And they were very careful to not show gameplay these last few weeks because the one video they did with IGN that did got them tore up in the comments.
Such a bummer. I had been waiting on this game for 2 years. I even held off of buying Enshrouded because this was coming so soon after. Not... I am going to buy Enshrouded and I guess I will check in on this game in a year or so.
I'm loving this game, but I'm also somebody who enjoys making a spreadsheet to track the bonuses from various crafting materials. The one nice thing I'll say about always-online is that you and your friends can share a home realm & work out of the same base without needing to rent a server or play at the same time!
It was initially tagged as a group survival mmo. They told us to build a community. So with that premise the always online is key to the concept. They never once billed this as a solo survival game...... so i doubt it'll ever get an offline mode
@@dennisvogel5982 That's such a deal breaking for the majority of survival game players though. Many enjoy playing these games solo, or with close friends. I love survival games, but our internet could never play an online only game consistently. AND reading through the reviews folks with great internet are already having terrible lag spikes just playing solo, not even with friends. I understand the game is in early access, but not having an offline only version for solo survival fans turns a lot of people away from what looks like a really cool game.
CDkeys… I got it for $20 You’re not going to find it for cheaper than this and they’re going to potentially sell out of keys at this price. CDkeys is legit, never had any issues with them and I’ve purchased so many games from there
They have every lighting option under one setting... You set it to balance and the game looks ass, you set it to quality. The game looks great, you have SSAO, atmospheric fog, lights oh and F-ing ray tracing which kills your fps... Oh and the game don't have fullscreen just borderless....... Really hard feature to implement I guess xD
@@AtakenSmith Lumen isn't the same as raytracing, it's software based and around 2.5 times faster. That said, they really should not have everything in one option. Perhaps there's a configuration file that lets you set them individually.
been playing for 15 hours with no problems aside from when they did the hotfix last night. no lag, no bugs, just fun. sucks that people are having issues because it's already really fun and i look forward to what they do with it in the future. I like anything to do with the Fae, Exploring has been rewarding. totally agree that the online only thing does suck. I don't find the ui to be that annoying. this is an early access game so these issues can totally be fixed. idk i'[m into it but i can see how it's not for everyone.
I've never played the game and don't generally care for survival games anyway, but I just facepalmed when he started talking about Puck. Like, one, you don't know what Pucks are, and two, that's exactly how they would fuck with you. 😆
I held off, and despite the complaints I bought it anyway. I love the idea of survival games, but I’ve not really found one that’s compelling in terms of environment or aesthetic. I love the setting of this game and I love collecting and crafting. I too can see how it’s not for everyone, especially given the cool strange creatures shown in the trailer, as I’ve only encountered a couple so far, but I am very early in. I’ve also seen some people say it’s not a good looking game and I gotta wonder what settings they’re running on. I have everything on quality or ultra, and damn I was watching a sun set last night and it was one of most beautiful things I’ve seen in any game. I’m looking forward to playing more today.
As someone that doesn't really find much appeal in survival games, this one stood out to me. Love the victorian and fantasy vibes, but the issues do sound quite off putting. If most of them are solved over time i might give it a shot.
I tried it myself and got a refund. Ignoring all the problems the game itself has, the shit ping, rubber banding, teleporting monsters made me just give up on it. Always online killed this game…. Even though I loved the art going into it… Though the characters’ faces look like abused boiled potatoes and the very first piece of clothing you are forced to make and equip looks horrendous (immediately replacing the cool clothing you got to choose in the beginning…)
@@GravitasZero its always online because its a survival mmo kind of game. it has dungeons and world bosses etc. so the online aspect is integral to the game. it having issues with online connectivity is most likely a server side issue. its just come out. id expect these problems to get fixed eventually. like, you can play palworld online as well and at launch, servers were pretty much unusable. same with ark. the servers were trash for ages until they were fixed/upgraded
I think one thing to keep in mind. This is an Early Access release. Apparently, pretty early access. Which is a bummer. I actually enjoy survival games. Minecraft, valhem, no man's sky, and even palworld. I have been waiting for this game for 2 years since announcement. I'm going to wait on it. I held off on enshrouded, for this game. Now... I'm going to just grab Enshrouded.
@@nerdjournalenshrouded has its performance issues as well. There's even portions of the map that aren't coupled together properly which you can literally see the underside of the entire map.
I am playing from Australia and I have not had one bug. Perhaps is because I am playing at different time to Americans. Great game. Am having a lot of fun.
@@davidwilliams6392 different regions could get different releases of the game. creating a different, more unstable or vice versa experience. unlikely with this game but im in the americas and havent had any problems aside from when we had the downtime for the maintenance and update
Thanks for the honest review. I’ve seen a lot of hype for this game but some reviewers either downplay or fail to mention the gameplay issues and overall lag. The game looks completely cool but definitely needs to cook a little more.

I bought this, played around with it for a bit and I have to say I agree with the critique here. I want to love this, but it just needs more time to flesh out the game and fix what doesn't work, gameplay or bugs.
I'm going to say what I said to someone else who reviewed it. It's working fine for me. There's a some bugs and glitches, but nothing game breaking for me. I'm loving the story, mostly. Yeah, it's a bit long-winded but bearable. At least for me, because I enjoy learning lore. I experienced a bit of lag due to the whole always online crap. But it is what it is. I can only hope they change that for solo play, as that's all I play these days. I didn't play any of the tests. All in all, I'm enjoying the game.
One of the reasons I like Minecraft so much is that the crafting is simultaneously deep but simple. Making an axe, easy. Making portals, enchanting tables, repairing elytra and making fireworks etc there's so much to it and the Redstone stuff? Wow.. I don't think anyone has beaten Minecraft really, not yet anyway. People still dismiss it for the visuals, but it's one of the best games ever.
heuuuu.... No.... People dismiss it because it's suppose to be a survival game, but it's way too easy, we have NOTHING too survive. I was only playing Hardcore and just decide to jump in lava because there is no challenge at all. It's a creative game, that's it. The gameplay is not deep at all, everything is in block, no resist and stuff like that. And don't forget, Minecraft is 14 years old.... I started playing Minecraft at the beginning (I played until the rain update, 1.11 or something like that) and it was not what is it right now at all.

