Perfect timing. Started part 1 yesterday and didn't get stuck until now with the random value not showing. Thank you for the tutorial and the follow ups :)
There was a small bug when trying to find the random value when adding the node through rotation, this can be fixed by adding the node through scale and then disconnecting it and reconnecting it with rotation, love the tutorials btw
This was the best tutorial of my life, Ive been doing Blender for a year and half now, so Ive gained enough experience to breeze through most beginer tutorials but not enough to do my own thing.Thats when I found you! I've learned how to use blender in ways I didn't even know before! I cant wait to see more videos of yours and hopefully I can save enough money to do your courses. 10/10 I'll definitely do again
I just finished this tutorial and immediately showed off the result to friends and family. I'm so happy! This is by far the BEST blender tutorial in my opinion. It's super engaging, the hours flew by quickly and I had fun experimenting with lighting, colors etc. along the way. I like that you encourage the viewer to try new things because it's the best way to learn. Also, thank you for dividing the tutorial into many short chapters! It's easier to digest that way. And the summaries in the beginning of each chapter are amazing as well. Having a rough idea of the 3-5 following steps made the whole process feel like a breeze. I tried different tutorials (from a different youtubers) before, and I may have finished them, but it was stressful precisely because there were no chapters and everything went so quickly. I felt like I was following the motions without learning what exactly I was doing and why. I used to get stuck in those tutorials several times and it was frustrating. Sometimes I had to scrap a lot of work or sacrifice the quality of the end result because it was difficult to figure out what I was doing wrong. That's why I'm happy I found your sword tutorial, I never got stuck and I was able to resolve some minor issues that came up within just a few minutes, it felt so easy! The whole tutorial took around two days for me.
Had a problem with this section: 00:29:47 I couldn't find the randomizer from the rotate section of the geometry nodes. Until I pulled from the scale section. Then I could disconnect it from scale and attach it to rotation. Problem solved.
Just finished it, it took me 10 or more hours but i didn't take breaks so i can say you made it easy to stay focused on it. Took that much because this is actually the first day using Blender
Amazing instruction from start to finish! There was never a time when the directions weren't completely clear on what to do or what is important to pay attention to. 10/10
Aaah finally after 14 hours it's completely done Thank you so much❤❤ That's what I can say to you You are doing a great job👍💯 Your explaination is world's easiest to understand and I can't even imagine how much effort and time it took to make this😢 amazing course . and the final output is super amazing And after all you made it for free on TH-cam you deserve millions of subscribers Thank you so much again❤❤❤❤
i gave up Blendergurus Donut series on part 10, i got so confused on Geometry Nodes but you made it amazingly simple. Good work! I made it through your entire series! I love your teaching style
I just finished the new blender donut tutorial if the geometry nodes get confusing I would recommend pausing the video every time he adds new nodes so you know the exact nodes and also where to put it hope this helps 🙏
@@Film-Facts-TvI can follow along with the tutorial just fine, my problem is not understanding what the geometry nodes are doing specifically (some of them make sense, others just feel like magic). But I had to redo the donut one over and over until all of the shader node mapping made sense, so some of us just need to repeat it a bunch until we understand it better I guess.
Finally, someone that put's together a consistent style of teaching with good repetition, no showing off by rattling at high speed, just flawlessly structured thought patterns, It doesn't make you look dumb to be thoughtful and considerate to your audience, whether teaching the basics or moving into the advanced stuff.
The best teacher for real! Everything is organized to chapters, you get reminders and tips. Thank you so much :D *If I had the money I would buy the Premium for sure, cuz your really know how to explain so its sinks.
I just finished this tutorial. I've been working on it over the past three days, and I'm amazed at how engaging and easy to follow it was! I could follow along in real time without having to do a lot of pausing and backtracking. I've looked into the full course, and I'm definitely getting it! I am a graphic designer and product photographer, and I've been using Blender to build product models for my clients. I enjoy it and want to bring my skills to the next level. Based on what I experienced with this tutorial and what I saw in the trailers in the course, I believe I will jump to several levels ahead. I'm really excited to learn more, and I want to thank CG Fast Track for making this one available for free!
I been using blender since 2018, now I know that this is all for beginners and I am always looking for new ways to get better. Knowledge is power and power is a tool. And as we all also know with great power comes great responsibility.
