For anyone who's thinking of getting a Husky , oh yeah , they shed and energetic but my baby girl motivates me every day. I have anxiety and depression she keeps me moving.

I was getting lazy with my 14yr old terrier so I got a Malamute. He needed a play mate and go husky and more hair. I had to jump at it as Wolf was hitting 2 and a puppy fitted in. They get me out each morning and motivated.

Got my one while on the bottom, depressed. My friends dogs were only thing that made me wanna get up from bed, because there was a chance they will bring them to work. I love huskies, so I was going through animal shelter web and thinking for myself (in tears), damn, if there is a husky pup, i will take it because I have to get out of my comfort zone, to turn things upside down.. and there he was, abandoned, not knowing love while I have tones of it just to not have anybody to give it.
We are together 4 months now. he went from a sad sack of fur to a crazy doggo. And so did I. I am in constant craze from him, he needs constant attention, always pulling off some crazy stuff.. damn its a good boy

At first, I wasn't a huge fan of huskies because of the high energy and the shedding. I ended up rescuing a 2 year old because a good friend of mine was moving and couldn't take her with him. She is definitely the light of my life now, and a pampered, spoiled princess. I suffered with pretty bad depression before her and she definitely keeps me going with her bubbly bouncy personality haha

We used to have a half husky ages ago. She was my baby i absolutely adored her but my mum gave her up because she was too much work and would absolutely destroy her garden. Admittedly we didn't know how to care for her properly, i never actually realised just how energetic huskies are until i watched this video. I learned about 6 months ago that she died within a week of my mum giving her up, trying to get back to us. It's been more than 8 years since we had her and i've honestly never loved anyone as much as i loved that dog. We live near the countryside and I remember how i would set her free when i would walk her because i felt she needed more, and would need to walk for miles to get her back, but she was so happy. I wish i had watched this video then. Thank you for your videos Anneka.

I own a Husky. If you buy this dog PLEASE please please make sure it fits your lifestyle. I go hiking, walking with my dog at least once a day for about 3-4 miles at a time. They are high energy breeds with physical exercise needs!

    • @waltervega8730
      @waltervega8730 ปีที่แล้ว +2

I agree! I have a 16 month old. We walk like 3-4 times per day, plus some running. Unfortunately she was diagnosed with seizures and is on daily medication. However she has not had a seizure in over a year. The medication does make her a bit tired at times. Therefore as she's maturing she's not as active, especially when it's hot out. With that said she still has a whole lot of energy. I see so many Huskies up for adoption. Reason being, the owners aren't prepared of what this majestic breed entails. Once the cuteness wears off, and they become problematic, they give them up. They are extremely sensitive, and suffer quit a lot when they are given up. People please do your homework on the breed to make sure they fit your lifestyle. A dog is your responsibility for their whole lifespan.

I’ve had a German Shepherd, a Great Dane, an Akita a Pug and a Boston Terrier in my lifetime (so far) and my Husky has been by far the easiest one!!! I call them the bopsie twins because they have similar coloring, markings, blue eyes, etc. The male is very outgoing while the female is more reserved and shy. I also have 2 small dogs that she does not chase "like rabbits" we are all a pack. I will say she did leave my back yard once but it was due to boredom. He didn’t know anything not leash trained potty trained didn’t know any tricks like sit or lay down... now I’m training him to be my service dog and yesterday was his first day in a store (only allows service dogs and in training dogs). And he did really well. I’m 13 and training him myself and I’m very proud of how things are especially considering the behaviors of the breeds he is. Siberian Huskies can be very trainable if the owner makes the dog his or her top priority in life. We got Jake at 6 weeks old and he is 15 months now. He is my replacement service dog for mobility and hearing. He was raised with our 3 cats and is gentle with them and uses the liter box. He learns commands and tricks quickly. We run, hike, play with a pile of toys, and play soccer every day. We began off leash training at an early age. Huskies are also good in extreme heat as well as cold. We also have my retired service dog Ray, an English Shepherd, for Jake to play with. Huskies should never be left alone as they are very social. This is the perfect breed for us, but I do not recommend this dog for the average busy person. We feed our husky a special diet - Jake loves sweet potato with turmeric and coconut oil. I hope this helps other people who may want a husky.