@@gladteer873 Minecraft devs removed the fun of discovery and mini-game like aspect of crafting tables. It made sense to grab the items. Now it doesn't. They added a crafting book. It became a generic point and craft.

As of September 2024.... The game is great. I just got it and im loving it. I play alot of survival games. Enshrouded, Palworld, Valhiem, Medieval Dynasty, ect... There's base building wich is quite good, fighting, magic, quests, hunting, graphicly beautiful, ambiance, and music reminds me of Skyrim. I have 8 hours in it so far, i have not had any tech problems like, bugs, or crashing. The ui is meh, not the best but it works. 8.5 / 10 for me
I have been intrigued by this concept for a while, and first impressions are that it has a lot of potential. It's pretty solid for an early access title, so I will be interested to see how it improves over the next few months.
this is so spot on. there are things here that if you can just focus on them you will have fun but there are so many other things that make it hard to play or stay with. i fell like it got released cause it was pressured into it. this game was to come out last year and already got pushed back once. i dont think they wanted another 6 month push back. it could hurt them in the long run. i like the lore and at lease its not myth that we have done over and over again but they have alot they need to fix quickly.
Isn't it technically in early access? I feel like that is a big difference. They are claiming the game isn't finished from the start. I can imagine they felt they had things stable enough but miscalculated, so now they know what they need to focus on. I think theyre allowed a little time and leeway.
there are a lot of valid criticisms here, but the complaint about the gate saying "no one said anything", when the paper you pick up right outside the gate that you didn't read through and just quickly set down explicitly tell you that it will look intimidating and you have to just walk through it.
Except if you go there first without the gear level it's gonna drop you the Fuack off.... Then later from nothing you should realize with your gear level 20 you should walk through?
@@AtakenSmith I'm not especially bright when it comes to things like this, but the clue is in the quest ... so obviously your way is barred at the start, so you wonder, don't you? What's all this about then? Then you get the clue in the quest after getting your gear up to scratch, and you get a notification that the quest is complete, and now yu should go to the place of power, which is shown on your Abeyance map. It's pretty obvious, even to me! So I walked into the door. Job done. I really don't think most gamers need that amount of handholding! And, to be fair, Falcon thought dodging was ... well ... dodgy. As in, it didn't work. But he's not doing it right!!! You have to sprint while dodging and it's super-effective!

As someone with both Nightingale and Enshrouded, just get Enshrouded. Enshrouded has a very obvious end of early access point however it already feels like a full game with how it plays. It wouldn't be genre defining but they could have cut the map where it's at currently, added a final boss and ending, and it would have been totally fine for a $30 game. The fact that what is currently offered is only about half or so of the planned content? Well that's icing on the top. Nightingale on the other hand plays and feels early access in every way. It's actually quite bad. There are people over looking the problems but they just really want this game to be good. Unfortunately it's just not at the moment. It does have potential but right now it's mediocre at best and not worth $30. If it was maybe $15 or $20 but right now you're paying $30 for the glory of bug testing for the devs instead of enjoying the current game.
We're enjoying it a lot. You just have to give it a chance and get into the deeper aspects of it. The beginning is daunting, but once you get it going, it's a blast! And they're working on offline play mode now. They really listen to their player base, it seems.
As an Australian the latency issues are a huge issue. The closest server to us is somewhere in South East Asia, and while it's not as bad as connecting to American servers, you still feel it. I'm really liking it, but the latency is working hard to break that. They really need to prioritize the offline mode they said they would implement.
I have had a total different experience. No graphic issues. When I got the gear score the door had an animation of the energy going away. The quest taught you the mechanics of this game. Normally I agree with the before you buy but I feel like this one missed.
Did you see how the game looked for him? xD The lagging of the enemies...? The FPS drop of the game? It's great you had good experience, I had better than him, but man look at the video, there is so much problem showed, no surprise he had some bad thoughts...
Playing for two days already: No issues At All. Not seen any bugs or glitches. Performance is great (solo) on Ultra settings. (RTX 4090). It is also not an online only game, just at this point in EA they have not implemented an offline mode, which is planned.
I had no problems with glitches and connecting so far. I do have settings on performance. They are still working on a lot of issues also on local server/save. So far im having fun playing it.
I was so pumped about Nightingale. I'm glad to see they've released it into early access to get more feedback and I really hope they take the funds from EA and make it the game I want it to be. Fingers crossed I guess.
so me playing this game for 20 hours I can say its definitely alot of fun. As someone who likes the crafting, resource grind, survival games I like it. I haven't experienced any bugs lately with my 20 hrs of playing, The only bug I experienced was when I was cutting down some trees they glitched through the ground but nothing like what gameranx had. I would hold off on it until its more polished, it is fun though. I wouldn't expect much from an early access game to be completely polished and amazing but its definitely what people think and want. In my opinion its a fun survival crafting game like Palworld. It definitely has alot of potential to be great
Hate to say it almost but I have zero issues with game performance. No stuttering, choppiness, glitches etc. Combat feels fine to me. I LOVE this game for the most part. For me the areas they need to work on are QOL for crafting and harvesting and building could be tightened up. I believe this is one of the most exciting ideas to show up in gaming in a very long time.
Isn't it ironic that a lot of the old Bioware crew left because they didn't like the crappy things EA was doing, then one of them goes and releases an online all the time game....
I’ve played 107 minutes so far and I’m really enjoying it. Visually I love it. I’ve never played a survival game before, so it’s something new to me. Only issue I’ve had was within the first realm the grass and dirt textures were bounces left and right. Once I entered the desert realm it stopped. Also had maybe 2 or 3 big fps dips. Went from 104 fps to 75 and then from 106 to 58. At the swamp realm now and all seems good.
What you said in this video is what I suspected from other videos I’ve seen. I’m still looking forward to this game, but it’ll definitely need a lot of work.
I've never heard so much backlash against always online as I have in this title. I don't necessarily like the idea, but it also doesn't stop me from playing because I pay for good internet and if the servers work well enough, I genuinely don't care if it's online even if I'm solo. If it's fun, it's fun. And plenty of games have been online only before this one, but man.. the crybabies really came out the woodworks for this one and are screaming about it relentlessly.

