Ding the last few years, 'Call an ambulance!' Ding today, 'But not for me!' Can't wait to see the rest, maybe it will be much more of a match than I thought.
After all the chatter about Ding's readiness for the championship, this has to feel incredible for him. Winning with black in game 1 is not something many people will have predicted! Great analysis as always Jerry, I can't wait for the rest of the matches.
Been watching your WCC coverage in one form or another since Carlsen/Karjaken. Yours was the first I was excited to see this morning. Also thank-you for the Tale of the Tape I couldn't find it anywhere else.
One thing to note at 18:37 If after the game's conclusion point with Kh8 we saw Be5, trying to set up Qxh6#, well, first off that hangs the bishop, but second, Qg2# would be an immediate mate by Black.
Saw the blog post on Lichess at work. First thing I thought was I hope Jerry has his review ready by the time I got home and settled with dinner. Lucky me, it is! Thanks for keeping up with another WCC match.
I watched this in real time. I was hoping Ding was ready, and he played brilliantly. Even with Gukesh pacing back and forth in front of him while he was in deep thought. Intentionally creating a distraction? Go Ding. I hope to watch more of this.
Great analysis as always, Jerry. I honestly think Gukesh is too big a favorite in this match. Now, I'm still picking him to win but with odds I'd put a buck or two on Ding.
14:08 bishop to c5, was the best move for gukesh, hit the queen, prevent castling, gain 1 or 2 tempos... great game coverage jerry as always...❤ also those pawns on a2, a3, created too much distraction and queen devotion around them for gukesh...
Thank you for your video as always Jerry! You missed a funny queen sacrifice after 30. Bc5 Qxg4 31. Qxh7, threatening mate! The position could only be saved with another crazy queen sacrifice, Qd4+.
Thanks Jerry, great analysis as usual 👏. Was wondering why you are not streaming this time ? I guess it is due to the match start time of 4 am EST for you :). But for once , for fans like me in Down Under 8 pm local time is a good prime time slot for this match.
Last time i watched the championships without carlsen.. i felt like the lkevel was low.. now this game was almost boring.. i miss the old carlsen vs caruana games. those were realy fun to watch
It's not disrespectful, at least he is shaking hands. If he didn't shake hands, then that would be possibly considered as disrespectful. But you don't have to stand up for Ding, he isn't an alien overlord where peasant humans have to stand up and shake hands and kiss the feet and stuff. Gukesh shook hands, that's good enough.
Is this video sponsored by google? You have their logo in the corner, but I can’t see any other indication in the description - if it’s sponsored you should be clear about it
Both have earned the right to be there under the existing conditions which all top players abide by. It may or may not be a perfect process but there it is, and these two have beaten the opposition in front of them to take their seats. It isn’t their fault that you can’t play against somebody who doesn’t wish to play. You can’t cancel the title because somebody doesn’t want to play. You can’t award the title indefinitely for the same reason. The game needs playing and these are the deserved contenders. That’s the point.
Both Hikauru and Caurana lost in the candidates tournament. The winner plays the champion ( which was Gukesh). Ding liren is the current champion, so he has to defend his title.

Hey Jerry, are you planning to do live coverage of some the games in this world championship match?
Is the "presented by google" really necessary?

He’s never gonna respond to one of these, isn’t he?
@@achillesyoutube8773 He starts every video with a curse word that has to be BLEEPED.

Ding when it comes to non world title games: I sleep
Ding in world championship: this is real stuff
I understand the meme but you can't sleepwalk your way through a challenger's tournament
Ding in 2024*
Great commentary as always. Please Jerry, if possible, add move times
Seconding this!
His entire interface needs to be updated. These older channels would get more views that way
As well as FIDE ratings
@@unknown-unknown69 well, they won't change during the tournament

MY 5th world championship watching chessnetwork. Thanks for the years of good commentary

I'm so happy you're covering this WCC, Jerry! For some reason I thought you wouldn't be. You're simply the best at what you do :)
"Take care, bye".
Great timing, didn’t have to wait long for your review
Thank you Jerry for covering this !
Let the games begin!🎉
Great! Happy I discovered your channel recently before this Championship
👍
I paused watching chess for so long until this very moment 😂
Great job as usual Jerry! I enjoy the instructive insights, and your low-key "Just the facts" approach.
Thank you 👍

Not this time. I posted a comment on this channel’s community tab.

A positional master-class from Ding 🎉
I was hoping you would be sharing insights about yet another world championship match. Thank you Jerry!

What an unbelievable game. You couldn't ask for a more exciting position.

Thanks for covering this
I'm confused: is the Championship sponsored by Google, or your game reviews?
The championship is
I was also confused about this, it's a bit odd to plaster a corporate logo on a 20 minute video while not being sponsored.
I wasn’t even aware the Championship Match had started. Masterful work on both sides.
Great analysis as always. Are you planning to do live coverage on Twitch?
Jerry please show the contestants clock time... thx
Ding is so subtle I had a feeling something like this will happen. Besides congratulations to Ding!❤
Hi Jerry..why are you not covering it live...really missed your coverage..
I read online there might be a different format for the time controls than you described. Increment comes later, 60 moves in.
Looking forward to Game 2.
Come at the champ, ya best not miss, Gukesh!
Hi Jerry. Will you be streaming coverage on Twitch this year? I've always loved your coverage!
Very good comments. Thank you!

the best review yet people just care about the big names reviews
How exciting !
2 blunders from Gukesh, I hope he's not too hard on himself and recovers for the remaining games
Unexpected start like 1927 Capablanca v Alekhine, also a french defence.
WCC with ChessNetwork commentary, the tradition is alive!!!!!

1:07 Gukesh not standing up to shake Dings hand is disrespectful.
True, but it's the first game of a world championship for an 18 year old
Good chess players tend to be autistic, likely not meant to be disrespectful at all.
Is it? I don't think it matters. A handshake is a handshake
It's not disrespectful, at least he is shaking hands. If he didn't shake hands, then that would be possibly considered as disrespectful. Why are these 2 fighting it out when one is 4th of FIDE and the other is 23rd...while Hakuru is 3rd and Caruana is 2nd?
Because Hikaru and Caruana didn’t win the candidates :)
Because ratings are temporary. Ding and Gukesh have won games that matter to reach this