Mine likes carrots and lettuce. I got my Malamute as a replacement for my helper dog and they had a 2 year change over to learn all. Quickly learning that they are a pack animal I had to take the leap and get him a husky. No problems training, she picks up commands quite easily. Only problem I have is that she still tries to walk across the road with out the command to cross.

always someone in the posts that give the incorrect info about "my husky goes off leash etc etc". this is bad info as huskies under about 6-7yrs old WILL take off, which can lead to traffic death or being lost for good. they aren't 'any other dog' they have certain traits that are FACT.

    • @PhoenixGenesis
      @PhoenixGenesis 7 ปีที่แล้ว +10

That's the most ridiculous think I have ever heard! That's like saying all "pitbull" breeds are inherently dangerous and aggressive. A dog is trainable if the owner is willing to take the time to train the dog. PERIOD. In fact, my Siberian Husky Jake will even pick up the leash and guide my senior dog Ray to our house. I give the command "walk the dog." I will make a TH-cam video to show this. You can see Jake swimming in the river in a video and he comes to me when he's done with his workout. Also, you can see him off leash at the park and again casually greeting me at Mike's Place and then going right back to his designated spot. But my boyfriend Steve and I work with our dogs hours every day; they do not sit in a yard and languish. Steve does a 3 to 5 mile run in the morning, then service dog training and activities, then soccer, dog park, tricks, tug-o-war, socialization with people and other dogs and cats and many other activities. We use training where I try to make my dog understand what we're doing and why it is important to listen. I do not advocate having any dog off leash all the time, but if the dog is off leash, the dog should come to its owner. If you look on TH-cam, you will find many service dog handlers such as myself has succeeded with having Siberian Huskies perform tasks to mitigate our respective disabilities. These dogs are extremely well-behaved. Additionally, huskies like German Shepherds, have "willful disobedience" and this is something a handler such as myself who is hearing impaired needs so that the dog will tug on me if I don't hear something I should. Hope this helps to clarify.

yes, aggressiveness is a pit bull trait, not originally but considering the breed has been controlled by drug dealers and hill-billies for the last 50 years this is no surprise. as to your husky, this goes against the husky's natural traits and is not fair to the dog....but i guess as long as your needs are met who care right???

Loved your Husky “paradise” video! Years ago I adopted a rust colored Husky puppy with big brown eyes from a couple who lived in a condo and were getting overwhelmed. Monty was a great find, an amazing hiking partner and a very vocal and intelligent companion who was an enthusiastic digger and escape artist. For 16 years he enriched my life and god it was devastating when he passed. Many rescue dogs later I am fascinated by Husky vocalizations, if they are not actually talking they are definitely getting close to being true conversationalists!

OMG, the magnificent ( they’re all magnificent) husky with the steel blue eyes, and white fur is a sight to behold. I fell in love with every one of them. I love how huskies connect to people. Oh, that was Husky Heaven! I got tears in my eyes, I love that breed so much..but I have nowhere near the right lifestyle. So, I will enjoy them from afar!

0:50 I had an Siberian Husky / Alaskan Malamute / Wolf mix growing up, named Jasper, who had one blue & one brown eye just like this!
His grandma was a full-blood wolf, so he was definitely more aggressive than an average Husky/Malamute (we had a running tally of animals he had caught an eaten; squirrels, birds, turtles, etc.).