I don't know if this has been brought up about the always online requirement for playing, but this is also a 6 player Co-op game. Not just a single player game. And, as you progress there is an in game item you can hand out to your co-op friends that will allow them to go to your always online realm, and continue to play even if the host is not playing. I lost track of how many times me and my friends would start a co-op or something on 7 days to die, or on Ark (either one), Empyrean, or other survival crafting with joining a hosted game, and then the host stops playing and no one can continue doing anything. Could it benefit from an offline single player mode, sure. But that in itself is not a huge detractor for me to not wanting to play it. I'm having a blast progressing solo, and expanding my base and upgrading my gear and crafting.

Time for a new video, the updates have made it SOOOOOO much better...when you played it it was still Beta 0.1...we're now on 0.3x and the devs have responded to ALL of the major concerns from the community. I'm seriously impressed with this (and the devs of this) game
Maybe im misunderstanding what people mean, but i don’t understand the issue of “always online” because ive almost exclusively played single player and i already got 14 hours in the game. I’ve also had very little experience with bugs, i had one that was fixed in like 2-3 minutes. I feel like I’ve seen a lot of pretty unfair reviews for this game tbh. Also on the point of the currency being difficult to get, the Tier 0 currency is easy. I believe there are 4 tiers? But even Tier 1 currency, the green ones, are much more difficult to acquire.
Well if you don't read the reviews on steam and you only think about your experience, it's obvious you are not gonna understand the problems. - You can't pause the game cause it's online even if you play full solo. - You are complitely dependent on servers and if you live in a place where the closes server is oversea you will have lagg and other server problems even with good internet, just because of the long distance. Which is not happening if you would play offline. - Even if you live close to the server you still can experience problems. Annnnndddd a whole bunch of people have problems. Even if you had good experience, other obviously not, otherwise they wouldn't say it. When BG3 came out, I had multiple bugs in my game, even bugs where my team mates would talk about staff which didn't happen yet... which is a big problem in a story game, spoilers! My friend literally had nothing! His biggest bug was the camera going into wall in some scenario... I had game breaking and immersion, story ruining bugs, he had like nothing. If two person can have this different experience with the same game, imagine it on the scale of thousands. People have problems even if you are lucky and you don't.
i think you need to make a seperate series for early access games. putting it on BYB assumes the game is finished, and puts people off from even checking the games out.
I didn’t catch him bringing up that’s it’s early access and it’s not done. He almost always stresses when they review early access games. Bugs/glitches are 100% going to be there when it’s been out a day.
I feel like everything in this video should be taken with a grain of salt.. it’s still early access so I’d imagine all these issues could get fixed. I’d love an updated BYB later when it’s fully released.
thing is, this game isn't supposed to be sped through, it's supposed to be explored and tinkered with, you don't play minecraft with the sole goal of killing the end dragon in the first day of playing. I life your review but at times it feels as if your intent when playing this game is to just play through it as fast as you can so you can move on.
Well, this was one of my most anticipated games of this year, so hate to see it struggling to get off the ground like this, but I'll give it time and see what it looks like when they're ready to pull it out of Early Access.
So many people so quick to turn away from a game that’s just 26.99 on steam all because of one review. I’ve seen tons of reviews and streams saying so many good things but yet some negative. It did just come out and they will only improve based on some extra support. Being that it’s so damn cheap why not just give it a try and let it ferment a while and see where it takes you. Say no to a fast food meal for a night and the game is yours, money well spent or not it’s not like you’re signing your will away for 26.99 lol.
Falcon, just remember that this game is in Early Access so of course they're gonna work on QoL changes and further polishing as player feedback rolls in. Overall, my experience in the Faewilds has been pretty good so far despite bugs and glitches.
I mean having the early access and seeing it was released Feb 20th and releasing this Feb 21st 😭 there’s still a lot more to add and change on a yet still early access game. Only like a week after? They announced the introduction of offline mode
Would you consider making a new vid on nightingale? The devs have put a ton of work into the game since its launch and most of your qualms have been improved or fixed like an offline mode and you can pull from storage as an example

