    Wow, another version of my fav tofu pocket dish. I usually make the japanese version with aburage tofu, cut in half to make 2 pockets and fill them with mochi rice and a slice or two shitake mushroom, tie with kanpyo (gourd strings) and cook it with soy sauce, dashi broth, mirin and sake 😋

      Hi Lily, we didn't blanch the tofu puffs but you can rinse them in water and then squeeze the puffs dry before using but actually we wouldn't recommend that. If you're worried about the cleanliness of the puffs, go for a reputable brand.

    That corn flour looked a lot like corn starch. I have seen many Asian recipes call for corn starch in the early stages of preparing a dish, but never corn flour. Can anyone clarify if it is actual flour, or if it's actually corn starch?

    • @davidf.8345
      @davidf.8345 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Cornflour (1 word) is same as corn starch. Corn Flour (2 words) is like corn meal that has been further ground down so it has a AP wheat flour feel to it. Not sure about the rest of the world, but these are the US “definitions “

    • @spicenpans
      @spicenpans  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi David, i just realised that cornflour and cornstarch are different in the United States. In Singapore, we only get one type which we call it cornflour or cornstarch interchangeably. Maybe it'll be easier to let you know how our cornflour aka cornstarch looks like - it's whitish in colour. Hope this helps.