28:34 if you are having issues finding the random value don't stretch out the node from the rotation. instead you will need to add it by going shift+a and search there, and then you can connect the 2 nodes You can also have a random value on the scale so you have tiny and large rocks. of if you are using a different rock collection you can increase the size of the rocks to make them larger
I cannot thank you enough for these free videos. I can't tell you how many donut tutorials I've started and gave up over the years, but this is the first time I stuck with an entire tutorial and it feels good! Blender is less scary now and it's all thanks to you!!
I know a lot of people have already said this, but this truly is the best blender tutorial I have ever seen. I will 100% be buying his fast track! I have tried blender in the past but given up every time... I feel like I may be able to actually take blender on now! Thank you so much!
This is hands down the ONLY Blender Tutorial on TH-cam to date that can take you from "nothing beginner" and leave you feeling like you genuinely accomplished something. I'm not in a position to sign up for the CG Fast Track program, but you can be assured that once I am I absolutely will! Thank you Robby!
You have the perfect voice for these dude!! Also finding it helpful switching back and forth between 1.25 and 1.75 speed (the latter only after repeating similar processes) to help keep me focused
such an amazing series. i wish we had bloom and ambient occlusion as when the tutorial got to 01:03:54 compositing network, because i had already set up the bloom in compositing my colors were all off and the node connections kept breaking
Easy fix is to just have the Glare node that you created from the bloom / ambient occlusion update as the 2nd last node. It will go from Render Layers -> Glare -> Color Balance -> Glare (bloom / ambient occlusion version) -> Composite / Viewer.
Excellent tutorial for someone like myself who needs to fast track to the latest version of Blender after years of little use. The scope of topics and the learning of new methods and revision is just right. Converting from right click to left click selection makes the use of Blender easier, such as the use of a right c!ick context menu. Very much appreciated tutorial. Thank you!
You are the best teacher on the internet, I used to do 2d animation, but now I'm doing 3d for the first time and it's never been easier for me to learn something. Thank you for your great effort, I can't wait for part 3. Thank you!!!!
Mine is just one more voice of praise for this tutorial. It's well structured, well paced and well taught. It has proven that it is possible to teach an old dog like me, new tricks. Thank you.
Bro your tutorial are the best, it took me like 6 hours to made this 3 seconds animation but i’m so happy of the results! The best part is that i dowloaded blender yesterday
This is probably the most beginner friendly tutorial I've ever seen. Most of other shorter tutorials got me confused like 5x in 10 minutes. This one has only one confusing part (to me) in 4 hours. I really enjoyed following this one although some basic stuff like the box selection reminders felt like I'm watching some “I'd never seen a computer until yesterday“ course.
How long have i been looking for guide as this! Trying to learn Blender for 3 years on and off for now but no guide has been this great because this is very through. Thanks!
I crashed blender by messing around setting density on distribute points on faces as "600000", but watching your previous videos had helped me turn 10 - 20 minutes worth of progress lost to about 5 minutes, this is the best tutorial I've watched for anything thanks man.
I cannot express just how amazing this tutorial was for me I finally was able to start and finish a project that i could be proud of, immediately sent it to all of my friends and family to brag, i am SO HAPPY. Thank you!!
I have finally finished it took me 5 hours but this is the best tutorial it is so easy to follow and so clear thanks so much you have just earnt a subscriber and i'm sure you have earnt many more
It's pretty mind-blowing, how much depth is involved in setting up even a still shot, let alone animation. I think that some people just have a knack for it and others, like me, do not. My thinking is too linear, too straight-line intellectual. My nemesis has always been lighting and all the stuff involved in making a shot look good, cinematic, etc. Right-brain stuff.
I've never touched blender in my life and I followed this tutorial all the way through. My mind is blown!! Your instructions are clear and easy to follow. This was really addicting. Can't wait to make more.
Grateful for your tutorials. I was able to create this awesome sword and played around with different lighting, etc. Thank you so much for kickstarting my blender journey!!
Default interpolation was on constant and I could not get the camera animation to stop immediately jumping from one position to the next on the last frame. Just had to change the default interpolation to linear in preferences and on the timeline, delete all keyframes and set them again. Took 20 min for me to figure out, but animation is playing smooth now! 😵💫😅 This is my return to Blender since the 2.x days so I’m trying to problem solve and experiment this time. Good luck to everyone!