I had enough fill on survival games lately and same with my mates, we had like a gameplay of around 300-500+ hours on Valheim, 200-300+ on Enshrouded, 150-200+ on Palworld and with this being online only survival think we're sitting this one out. I cannot fathom how a Survival Game being online only, so let me get this straight are the servers dedicated one? or is it a massive one server thing? Specially that I lived in Australia and the server being in the US I can already imagine the lag.
This is leagues better than Valheim. Much better balance, for a start. Not dedicated servers, no. The studio is making an offline mode due to popular request. Should be released soon.
Same here. This game was included in a bundle from an intel processor. You get the game for free with the purchase. I decided to give it a try yesterday and I was surprised how well the game performs besides some animation glitch’s. Overall it has been a great experience so far.
I don’t know which continent you live, but in EU for me the connection sucked big time. So much so I refunded and am just going to wait for the very obvious offline mode that is something already present in a lot of games, especially in the year 2024.
I played for hours on a Wi-Fi network computer and never saw any of the stuttering you had. Everything was smooth and troublefree. Perhaps it was the lag in your connection? I've never been attracted to a survival crafting game but hearing your view of it, you certainly don't like them at all. I think I will continue though.
Falcon complained an awful lot (no surprise) without mentioning the game is in early access until the very, very end. Definitely should have been up front. So keep that in mind.
Nightingale is basically Path of Exile in 1st/3rd person view in an open world. Realm = Map device Biome card = Map Major card = Map's modifier Realmic Transmuter = Atlas' passive tree Puck = Zana(previously) Home base = Hideout Point of interest/puzzle = League's mechanic
There are not a lot of survival games that allow you to craft from your inventory but instead most if not all require you to craft from a bench of a specific kind for specific items. The only things you can craft from your inventory will be things that are the literal bare minimum to survive which is true of all survival games. My biggest complaint with the game is the massive frame drops when things get kind of nutty. Outside of that, I like it and it is fun but I also enjoy Icarus which in my opinion is probably the most hardcore survival game I’ve ever played.
22.02.2024 they made a statement why didn‘t made an offline mode and that they after the feedback will do one 👍🏻 So far the game is good and I had no problems. But they still need a lot of polish. The animations while running with the crossbow are beatifull
The currency is for repairs as well and enchantment. Tier 1 currency is used for everything. Tier 2 up is not as easy to farm. I have an older machine and don’t have this lag. So you cannot buy all the merchants items. You can buy the starting gear but it’s starter gear. It’s actually fairly deep and makes sense but takes awhile. This is the first review where I disagree. What’s odd is my older gtx runs it better than your system. Server lag though is annoying.
Kinda relieved this game needs work because I need a breather. I actually just got some of the forest and I’m hooked. It’s the first survival game I’ve really gotten into
the combat doesnt look bad at all, it actually looks really competent, with different swing animations and monsters haveing multiple attacks, on the combat scale on a scale from elden ring to witcher 1 Id give it a 6 (doesnt help the rest of the games in EA hell rn tho)
Yeah it doesn't look bad but it's not good though. It actually feels worse than combat in Fallout New Vegas. I don't know how but they managed to make the combat feel so dated and clunky. It could be the fact that you have to connect to a server and the constant lag, rubber banding, and hit delay.

I got it and I am enjoying it. I don't mind doors that look like they are going to electrocute you when you are at the proper gear score but doesn't. I think that is different, so I think that's fine. Maybe when the game is finished it will be better off.

@@blank300dayday8 How do you know the fact the electricity never turned off was done on purpose and not an oversight? The fact it’s deliberate doesn’t make it effective or good. Good game design communicates rules, mechanics, boundaries or changes clearly to the player. A consistent visual language or symbology helps players understand what’s going on and orients them within the environment. Some games tell the player a previously locked door is now open by simply opening the door once the requirement is met accompanied by a distinct sound effect. Others might match the door to a corresponding key by it’s location, color, a shape or a description like, “rusty locked door” and “rusty key”. Like I said maybe this particular thing with the electricity is a simple mistake, but if it is an indication of their overall approach I predict that will make for an inconsistent or frustrating experience for many players.
Been playing for about 7 hours so far and I like the game. I've been fortunate enough that I haven't had lag or graphical errors, maybe you're just not setup right or need better specs and up to date drivers? My worst thing is that the framerate will drop from time to time. Combat is honestly like any other survival game, minecraft/enshrouded/forest you really just walk up and smack things. Crafting I'm okay with the depth it contains, honestly it isn't really that complex other games you gotta craft up to higher tier material to make better gear so that's not a big deal for me. Unlike something like Lego Fortnite which was weird grindy at the higher levels and no repair options. The always online thing doesn't bother me, although I live plenty close enough to the servers and want the connection to other players the way they've talked about. I do hope they get what they need though and just improve the mess out of this game. Good to have something to play when I'm sick of waiting to get in HD2 lol
This video pretty well sums up most of the issues here. It's got the bones of something great, but it gets in its own way, needs plenty of refining, and could be much more optimized. Also seems to crash a lot for a lot of people with high-end PCs (beyond the normal 4090+13900k DirectX 12 bug). I was really looking forward to this one, and hopefully after a few months of cooking, it'll be the game it looks like in the trailers. I will say that I'm more inclined to give it a pass because it's in EA - Enshrouded and Palworld were in better shape, sure, but that's in stark contrast to most EA games (wish this were the norm, but let's be honest).
I wish this had been a first person shooter closer to Bioshock instead of a survival crafting game. Great concept for a single player immersive shooter.

You’re actually being incredibly harsh. You said it yourself, this is a new studio. The game is also in early access. You act like this is a full release that you are reviewing. The only reason they are doing this early access is because they wanted an open door to their community to fix things going forward. This is an incredible game with a new idea. It’s very obvious that this game isn’t your cup of tea, so I’m not sure I agree with your review at all. I’m a huge fan of yours specifically on this channel, but I don’t like how you reviewed this one. I would recommend this game to any of my friends. I already have, in fact. I’m in love with the concept, if you have half of a brain then the crafting isn’t hard to grasp at all, all you need is a wired connection and the all online world works seamlessly, the graphics are stunning. You act like this is a AAA game, but it’s not, and this has brought me more fun than the last 10 AAA games I bought for twice the price.
i respect your opinions but somethings i dont agree with. you complained about the game having to be connected to the internet. but that is because they are hosting the servers somthing that alot of survival games are missing so if we are in a world together i dont have to leave when the host gets off, or rent a sever as alot of us have been doing since minecraft. i understand wanting a local server option but the point of games like this are to push survival games being a mmo experience. i dont think its a fault as much as taking survival games in a new direction
usually i agree with youre byb's, this time not so much, i waited 1 day before i bought the game, i had no stutters or lagg whatsoever, only 1 disconnect and that was bcause they rolled out a hotfix, i do agree there is a lot to be done, but for the 27 euro i paid im really enjoying myself
I don't like the fact that it is always online but stories about lag and stuttering and all that shouldn't deter players I think. I've been playing for 15 hours and I've had very little of that, I can promise you that. I've had some frame drops and stuttering, even been disconnected a few times when switching realms/worlds but far from every time and you're not going through portals every 5 minutes in the game exactly. Some janky animations and visual glitches are also there yes but they have never ruined the experience for me, nor for my friend who I just finished a 6 hour session with. We had no connection issues between each other. Biggest issue we had was after I relogged into the game after exiting because I went to eat dinner and I came back and automatically logged into his realm I could not see him on the map nor on the compass at the top of the screen which was a little annoying. The fact that it is always online does suck but shouldn't be a deterrent unless you have really bad internet. UI problems?? I would say don't play with a controller, use mouse & keyboard and it's just like any other game basically. Getting used to the controls and UI takes very little time. What's wrong with combat? Is it basic? Yes. So is Skyrim and Fallout 4. Witcher 3 even has a pretty basic combat style.

