Yeah, the problem with unrelated languages that don’t even share the same grammar is exactly that. You can express yourself so well in your native language, but the mental bridge created when thinking in another language is immense.

@thierrywilly4480 because it takes time of the players who prepare so hard with their team for the next day. In a normal tournament that's ok . But not for a world championship match . It's so stressful for players
@@joylife428I can't see why answering a few simple questions would add any detectable amount of stress compared to how stressful the match itself is. they're not little children, they're professional players.
The woman basically asked Ding three questions: (1) Why did you take so long to play move #7? To which Ding basically said he had to ponder for a long time because he wasn't expecting what Gukesh played. (2) Why the choice of the French Defense? Ding acknowledged that it was a risky choice, because white had many possible lines of response. But he decided to play it anyway, probably to surprise his opponent. (3) Now that you have won the first game, does that change your overall approach to the match going forward? Ding, with his usual circumspection and reticence, said that since he has never led in a WC match before, this is a new experience for him, and he will have to take some time over the next day to consider this whole thing. He also said that he can't divulge much else, because it's a secret 🙂
Remember, Vishy had first blood with Kasparov, but the loss fueled some drive, and Garry struck back with 4 wins split by a single draw, so if we learned anything, these matches can be unpredictable. That's exciting, and I'm expecting some sparks. It's far too early for predictions.
Ding was out of prep after C3?!? That’s a bit surprising. To play that well 40 minutes down, definitely shows “something”. G got exactly what anyone can hope for out of the opening (huge time lead and OP out of prep) and was basically outplayed in the mid game, needs to recoup and not lose confidence. Magnus was spot on in his prediction, Ding will have the first big chance as it’s unrealistic to expect G to play anywhere near his peak G1, due to nerves.
Super GM level chess is a game of positional play, if you see the history it's the positional players who have always been consistent and as a result winners for a long time
People are making a big deal about one game The guy that wins the first game usually loses the match Fischer was down 0-2 Kasparov was down 4-0 Anand struck first against Kasparov in 95 Karjakin won first against Magnus Kramnik won first in 2000 I'm not sure Kasparov won a single game
New to watching competitive chess. Why do the players analyse the game in such detail with their opponent immediately post-match? Doesn't it expose their thinking and tactics in a 14 match game?
Some people who don't know what it is are jus curious.. but I see your point.. it has nothing to do with chess so I too don't see the point of that question

Good exciting game,im sure Gukesh will be back,he is such a class act young man 🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙂 congratulations to Ding 😊
GG Ding!
Give Ding a translator. When he gets to reply in chinese his response is actually well thought out. Even though he has no problem understanding the questions in english, he struggles to formulated a response
Oh, Ding's English has improved so much! I have no trouble understanding any word he is saying.
Yeah, the problem with unrelated languages that don’t even share the same grammar is exactly that. You can express yourself so well in your native language, but the mental bridge created when thinking in another language is immense.
How is your chinese?
L comment
About 300 elo. In Chinese. Although I tend to pronounce it “ero” in an attempt to mimic Chinese pronunciation. Much love to the”Ding” and to the “DGukey” two good young men of talent skill and humility.
Happy for Ding. Well deserved win 👏
DING ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I do not think a press conference is needed for every game in world championship match .
Why?
@thierrywilly4480 because it takes time of the players who prepare so hard with their team for the next day. In a normal tournament that's ok . But not for a world championship match . It's so stressful for players
@@joylife428 The stress is part of it all
@@oliverberglas4188 creating stress for the players for the sake of advertisement is not FIDEs job . 🧐🧐🧐
@@joylife428I can't see why answering a few simple questions would add any detectable amount of stress compared to how stressful the match itself is.
they're not little children, they're professional players.
Ding's last year was all strategy for this match ;-)
Congratulations Liren!
Wow his English improved so much in just a year 😳 that’s really impressive
what was the translation of the chinese question and answer