@CGFastTrack just wanted to say thankyou for creating this tutorial, its both comprehensive and covers a wide area of knowledge for beginners like myself, appreciate your work alot man, youre a great teacher

Thank you so much the tutorial really helped me a lot starting with blender, I'd like to know if there's any way to completely change the color of the lightning though? thank you again
Although I have some previous experience with Blender, this is the first tutorial series I've finished. I got halfway through the iconic donut tutorial, and stopped for two reasons: chonky computer, and I got lost when my screen wasn't the exact same as in the video. I think the Minecraft tutorial is a better starting point (comparing to either the flaming monkey head or the donut itself). The sword tutorial is a great second project, but personally, it became a blur when I wasn't sure where certain values came from or why this is the next step. That confusion will clear up as I become more proficient. The donut tutorial could make an excellent third project. I appreciate all the teachers in the Blender community, especially those who keep it up to date with the release of Blender versions.
My first ever actual project on blender and this video/tutorial helped understand alot of things needed tbh gives me alot kf motivation to start working on some of my own projects
First, thank you so much for providing such a detailed free tutorial, I am having a lot of fun doing this! Now, I am leaving this comment in case someone else find themselves in the same situation. As I was setting the Lazy lightening, I realized that the lightening was not reaching my pommel tip at the same frequency (it reached it the first time at like 126 seconds). I am a total beginner so I am just saying it out of my own observations. Geometry nodes ( or maybe just nodes in general) are quite sensitive or rather order dependent. Even when joining two nodes, the Object info node of the "Pommel time" "wire" needs to be under the one of the "Emitter Guard". This is shown by the twisting connections compared to the gap between the two wires for the two other object info nodes. I may have missed this explanation as I am doing it on my spare time, which is real late at time, but yeah, I though this could help. Edit: played with the connections a bit and it seemed to only truly changed when I switch the order of the connections of the Object info on the Join Geomerty node. I still got a lot to learn! :)
this is my second ever blender project attempt. I made a dancing robot which was incredibly fun. then decided to attempt this tutorial. its incredible. I'm completely new and this tutorial has just been insane I'm more than likely going to go premium and go through the full course. if the quality is like this its worth.
43:17 If you aren't seeing custom distance or the camera is showing just black, it means that the render properties aren't correct. on the side pannel, select render (the camera icon) and change the render engine to EEVEE.
I'm very thankful for your tutorial... even though I have no experience I manage to finish it and took me 5 days, all in all from part 1 to 3.... that was so challenging to render such munificent and also thank for free download that you proved with us... Now I figure out that I need much stronger GPU for this...
This is the best Blender tutorial I have ever scene and a great tutor, literary I mean i stayed focused and ever woke-up till night just to do my project because of your teachings thanks😊...I completed it in 12 to 14 hours minimum .And Still waiting for More videos...
Thank you so much for the great tutorials! I started learning Blender yesterday with the classic donut tutorial and I've already been finding spots where I can try to work ahead after hearing the upcoming steps, then use the tutorial as a guide to make sure I did everything correctly. It's been a fun and exciting experience for me going through this. Keep it up!
hey man, in the render settings there is a "volumes" tab that basically does the same thing, you'll have the distribution settings here as well as the start and end range, hope it helps
I was able to finish part 1, 2, and 3, you have been an amazing teacher, on showing me how to do everything I needed to, to stay on track, I really appreciate you doing this, and if you have any tutorials in the future do let me know, or if you can refer other youtube channels that do things similar to you, that would help to. Thanks again ^-^
Ok so I was no noob to Blender and been making animated rigged Game ready stuff for a very long time and just wanted to learn more then what I was doing. This took me the same time of each video but I did learn a lot of things i never knew and this is why I followed along. I learned Nodes and how to set them up and learned affects and a lot more then i ever knew. To the regular box modeling and rigging and texturing there is a lot more I did not know. So I think I will join the program next week when I can afford it to learn better ways to doing things. Thank you very much.
thanks a lot its really help me to understand blender in one tutorials as I am beginner . if any one wanted to learn blender you can start with this tutorials
Just finished this project as a complete beginner. Looks really cool. I will say though that going from the Minecraft thing to the sword is a huge jump. The Minecraft thing is very straight forward and only introduces the basics while the sword introduces most of the modes in Blender I think. I think I may have prefered one or two projects that are in between the Minecraft thing and the sword before tackling the sword.