I'm loving this game, but I'm also somebody who enjoys making a spreadsheet to track the bonuses from various crafting materials. The one nice thing I'll say about always-online is that you and your friends can share a home realm & work out of the same base without needing to rent a server or play at the same time!

It was initially tagged as a group survival mmo. They told us to build a community. So with that premise the always online is key to the concept. They never once billed this as a solo survival game...... so i doubt it'll ever get an offline mode
the endgame is actually running dungeons with strangers and defeating "world bosses" with friends - so always online is part of the core concept

I love survival games, but our internet could never play an online only game consistently. AND reading through the reviews folks with great internet are already having terrible lag spikes just playing solo, not even with friends. I understand the game is in early access, but not having an offline only version for solo survival fans turns a lot of people away from what looks like a really cool game.

They have every lighting option under one setting... You set it to balance and the game looks ass, you set it to quality. The game looks great, you have SSAO, atmospheric fog, lights oh and F-ing ray tracing which kills your fps... Oh and the game don't have fullscreen just borderless....... Really hard feature to implement I guess xD
@@AtakenSmith Lumen isn't the same as raytracing, it's software based and around 2.5 times faster. That said, they really should not have everything in one option. Perhaps there's a configuration file that lets you set them individually.
been playing for 15 hours with no problems aside from when they did the hotfix last night. no lag, no bugs, just fun. sucks that people are having issues because it's already really fun and i look forward to what they do with it in the future. I like anything to do with the Fae, Exploring has been rewarding. totally agree that the online only thing does suck. I don't find the ui to be that annoying. this is an early access game so these issues can totally be fixed. idk i'[m into it but i can see how it's not for everyone.
I've never played the game and don't generally care for survival games anyway, but I just facepalmed when he started talking about Puck. Like, one, you don't know what Pucks are, and two, that's exactly how they would fuck with you. 😆

I held off, and despite the complaints I bought it anyway. I love the idea of survival games, but I’ve not really found one that’s compelling in terms of environment or aesthetic. I love the setting of this game and I love collecting and crafting. I too can see how it’s not for everyone, especially given the cool strange creatures shown in the trailer, as I’ve only encountered a couple so far, but I am very early in. I’ve also seen some people say it’s not a good looking game and I gotta wonder what settings they’re running on. I have everything on quality or ultra, and damn I was watching a sun set last night and it was one of most beautiful things I’ve seen in any game. I’m looking forward to playing more today.

As someone that doesn't really find much appeal in survival games, this one stood out to me. Love the victorian and fantasy vibes, but the issues do sound quite off putting. If most of them are solved over time i might give it a shot.
I tried it myself and got a refund.
Ignoring all the problems the game itself has, the shit ping, rubber banding, teleporting monsters made me just give up on it.

Though the characters’ faces look like abused boiled potatoes and the very first piece of clothing you are forced to make and equip looks horrendous (immediately replacing the cool clothing you got to choose in the beginning…)
@@GravitasZero its always online because its a survival mmo kind of game. it has dungeons and world bosses etc. so the online aspect is integral to the game. it having issues with online connectivity is most likely a server side issue. its just come out. id expect these problems to get fixed eventually.
like, you can play palworld online as well and at launch, servers were pretty much unusable. same with ark. the servers were trash for ages until they were fixed/upgraded

I think one thing to keep in mind. This is an Early Access release. Apparently, pretty early access. Which is a bummer. I actually enjoy survival games. Minecraft, valhem, no man's sky, and even palworld. I have been waiting for this game for 2 years since announcement. I'm going to wait on it. I held off on enshrouded, for this game. Now... I'm going to just grab Enshrouded.

Thanks for the honest review. I’ve seen a lot of hype for this game but some reviewers either downplay or fail to mention the gameplay issues and overall lag. The game looks completely cool but definitely needs to cook a little more.

I bought this, played around with it for a bit and I have to say I agree with the critique here. I want to love this, but it just needs more time to flesh out the game and fix what doesn't work, gameplay or bugs.
You probably didn't get far enough in, it starts to pick up around 40-50 hours in.
I'm going to say what I said to someone else who reviewed it. It's working fine for me. There's a some bugs and glitches, but nothing game breaking for me. I'm loving the story, mostly. Yeah, it's a bit long-winded but bearable. At least for me, because I enjoy learning lore. I experienced a bit of lag due to the whole always online crap. But it is what it is. I can only hope they change that for solo play, as that's all I play these days. I didn't play any of the tests. All in all, I'm enjoying the game.
One of the reasons I like Minecraft so much is that the crafting is simultaneously deep but simple.
Making an axe, easy.
Making portals, enchanting tables, repairing elytra and making fireworks etc there's so much to it and the Redstone stuff? Wow..
I don't think anyone has beaten Minecraft really, not yet anyway.

I was only playing Hardcore and just decide to jump in lava because there is no challenge at all. It's a creative game, that's it. The gameplay is not deep at all, everything is in block, no resist and stuff like that. And don't forget, Minecraft is 14 years old.... I started playing Minecraft at the beginning (I played until the rain update, 1.11 or something like that) and it was not what is it right now at all.