Congrats to Ding coming through strong! Many people discounted him but he didn't listen to the naysayers! Let's go Ding!
game 1 is a wake up call for gukesh
I saw the first move Ding mentioned he got lucky for
SEMANGAT GUKESH ....
Remember, Vishy had first blood with Kasparov, but the loss fueled some drive, and Garry struck back with 4 wins split by a single draw, so if we learned anything, these matches can be unpredictable. That's exciting, and I'm expecting some sparks. It's far too early for predictions.
not google sponsoring and them still not being able to translate lol
Let's Go Ding!
11:30 gukesh reaction 😂😂
Ding was out of prep after C3?!? That’s a bit surprising. To play that well 40 minutes down, definitely shows “something”. G got exactly what anyone can hope for out of the opening (huge time lead and OP out of prep) and was basically outplayed in the mid game, needs to recoup and not lose confidence. Magnus was spot on in his prediction, Ding will have the first big chance as it’s unrealistic to expect G to play anywhere near his peak G1, due to nerves.
Gukesh will definitely win WC❤ THATHASTU 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿 JAI SHREE RAM
Super GM level chess is a game of positional play, if you see the history it's the positional players who have always been consistent and as a result winners for a long time
Kasparov?? Alekhine?? Tal??
Ding is so innocent looking
True
Not false
Only the first game, championship isn't decided off of one game.
To Mike Klein from a Chinese speaker: It's Ding Liren, not Lizhen. There's an R in there. 🤓
I'm surprised these guys would discuss what was on their minds, but I haven't watched much WCC in the past.
Gukesh’s prep seemingly would not be enough
Pretty sure Magnus made a prediction somewhere, where he said if it starts off like this, Gukesh will most likely not have any chances?
Nah he just said Ding wouldnt have any chances if he lost the first game. So well probably have a close fight now.
@@emperorsascharoni9577 he said ding would get the chances first and its upon him if he takes them or not and he certainly did
6:26 "you were supposed to be in bad shape" the El Pais guy's question was atrocious
I had a lot of time to chill lol Ding is chilling
Ding chilling
Who knows all those stories were true..may be a tactic to become the world champion again..
No game 2 press Conference?
I loved the Chinese talk😀✌🏻
Why is no one talking about how sad and awkward the whole room sounds with bad questions and people on their phones
It looks like the match is going to be a fight. Great!
God, talk about the worst possible game 1 result for Gukesh. We’ll see if he can handle the nerves and play from behind.
some things should be kept secret till the end of the match ...
Gukesh !!!!
Wouldnt be surprised if ding use cow opening next match to throw gukesh off
Really? First win for ding in 38 clasical matches ,
People are making a big deal about one game
The guy that wins the first game usually loses the match
Fischer was down 0-2
Kasparov was down 4-0
Anand struck first against Kasparov in 95
Karjakin won first against Magnus
Kramnik won first in 2000
I'm not sure Kasparov won a single game
It's actually good for gukesh to knew ding is back in form .
Ding seems to be proud of his English. Don't give out too much, though..
Seems like ding's Mandarin is better than mine
因为他是一位中国人呀
@@arulraj6897it’s a joke I guess. 我猜他只是想表达,第一次在fide大会上听到说中文,因为这不常见。
New to watching competitive chess. Why do the players analyse the game in such detail with their opponent immediately post-match? Doesn't it expose their thinking and tactics in a 14 match game?
bro wtf is this question ???
15:23
Classic media trying to milk content knowing they cannot ask any chess based questions
Bro thought it was about the yellow ribbon project
Better question than the one following it.
Some people who don't know what it is are jus curious.. but I see your point.. it has nothing to do with chess so I too don't see the point of that question
DON'T UNDERESTIMATE AN INTROVERT,DING ALL THE WAY ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Lol his last answer is so diplomatic 🤣🤣🤣
I like Gukesh’s attitude of being neutral.
has anyone got translations for the chinese questions
That reporter from Spain asked a question in such poor taste.
Tbh English isn't his first language either, perhaps he didn't want to phrase it like that
All of the questions are terrible, imagine coming all the way from Germany to ask Gukesh about some bracelet he was wearing
@@Regulardude12338 yeah the reporters are trying to appeal to a wider audience or sth, but really silly
Ding let everyone underestimate him
He pranked indians
If i asked them those questions my uncle would slap me