Anneka, you are a total sweet heart, a very sincere pleasant person who absolutely loves the spitzer, wolf oriented dogs. I have an Alaskan Malamute and a Boerboel AKA South African Mastiff. What takes the Malamute 3 months to learn well, the Boerboel learns it in 2 weeks. Anyway I thought I read a while ago that your Malamute accidently killed your other dog, was very sorry to hear that. Malamutes are the strongest, independent, most powerful dogs around, certainly not for a novice. The husky is too high strung for me, but have a great history as they saved the lives of the indigenous polar populations by bringing them medications where other means of transportation was unavailable. God bless and keep up your awesome videos.

Bought our first huskie at 14 weeks. Loved her so much we bought another girl when our first was 6 months. Loved those two so much we bought our third a boy. The three of them were our joy and had our undivided attention. We lost all of them a few years back and have since rescued two more girls that are litter mates. They are identical except for their color. They were runaways and picked up by animal control. They are great dogs. Can't say enough positive words about this breed. We love everything about this breed. We are lucky to have had the experience of owning such wonderful pets.

I got a new pup recently and shes the complete opposite, crazy zoomies everywhere she actually bruised her ribs by running straight into a door 😂. I love her too but she is challenging at times.

Our Husky walks often without a leash. She keeps an eye on where we are and if she is too far off she comes running back. She obey's commands 95% of the time. But stereotype she is an awesome watchdog....... She will great the burglar with hugs and kisses and after that show him where the best goods are. And she IS a great pet. Spending evenings together with us on the couch cuddling. She never goes on the couch without our permission and only if there is a protective blanket on it.

Beautiful dogs. Good post -- lovely lovely dogs. Had a shepherd/husky mix.
When I first got him, he jumped up on the bed, at bedtime.
    "No, no!" I said.
"Oh," he got it and got down.
I woke up in the a.m. to go to work. And, I saw his two paws and head quite near my head. He had waited until I fell asleep - obeyed - his whole self was not on the bed, just head and front paws.
How he could have slept like that - beautiful boy, was beyond me but he did.
We nuzzled and played and I went off to work.
Many mornings I found him, just so. He was amazing.
I had to give him to a good family, when I moved. But I will never forget his gentleness, intelligence and strength.
    Wonderful dog.
    Good post.
Thank you Annic for your posts and what do you provide for these wonderful animal friends. ❤

Here in Canada, many of the dogs in pounds are huskies. We have the perfect country for having a sled dog team, but few people do. And huskies just take off and end up in rescues where it's a good place to find a team. They are lousy pets but top notch for what they are bred to do, work.

The constant eye contact is mesmerising. We love him so much. He also gives his paw at command and lies down and roll over. He will not go into the house until we dry his paws after a walk.

Love the laughter from you, always makes me smile when i am not so happy, but those who don't know when getting a dog it's not about how cute of fluffy they are it's about finding the one that fits your personality and the enviroment your living in because like he said if that specific dog is not in it's right environment they probably won't adapt to well and if your not as athletic then this dog is not for you.

I had a large husky for almost 14 years. Roxie was active up to the end. A lot of times she was a couch potato and loved to cuddle. Though she was hard to train, Roxie did well if she had plenty of treats.
She really tried to make me laugh everyday and I believe huskies are the clowns of the dog world. If I got home late from work she would chew me out and until I took her for a walk she wouldn't have much to do with me.
Would I get another husky? Yes! If the right one comes along. Huskies are great dogs but are not for every one.

Alex Leonard...what a cutie AND he clearly loves dogs. Seems like a catch :)
Beautiful dogs as well, and I feel, a deeply misunderstood breed here in the states. Where I live there’s always at least one or two in the shelters because, I think, walking your dog daily here isn’t as common as let’s say the UK, so sadly these lovely dogs are forced to be house dogs when they really need proper exercise.

I have a Siberian husky x German shepherd, and he's very chilled, loves walks and running freely to do his own exploring, but he is obedient like a Shepard and doesn't need a lead most of the time.
He does shoot off to say hi but comes back, but does love to chase chooks and will probably kill them. He's scared of our cat so shows him respect. I feed him beef or kangaroo with raw cabbage or broccoli.