Minecraft devs removed the fun of discovery and mini-game like aspect of crafting tables. It made sense to grab the items. Now it doesn't. They added a crafting book. It became a generic point and craft.

The game is great.
I just got it and im loving it.
I play alot of survival games.
Enshrouded, Palworld, Valhiem, Medieval Dynasty, ect...
There's base building wich is quite good, fighting, magic, quests, hunting, graphicly beautiful, ambiance, and music reminds me of Skyrim.
I have 8 hours in it so far, i have not had any tech problems like, bugs, or crashing.
The ui is meh, not the best but it works.

Imagine reviewing a game that only just entered early access as though it was a full release game.
I have been intrigued by this concept for a while, and first impressions are that it has a lot of potential. It's pretty solid for an early access title, so I will be interested to see how it improves over the next few months.
this is so spot on. there are things here that if you can just focus on them you will have fun but there are so many other things that make it hard to play or stay with. i fell like it got released cause it was pressured into it. this game was to come out last year and already got pushed back once. i dont think they wanted another 6 month push back. it could hurt them in the long run. i like the lore and at lease its not myth that we have done over and over again but they have alot they need to fix quickly.
Isn't it technically in early access? I feel like that is a big difference. They are claiming the game isn't finished from the start. I can imagine they felt they had things stable enough but miscalculated, so now they know what they need to focus on. I think theyre allowed a little time and leeway.

there are a lot of valid criticisms here, but the complaint about the gate saying "no one said anything", when the paper you pick up right outside the gate that you didn't read through and just quickly set down explicitly tell you that it will look intimidating and you have to just walk through it.
Except if you go there first without the gear level it's gonna drop you the Fuack off.... Then later from nothing you should realize with your gear level 20 you should walk through?
@@AtakenSmith I'm not especially bright when it comes to things like this, but the clue is in the quest ... so obviously your way is barred at the start, so you wonder, don't you? What's all this about then? Then you get the clue in the quest after getting your gear up to scratch, and you get a notification that the quest is complete, and now yu should go to the place of power, which is shown on your Abeyance map. It's pretty obvious, even to me! So I walked into the door. Job done. I really don't think most gamers need that amount of handholding!
And, to be fair, Falcon thought dodging was ... well ... dodgy. As in, it didn't work. But he's not doing it right!!! You have to sprint while dodging and it's super-effective!

As someone with both Nightingale and Enshrouded, just get Enshrouded. Enshrouded has a very obvious end of early access point however it already feels like a full game with how it plays. It wouldn't be genre defining but they could have cut the map where it's at currently, added a final boss and ending, and it would have been totally fine for a $30 game.
The fact that what is currently offered is only about half or so of the planned content? Well that's icing on the top.
Nightingale on the other hand plays and feels early access in every way. It's actually quite bad. There are people over looking the problems but they just really want this game to be good. Unfortunately it's just not at the moment. It does have potential but right now it's mediocre at best and not worth $30. If it was maybe $15 or $20 but right now you're paying $30 for the glory of bug testing for the devs instead of enjoying the current game.

We're enjoying it a lot. You just have to give it a chance and get into the deeper aspects of it. The beginning is daunting, but once you get it going, it's a blast! And they're working on offline play mode now. They really listen to their player base, it seems.

As an Australian the latency issues are a huge issue. The closest server to us is somewhere in South East Asia, and while it's not as bad as connecting to American servers, you still feel it.
I'm really liking it, but the latency is working hard to break that. They really need to prioritize the offline mode they said they would implement.
I have had a total different experience. No graphic issues. When I got the gear score the door had an animation of the energy going away. The quest taught you the mechanics of this game. Normally I agree with the before you buy but I feel like this one missed.
Did you see how the game looked for him? xD The lagging of the enemies...? The FPS drop of the game? It's great you had good experience, I had better than him, but man look at the video, there is so much problem showed, no surprise he had some bad thoughts...
They already confirmed they are working on a offline mode. And will be updating ASAP to have it!!
Playing for two days already: No issues At All. Not seen any bugs or glitches. Performance is great (solo) on Ultra settings. (RTX 4090).
It is also not an online only game, just at this point in EA they have not implemented an offline mode, which is planned.
I had no problems with glitches and connecting so far. I do have settings on performance. They are still working on a lot of issues also on local server/save. So far im having fun playing it.

so me playing this game for 20 hours I can say its definitely alot of fun. As someone who likes the crafting, resource grind, survival games I like it. I haven't experienced any bugs lately with my 20 hrs of playing, The only bug I experienced was when I was cutting down some trees they glitched through the ground but nothing like what gameranx had. I would hold off on it until its more polished, it is fun though. I wouldn't expect much from an early access game to be completely polished and amazing but its definitely what people think and want. In my opinion its a fun survival crafting game like Palworld. It definitely has alot of potential to be great

I’ve played 107 minutes so far and I’m really enjoying it. Visually I love it. I’ve never played a survival game before, so it’s something new to me. Only issue I’ve had was within the first realm the grass and dirt textures were bounces left and right. Once I entered the desert realm it stopped. Also had maybe 2 or 3 big fps dips. Went from 104 fps to 75 and then from 106 to 58. At the swamp realm now and all seems good.

I've never heard so much backlash against always online as I have in this title. I don't necessarily like the idea, but it also doesn't stop me from playing because I pay for good internet and if the servers work well enough, I genuinely don't care if it's online even if I'm solo.
If it's fun, it's fun. And plenty of games have been online only before this one, but man.. the crybabies really came out the woodworks for this one and are screaming about it relentlessly.

I don't know if this has been brought up about the always online requirement for playing, but this is also a 6 player Co-op game. Not just a single player game. And, as you progress there is an in game item you can hand out to your co-op friends that will allow them to go to your always online realm, and continue to play even if the host is not playing. I lost track of how many times me and my friends would start a co-op or something on 7 days to die, or on Ark (either one), Empyrean, or other survival crafting with joining a hosted game, and then the host stops playing and no one can continue doing anything. Could it benefit from an offline single player mode, sure. But that in itself is not a huge detractor for me to not wanting to play it. I'm having a blast progressing solo, and expanding my base and upgrading my gear and crafting.

