    I probably wouldn't buy one but it's a super neat computer. I like that they at least allow for ssd and ram upgrades. The monitor itself looks pretty amazing. If they had wireless charging peripherals that could use the power pad that would be amazing.

    I just typed a great big long comment and then looked up to see nothing. My keyboard was switched off haha.
    Anyway, excellent review thanks Josh, and big congrats on the new house! That's great news. I was very excited when I heard about this particular AIO too. I liked the look of the previous 10th gen RTX 2070 32 inch Envy AIO, but it was a NIGHTMARE to get inside and upgrade, which put me right off, as it only came configured with 512GB SSD & 16GB RAM here in NZ. This is very much better in terms access. While obv not the most high performing machine in the world, it's a LOT better than the previous version and many decently specced out laptops out there (and a billion times better than all other Windows AIOs), and definitely plenty enough for me. Agree with all the cons you mentioned, though none are deal breakers for me. Shame they didn't put a better cooling solution in too, to prevent some of that throttling. And when YOU say it has cracking speakers, I know they actually are good. Thanks again Josh and keep up the good work!

    Great review, and a good reminder that iMacs aren't the only all-in-ones. One question though: what happened to Linux testing? I presume it'd be fine, but some manufacturers pull shenanigans such as using WiFi cards that lack out of the box support.

    • @msp5138
      @msp5138 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is this a joke post. iMacs have 7-8% desktop market share, same market share as MacBooks.

    • @TechTekker

      @@msp5138 I know, but non-Apple standalone PCs are far more common than non-Apple all-in-one PCs. I've seen lots of iMacs, and extremely few all-in-ones from other brands by comparison. Of course, non-Apple PCs are way more common than Macs overall.

    How do games perform and look though in non-native resolution? Really don't need to play in full 5k.

    • @03chrisv
      @03chrisv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Exactly. Doing benchmarks at 5k on a mobile 3080 with only 8GB of ram is pretty pointless, you need a minimum of 10GB of vram to even handle modern games at 4k (let alone 5k), though ideally you want 16GB of vram to completely eliminate stuttering or hitches due to textures loading in and out during gameplay. I'm much more interested in 1080p and 1440p performance as well as upscaled 4k performance using DLSS with 1080p as the internal render resolution. If you're gaming at native 5k on this thing you're doing it wrong considering most gaming laptops with a 3080 still only come with a 1080p or 1440p screen.

    • @03chrisv
      @03chrisv 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Showz333 Performance would basically be identical due to the thermal throttling. The 3080 in this thing performs like 10% to 15% worse than 3080s in gaming laptops due to insufficient cooling so a 3080ti won't do much good unless they give it better cooling.

    I'd be worried about buying this as the HP Envy 32 is having massive issues with units crashing and dying based on reviews on HP's website. The HP Envy 32 has a separate power brick while the 34 has a built-in power supply - that could spell more heat trouble for this unit. Generally, I prefer AIOs with a separate power brick as I've noticed that the ones with a built-in power supply tend to die sooner as it adds extra heat.
    Perhaps HP can do a video of long-term testing and perhaps double the warranty on these units to assuage the consumer fear. Maybe triple or quadruple the warranty :-)
    I'm writing this on a Lenovo A720 that's 10 years old and is still working and really hasn't crashed at all over the past 10 years running a developer virtual machine (another computer running on top of another) on it. The Lenovo deserved a 9 or 10 when I bought it (mostly because the iMac looked a bit better) but having owned it for 10 years, I'll give it a score of 12 out of 10, to be fair to it.
    I'm looking for a replacement, but I don't want to deal with a machine that crashes and dies every day...

    I think my main issue with AiO pcs has always been there lack of future proofing. Not only do you have parts that age fast you also now have to contend with a screen that will also be really oudated in just a few years.

    • @KiLLJoYYouTube

      Again, this is supposed to be a youtube watching pc for rich people and I think thats the audience hp is trying to target. The thermals surprised me and if the excuse of making it thinner was "portability" well 34 inch screens arent portable + making it thicker and adding a real rtx 3080 and real cooling wouldve legit saved the pc and made it a viable option for gamers

      Why you need a touch screen on a 34 inch monitor? The screen is so large you don't need to pinch to zoom. Also, with a screen this big a mouse is much more precise than a finger.

  • @techsamurai11

    Stunning AIO - very high quality review! As good as the product itself. It would be nice to compare it to the HP Envy 32 especially the sound and snap features of Windows 11.
    Totally agree with your advice. Never buy i9s for AIOs or Laptops and the high-end video cards as they are overkill.
    With Cloud Gaming, I almost feel you can easily get away with a 3060 or 1650 which itself is a 3tflop video card. You can also hook up a console if you need to.
    I love that you touched on fan noise as it can be a huge issue with AIOs. It would be great to include measurements for fan noise.

    I just struggle to find anywhere that has visible ventilation. I'm guessing it's on the underside or somewhere else that wasn't captured or I missed it in footage. Looks to me they could add way more efficient airflow to this given the size (all that space on the back gives them a lot of creative freedom depending on how they set up the mainboard) and justify the spec. That's the disappointing part for me. I agree with your other suggestions on getting the modernity of hardware down. This just adds to it IMO.

    Great review! I was hopeful when look at the video thumbnail. But I felt disappointed halfway through the performance part. I'd rather HP make the machine thicker to have better thermals and components or maybe they can make the cooling solutions better (wider, larger, more fans, etc). If you look at the desktop from front, does it really matter if the back is thicker? Or do you care if it's heavier because of beefier cooling? 65W for a desktop CPU and 90W for a GPU are not great.

    Also, could you please review performance on engineering applications for your (potential) review of the new MacBook Pro models? Maybe some use cases with benchmarks for SolidWorks, Ansys, etc. Cheers!

    This reminds me of its predecessor from 2017, except it had a curved monitor instead, do you know if they are going to release again the all in one with curved monitor some time soon?

    Greetings! Thanks for your awesome detailed reviews. I am interested in this all-in-one desktop but you mentioned some items to not get in upgrade. My purpose for using the computer is solely for work and personal, no gaming. I want mainly touchscreen, 4k, and large capacity SSD. So do you recommend this one or the maybe perhaps a lesser screen size?

    Nice review, but I'll never understand all in ones. All the drawbacks of a laptop without any of the portability. I feel a clean Itx build is better for almost everyone instead of an all in one that you can't upgrade or replace parts for when it breaks.

    I have been an iMac user, and looking to switch back to windows. How does it work with games like the Sims, civilization, and cities: skylines. I'm not a heavy gamer.

      Should be fine. Even though the CPU and GPU throttle a little too much compared to gaming laptops with the same hardware you're still getting around PS5 levels of performance and graphical prowess with this HP which is nothing to scoff at. Just run your games at 1080p or 1440p and use DLSS to upscale to 4k and games will run and look great.

    was SO excited, but the thermals just ruined it. really wish they could of improved the thermals even slightly in it. a bigger fan in the back, replacing the back pannel with a mesh to make it more breathable, literally ANYTHING.

    Ok, the design, the wireless charger and the ports in the stand (and the easily upgradable components) are awesome, however, the performance completely ruined the package, they could've make it a little thicker to better cool the processor or at least an H or T series processor that is better suited to 65W of power limit.
