    This was really interesting to watch. Seeing them push that clear glass over those roller wheels made me cringe, lol, because all I could think about is all the work that had gone into making & encapsulating that panel only to be potentially scratched by those rough-looking wheels!!! I'm sure they know what they're doing! I'm guessing that's tempered glass (does it scratch easily?). Can't wait for the follow up video on installation! Thanks Miss Sophie 😘

      Yes, it's quite an industrial process! Windows do tend to be toughened glass - but they could still scratch. They never seem to be scratched by the making process though.

    Cool. I've only seen it done with a Y came perimeter until now. Did you use standard cement?

      Yes but I give it a long time to set before encasing it.

    Really interesting to see how it's done! How do you know what size to make your stained glass piece to take account of it being encapsulated?

      Minus 13mm from your dimension on all sides

      Your glaziers will help you with that but basically the spacer is 12 mm so that's what you have to take off all round.

    Very interesting. Thanks. I saw you attempting to get some last minute cleanup done on the panel a couple times. It looked like you did not get it all. Did those "spots" show through at the end or was that just the camera angle? I probably would have been saying, "Wait! Wait! Let me finish this minor cleanup before the panel is encapsulated for all time!" Then, they would have promptly shown me to the door so they could finish their job without being bothered! Looking forward to seeing the installation. Do they charge per panel or is it based on size of the panel, time and materials? Do they also do the install or do you take it back from them and do the install yourself?

      Yes...that panel seemed to have got a bit dirty during storage. You would generally want them cleaner than that before encapsulating. That being said, because of the type of glass the dirt didn't show at all. I never install the units myself as It's a standard job for a builder or glazier with no specialist stained glass knowledge needed. I don't involve myself in the pricing for encapsulating - my glaziers invoice the clients directly.

      @@SophiesStainedGlass Thank you for your reply. Interesting that the glaziers invoice the clients directly. Do you have an idea of how the installation is charged? Per panel? Per staff hour? Per staff day? Materials, etc.?

      @@candeeham7423sorry I don't know. Don't think they charge that much more than a normal unit as it doesn't add too much time to the job.

    Does it affect the guarantee on a sealed unit by putting a stained glass panel inside?

    • @SophiesStainedGlass
      @SophiesStainedGlass  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on your glazier. My glazier gives their usual guarantee. I've used them for over 10 yeas and none of their units have failed.

    Is it tempered glass?