Time for a new video, the updates have made it SOOOOOO much better...when you played it it was still Beta 0.1...we're now on 0.3x and the devs have responded to ALL of the major concerns from the community. I'm seriously impressed with this (and the devs of this) game
Maybe im misunderstanding what people mean, but i don’t understand the issue of “always online” because ive almost exclusively played single player and i already got 14 hours in the game. I’ve also had very little experience with bugs, i had one that was fixed in like 2-3 minutes. I feel like I’ve seen a lot of pretty unfair reviews for this game tbh. Also on the point of the currency being difficult to get, the Tier 0 currency is easy. I believe there are 4 tiers? But even Tier 1 currency, the green ones, are much more difficult to acquire.
Well if you don't read the reviews on steam and you only think about your experience, it's obvious you are not gonna understand the problems.
- You can't pause the game cause it's online even if you play full solo.
- You are complitely dependent on servers and if you live in a place where the closes server is oversea you will have lagg and other server problems even with good internet, just because of the long distance. Which is not happening if you would play offline.
- Even if you live close to the server you still can experience problems. Annnnndddd a whole bunch of people have problems.
Even if you had good experience, other obviously not, otherwise they wouldn't say it. When BG3 came out, I had multiple bugs in my game, even bugs where my team mates would talk about staff which didn't happen yet... which is a big problem in a story game, spoilers! My friend literally had nothing! His biggest bug was the camera going into wall in some scenario... I had game breaking and immersion, story ruining bugs, he had like nothing. If two person can have this different experience with the same game, imagine it on the scale of thousands. People have problems even if you are lucky and you don't.
i think you need to make a seperate series for early access games. putting it on BYB assumes the game is finished, and puts people off from even checking the games out.
I didn’t catch him bringing up that’s it’s early access and it’s not done. He almost always stresses when they review early access games. Bugs/glitches are 100% going to be there when it’s been out a day.

thing is, this game isn't supposed to be sped through, it's supposed to be explored and tinkered with, you don't play minecraft with the sole goal of killing the end dragon in the first day of playing. I life your review but at times it feels as if your intent when playing this game is to just play through it as fast as you can so you can move on.
Well, this was one of my most anticipated games of this year, so hate to see it struggling to get off the ground like this, but I'll give it time and see what it looks like when they're ready to pull it out of Early Access.
So many people so quick to turn away from a game that’s just 26.99 on steam all because of one review. I’ve seen tons of reviews and streams saying so many good things but yet some negative. It did just come out and they will only improve based on some extra support. Being that it’s so damn cheap why not just give it a try and let it ferment a while and see where it takes you. Say no to a fast food meal for a night and the game is yours, money well spent or not it’s not like you’re signing your will away for 26.99 lol.
Falcon, just remember that this game is in Early Access so of course they're gonna work on QoL changes and further polishing as player feedback rolls in. Overall, my experience in the Faewilds has been pretty good so far despite bugs and glitches.

I had enough fill on survival games lately and same with my mates, we had like a gameplay of around 300-500+ hours on Valheim, 200-300+ on Enshrouded, 150-200+ on Palworld and with this being online only survival think we're sitting this one out.
I cannot fathom how a Survival Game being online only, so let me get this straight are the servers dedicated one? or is it a massive one server thing? Specially that I lived in Australia and the server being in the US I can already imagine the lag.
This is leagues better than Valheim. Much better balance, for a start.
Not dedicated servers, no. The studio is making an offline mode due to popular request. Should be released soon.
(Honorable mention) Multiplayer: This game it better with friend or two.
Played it for 4 hours last night. No stuttering and only one bug. Went into this game and was expecting the worst. Was pleasantly surprised.
Same here. This game was included in a bundle from an intel processor. You get the game for free with the purchase. I decided to give it a try yesterday and I was surprised how well the game performs besides some animation glitch’s. Overall it has been a great experience so far.

I don’t know which continent you live, but in EU for me the connection sucked big time.
So much so I refunded and am just going to wait for the very obvious offline mode that is something already present in a lot of games, especially in the year 2024.

I played for hours on a Wi-Fi network computer and never saw any of the stuttering you had. Everything was smooth and troublefree. Perhaps it was the lag in your connection?
I've never been attracted to a survival crafting game but hearing your view of it, you certainly don't like them at all. I think I will continue though.

Falcon complained an awful lot (no surprise) without mentioning the game is in early access until the very, very end. Definitely should have been up front. So keep that in mind.
the swamp portal bugged out and never formed after the ghoul waves...im forever stranded on tutorial island with no way to reset the quest. GoTY 10/10

I can give you a preview. It's good lol. I bought it at release and have 240 hours in it. I can't stop building villages lol.
There are not a lot of survival games that allow you to craft from your inventory but instead most if not all require you to craft from a bench of a specific kind for specific items. The only things you can craft from your inventory will be things that are the literal bare minimum to survive which is true of all survival games. My biggest complaint with the game is the massive frame drops when things get kind of nutty. Outside of that, I like it and it is fun but I also enjoy Icarus which in my opinion is probably the most hardcore survival game I’ve ever played.
22.02.2024 they made a statement why didn‘t made an offline mode and that they after the feedback will do one 👍🏻
So far the game is good and I had no problems. But they still need a lot of polish. The animations while running with the crossbow are beatifull
The currency is for repairs as well and enchantment. Tier 1 currency is used for everything. Tier 2 up is not as easy to farm. I have an older machine and don’t have this lag. So you cannot buy all the merchants items. You can buy the starting gear but it’s starter gear. It’s actually fairly deep and makes sense but takes awhile. This is the first review where I disagree. What’s odd is my older gtx runs it better than your system. Server lag though is annoying.
Kinda relieved this game needs work because I need a breather. I actually just got some of the forest and I’m hooked. It’s the first survival game I’ve really gotten into