I love this guy vids he explains so well that everyone can understand this is truly 100percent for beginners but my computer lags cuz of the amount of objects is there a way to fix it?
Note for 1:11:07 you don't need to adjust the compression for PNG images as it won't affect the image quality. PNG is a lossless format, so compression just affects the filesize. More compression will make it take a little longer to save and load, but because it's lossless, the quality isn't affected. JPG compression does affect quality, however.
Again, great tutorial. I was wondering though if you'll ever make videos on other weapons and Armor? I was hoping you could cover rounded weapons like Magic Staves and Rapiers? If the lectures are going to be apart of the Fast Track course then I'd gladly sign up.

GREAT TUTORIAL!!!! Thank you so much. I think I might look into the premium membership thing, it looks so cool
It was good working with you 🤝
Thak you sir, I made it till here. I hope i could continue exploring blender even more. You are one the best teachers I have found
I made exact copy of excalibur by watching your videos, i love it and I wanna learn more. Thank you so much.❤
I did this after following the donut tutorials and you still showed me several new things and the end result is so cool!
this is my second ever blender project attempt. I made a dancing robot which was incredibly fun. then decided to attempt this tutorial. its incredible. I'm completely new and this tutorial has just been insane I'm more than likely going to go premium and go through the full course. if the quality is like this its worth.
can't explain how happy i'm to compete this thanks bro

43:17 If you aren't seeing custom distance or the camera is showing just black, it means that the render properties aren't correct. on the side pannel, select render (the camera icon) and change the render engine to EEVEE.
thx buddy , I was stuck at this point
I'm very thankful for your tutorial... even though I have no experience I manage to finish it and took me 5 days, all in all from part 1 to 3.... that was so challenging to render such munificent and also thank for free download that you proved with us... Now I figure out that I need much stronger GPU for this...

Keep it up!
Alright I followed from Part 1, and Part 2, through and through, I can't wait to follow you through part 3, looking forward to it today.
I'm also doing a challenge of 100 days in blender.
I just finished part 2 doing 3 tomorrow
bro this is the best tutuorial I have seen on blender fr
I can not find the volumetric in Render properties
Im in blender 4.2
hey man, in the render settings there is a "volumes" tab that basically does the same thing, you'll have the distribution settings here as well as the start and end range, hope it helps
same
I was able to finish part 1, 2, and 3, you have been an amazing teacher, on showing me how to do everything I needed to, to stay on track, I really appreciate you doing this, and if you have any tutorials in the future do let me know, or if you can refer other youtube channels that do things similar to you, that would help to.
In case y all dont see the ground (only some points that are pink) at 37:04, look at the group output and input to be as he did in the video.
Thank you so much for this series. This is the best beginner tutorial I've come across (better than the donut one)
thanks a lot its really help me to understand blender in one tutorials as I am beginner . if any one wanted to learn blender you can start with this tutorials
Best tutorial I've ever seen. Thank you
Best tutorial. It was too much practical way of learning.
Frustration throughout the time 0%. Love you brother ❤.
Thanks for that tutorial ! Just finished my sword and I really like it ! :)
Man thank you so much you earned your self a sub this was the best tutorial ever looking forward for more tutorials😊
1:49:13 the Animation you made here I've attempted it
Finished my attempt in about ~50minutes
AMAZING TUTORIAL LOVING EVERY MINUTE
Note for 1:11:07 you don't need to adjust the compression for PNG images as it won't affect the image quality. PNG is a lossless format, so compression just affects the filesize. More compression will make it take a little longer to save and load, but because it's lossless, the quality isn't affected. JPG compression does affect quality, however.
Amazing tutorial, hope to see more from you! Keep up the great work! ❤
Again, great tutorial. I was wondering though if you'll ever make videos on other weapons and Armor? I was hoping you could cover rounded weapons like Magic Staves and Rapiers? If the lectures are going to be apart of the Fast Track course then I'd gladly sign up.
29:23 if you can't find RANDOM VALUE press SHIFT + A -> UTILITIES -> RANDOM VALUE and then SWITCH FLOAT TO VECTOR then Attach with the ROTATION
