    Sophie..can I just tell you how much your videos have helped me and how important it is to know you are there with your wealth of knowledge and great attitude to all things stained glass!
    I came to the world of stained glass very late in life. Having done course for a day I fell in love with lead work and with foiling. After the course I began surfing the internet for the best help and advice...and that was YOU!
    You have such a fun personality, superb knowledge and you appear to cover absolutely everything in your videos. That is invaluable for an enthusiastic beginner like me.
    It's amazing how you take the time to be so generous with your great knowledge.
    I can't thank you enough....you are definitely by stained glass guru.
    Don't worry ...I'm not a stalker ....just a huge fan!😉

    Loved the ASMR bit. 😂 Seriously, though, just found this video as I was trying to figure out what kind of brush to buy for polishing stained glass. Very helpful, thank you!

    Great video on scrubbing brushes. I started dabbling in Stained glass just over a year ago and have learned so much from your videos, and now know far more about brushes than I did a few days ago! Thank you 😊

    What a great subject. I was just talking with someone about the ideal firmness of bristles for polishing a panel. So pleased to hear it’s not just me!

    Thanks so much for making this great video! I just finished my first Lead panel and I need to purchase some new brushes. Now, I know which ones to purchase.😊

    You can also put a used cement brush in a ziplock bag and into the freezer. It will thaw quite quickly and be ready for use. Also, suspending a used cement brush above some white spirit in a tupperware type container will keep the cement soft indefinitely.

    • @SophiesStainedGlass
      @SophiesStainedGlass  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow. So interesting! Do you mean that you freeze a used brush and then the cement just comes off?

    • @apricusstainedglass
      @apricusstainedglass 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SophiesStainedGlass No, with both methods the cement on the brush remains on the brush and is simply used again for the next panel as if the brush was clean. Brush cleaning is permanently completely avoided.

      @@SophiesStainedGlass Unused cement covered in water will keep fresh indefinitely. Just pour away the water and start cementing.

    Thank you so much for your very informative video!! I did have a question about the brush that you use to remove whiting and access cement. What is the name or the brand of that brush? Im trying to find one like it and having a difficult time. Thank you so much!

      If only I knew! I guard my brush with my life as I have no idea where I'd find another one if anything happened to it!

    Whilst on the topic of cleaning up! Do you have a preference for glass cleaner? Or ones to avoid?

    • @SophiesStainedGlass
      @SophiesStainedGlass  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually I don't clean my glass that often - so I do have a glass cleaner but it's nothing special. The time I always clean my glass is before painting it - when I use the paint itself as a cleaner. When do you clean your glass?

  • @7millky
    @7millky 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Fantastic, thanks Sophie, may seem an odd topic but it’s so helpful and useful! Where did you find the cementing brush please? I shall be scouring my local diy shops for the coir ones.

      £1 shops seem to be the richest source of brushes. You have to be a bit of a hunter gatherer!

    I can't find the 'white bristles' brush. The one you like most. In what kind of store you found it? or what is it made for?

    • @SophiesStainedGlass

      I find the best places to hunt brushes out is £1 shops and cheap little corner shops. I never know what I'll find or when.

    Sophie, your intro make me laugh out loud.
    I wondered which brushes to use for various applications. I never seem to have the right brush.