the combat doesnt look bad at all, it actually looks really competent, with different swing animations and monsters haveing multiple attacks, on the combat scale on a scale from elden ring to witcher 1 Id give it a 6 (doesnt help the rest of the games in EA hell rn tho)
Yeah it doesn't look bad but it's not good though. It actually feels worse than combat in Fallout New Vegas. I don't know how but they managed to make the combat feel so dated and clunky. It could be the fact that you have to connect to a server and the constant lag, rubber banding, and hit delay.
@@666Daheretic im not counting the bs with the servers and ea crap (lag, rubber banding and hit delay) as part of the combat as I said the game is in EA hell rn, but take it away and the combat is actually pretty solid, about medium tier, counting the ea and server crap of course its terrible theres a reason I havent bought this yet.
I got it and I am enjoying it. I don't mind doors that look like they are going to electrocute you when you are at the proper gear score but doesn't. I think that is different, so I think that's fine. Maybe when the game is finished it will be better off.
Its certainly not a deal breaker, just makes me wonder if that is an anomaly or the kind of poor game design that will pervade the experience.

Good game design communicates rules, mechanics, boundaries or changes clearly to the player.
A consistent visual language or symbology helps players understand what’s going on and orients them within the environment.
Some games tell the player a previously locked door is now open by simply opening the door once the requirement is met accompanied by a distinct sound effect.
Others might match the door to a corresponding key by it’s location, color, a shape or a description like, “rusty locked door” and “rusty key”.
Like I said maybe this particular thing with the electricity is a simple mistake, but if it is an indication of their overall approach I predict that will make for an inconsistent or frustrating experience for many players.

Been playing for about 7 hours so far and I like the game. I've been fortunate enough that I haven't had lag or graphical errors, maybe you're just not setup right or need better specs and up to date drivers? My worst thing is that the framerate will drop from time to time. Combat is honestly like any other survival game, minecraft/enshrouded/forest you really just walk up and smack things. Crafting I'm okay with the depth it contains, honestly it isn't really that complex other games you gotta craft up to higher tier material to make better gear so that's not a big deal for me. Unlike something like Lego Fortnite which was weird grindy at the higher levels and no repair options. The always online thing doesn't bother me, although I live plenty close enough to the servers and want the connection to other players the way they've talked about. I do hope they get what they need though and just improve the mess out of this game. Good to have something to play when I'm sick of waiting to get in HD2 lol
This video pretty well sums up most of the issues here. It's got the bones of something great, but it gets in its own way, needs plenty of refining, and could be much more optimized. Also seems to crash a lot for a lot of people with high-end PCs (beyond the normal 4090+13900k DirectX 12 bug). I was really looking forward to this one, and hopefully after a few months of cooking, it'll be the game it looks like in the trailers. I will say that I'm more inclined to give it a pass because it's in EA - Enshrouded and Palworld were in better shape, sure, but that's in stark contrast to most EA games (wish this were the norm, but let's be honest).
I'm super surprised you guys did Nightingale instead of Enshrouded.
I wish this had been a first person shooter closer to Bioshock instead of a survival crafting game. Great concept for a single player immersive shooter.
Um, but it's not. It's a survival, crafting game, not a shooter. You should play a different game! It's like some No Man's Sky players saying they want it PVP. No! It's not that sort of game! Go and play a game that IS dedicated PVP!!

You’re actually being incredibly harsh. You said it yourself, this is a new studio. The game is also in early access. You act like this is a full release that you are reviewing. The only reason they are doing this early access is because they wanted an open door to their community to fix things going forward. This is an incredible game with a new idea. It’s very obvious that this game isn’t your cup of tea, so I’m not sure I agree with your review at all. I’m a huge fan of yours specifically on this channel, but I don’t like how you reviewed this one. I would recommend this game to any of my friends. I already have, in fact. I’m in love with the concept, if you have half of a brain then the crafting isn’t hard to grasp at all, all you need is a wired connection and the all online world works seamlessly, the graphics are stunning.
You act like this is a AAA game, but it’s not, and this has brought me more fun than the last 10 AAA games I bought for twice the price.
I was so excited for this game...not so much anymore. I'll probably wait for a patch or two before I hop in.
i respect your opinions but somethings i dont agree with. you complained about the game having to be connected to the internet. but that is because they are hosting the servers somthing that alot of survival games are missing so if we are in a world together i dont have to leave when the host gets off, or rent a sever as alot of us have been doing since minecraft. i understand wanting a local server option but the point of games like this are to push survival games being a mmo experience. i dont think its a fault as much as taking survival games in a new direction

usually i agree with youre byb's, this time not so much, i waited 1 day before i bought the game, i had no stutters or lagg whatsoever, only 1 disconnect and that was bcause they rolled out a hotfix, i do agree there is a lot to be done, but for the 27 euro i paid im really enjoying myself

I don't like the fact that it is always online but stories about lag and stuttering and all that shouldn't deter players I think. I've been playing for 15 hours and I've had very little of that, I can promise you that. I've had some frame drops and stuttering, even been disconnected a few times when switching realms/worlds but far from every time and you're not going through portals every 5 minutes in the game exactly.
Some janky animations and visual glitches are also there yes but they have never ruined the experience for me, nor for my friend who I just finished a 6 hour session with. We had no connection issues between each other. Biggest issue we had was after I relogged into the game after exiting because I went to eat dinner and I came back and automatically logged into his realm I could not see him on the map nor on the compass at the top of the screen which was a little annoying.
The fact that it is always online does suck but shouldn't be a deterrent unless you have really bad internet.
UI problems?? I would say don't play with a controller, use mouse & keyboard and it's just like any other game basically. Getting used to the controls and UI takes very little time.
What's wrong with combat? Is it basic? Yes. So is Skyrim and Fallout 4. Witcher 3 even has a pretty basic combat style.
