad. I ensure none of my dogs chase or bother any living animal. We had a fledgling bird fly in the house and Zed came right to me and showed me where the baby bird was. I scooped it up and popped it on the fence. She is such a good girl but much training required . Thanks Anneka : )
I live in the countryside and there are always baby foxes running around in my garden at night. I went outside once and they stoppped still for 2 seconds then ran to my neighbour garden. They were the cutest 🥰🥰
I feed 15 wild foxes every night and 4 are cubs, all look in good health. I've being doing this for the last 2 years. A few sit a couple of feet away. They have cooked chicken, beef, lamb, ham, vegetables, spuds, chips, croissants, bread with dog food on, chub roll, hot dogs, the odd donut as a treat and anything I consider healthy. I'm 60 and in the UK. Have large fields only at the back of my garden. Food bill is quite large and that can be a worry, but I love it 💖💖💖
Pete A i admire you and all... but doesn't that interfer with their natural way of life? Will it not also disproportionately support a bigger population of foxes based on what you provide & eventually collapse once you're no longer around? There are other more holistic ways to approach this sort of thing, by providing better habitat and so on and so forth. As much as you are enjoying being a provider for them, you maybe killing them with kindness when all is said and done. I'm interested to hear your thoughts.
@@rickknight3823 I was Thinking the same. I can Appreciate that People are Tempted to Take Care of Wild Animals but it does More Harm than Good. Unless They are Abandoned Babies or Injured it is Best to Leave Them be.
Are you trying to kill them.. They need raw, not cooked, food and no sweets or manufactured meats.. If you must feed them, give them raw meat, fruit and veggies..
Hi Pete, it's great that you want to look after these animals! To look after them the best way possible, try giving them raw meat and less processed food (no ham for example), and no bread or other forms of carbs (no donuts, I know what a shame -- it is indeed such a treat for us humans). That way it'd ease up the amount of cooking you have to do as well :) You also don't have to give them food frequently (as you do every night), because wild animals are wired to live with periodic or even sporadic meals, their metabolism is equilibrated with periodic hunting and eat base on needs or opportunity. Giving them food here and there would help them to survive for sure! Feeding them too often may dull their natural predator abilities and make them prone to diabetes and make them less resilient. Cutting down feeding frequency would help you financially as well. :) To the people who replied rudely -- with your tone, you're not helping anyone, certainly not Pete nor the foxes.
Well when you consider the fox naturally kills chickens and other farm life you understand where and why the tradition came from. Now with less farms they're not as prevalent pests; they've become these creatures we can admire. You're most likely viewing the past from a current perspective. The real current crime are farms raising and breeding them for furs.

Thank you, Anneka, for showing us what this wonderful gentleman, Trevor, and the other people in his group, are doing for those poor baby foxes. It is fantastic what they are doing. (By the way, Anneka, I loved hearing little excerpts of "The Hall of the Mountain King" from Grieg's "Peer Gynt Suite" in your video! Fantastic! 👍🐱)
Wow, good to know! :) I lived in a rural area where I would keep track of different fox families I saw around at different times of year, just while driving along back roads. Unfortunately, cars hit several of them, but there are still quite a few around the rural parts.
How many times do you think Mr Williams had to remind himself to look her in the eyes ? Wonderful little animals, and wonderful people who put their heart and soul to help natures creatures. Came for the cougar, stayed for the fox.
Hi, this is because The Fox Project is a Mecca for fox rescues. The RSPCA and other rescue units will make a point of dropping them all off there as they have the knowledge and facilities to care for foxes. So, no more foxes than usual...just all headed to the same care unit
Hi, Anneka! I just wanted to say that I love your videos and that you are very inspirational to me. The way you work with wolves is very amazing especially. I've always wanted to work with wildlife. I was wondering if you had any advice for ways I could help animals/befriend them, but I'm not sure how I can as a 14 year old! I am a huge fan and love to show your videos to my friends and family!
Hi. I was the same as you from about 5 years old onwards. I volunteered for local animal charities. I would make collections for them and do sponsored events. You can always work as a volunteer at wildlife rescues while you are in your teens. Also inspiring others to be kind to animals.
My parents have a Fox den in the back garden and over the years it has been regularly occupied. One of the smaller Foxes eventually stayed and would even sit outside with my parents when they were having their coffee just 2 meters away. They would not feed or pet the Fox, but my mum did occasionally throw it some Dog biscuits.
Baby fox is cute like all babies , I happy see people who take care, rescue animals. But I remember one night was a uinvited guest came in the farm to my family and kill all the chickens. Thank you soo much Anneka and you team for all yours fantastic videoes. Love you. 🐤🐤❤❤
Seeing people who want to help foxes is a novel experience for me, being from Australia. Over here, they are a hated pest. But in their native country, they're loved.
Many years ago, I hand reared an orphaned baby fox and eventually coaxed it back into the wild - leaving food and water out for it every night, just in case. It would play in the garden with my German Shepherd.
Hi Anneka! Animal Watch is my favorite animal-related TH-cam channel. Can you please do a video about Rottweilers? It's one of my favorite dog breeds and is also one of the most misunderstood ones, having a pretty bad reputation ( very dangerous and fearsome, it's very likely to show it's wild wolf-ish instinct). I personally think is, in fact, one of the most charismatic dog breeds in the world.
Living in a large area well out of Fairbanks, Alaska in what's called FOX, our dog became friends with a FOX. They played often all summer long & Codi Jo missed him as she rarely say him over the bitter winter! 🐾❤🐶🦊❤🐾 I axially thought of righting a children's book(s) about the two, FOX & CODI JO, but I got cancer so I didn't follow through.
