    Congrats on another master angler catch, Ethan.
    Also couldn’t agree more about the little details, when your talking about that type of money on a rod. Last thing I want is a rod that doesn’t feel good in hand at that price.
    Thanks to the Mrs, for letting you get out and fish.

    Thank you Jocelyn for pushing Ethan out the door to go fishing! We really enjoy his videos! As to the rod comparison of this one and the Dobyns YES I would like to see that. TFO trout and Pan fish rod is more my style but this sounds great! I like to run braid with a leader. Thanks for all the great content! ✌

      St Croix Panfish Series is a darn good rod. I find they are a bit tip-heavy for my personal preferences but that isn't a huge deal. If you find it is tip heavy, just add a little weight to the rod butt and it will balance better. Fantastic blank though :)

  • @BrianKuhl
    @BrianKuhl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks Jocelyn and sorry if I spelt that wrong. Thanks for bringing up the braided line bit; I am considering getting my wife a Dobyns UL but am probably putting braid on it since it won’t get much use, so perhaps a TFO would be better?

    • @FishAnything
      @FishAnything  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think the TFO with braid is a fantastic setup. Don't get me wrong, I think the Dobyns is a dope rod (I like it better than the TFO) but I would just be a bit careful with braid on it because of that solid tip. I broke one due to the line wrapping the tip and me setting the hook. I got it replaced but it cost me $80. I will probably run braid on it again someday because it feels beautiful with it, but it is a bit sketchy.

    • @BrianKuhl
      @BrianKuhl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@FishAnything I’ll probably keep the Dobyns on the list of things to get myself, but I’ll need to seriously consider line as I almost exclusively fish a jig on UL, and I create too much slack when moving a jig or T-rig from time to time and end up wrapping the tips of other rods I already own. Perhaps a chicken and egg situation as the lack of stretch in braid may be contributing to the extra slack 🤷🏻‍♂️.

    What's the max strength of line you'll use on an ultralight? I like seeing you fish lakes because it gives me confidence in using light lures in deep water, whereas I primarily use the light lures in shallow moving water. Use ultralights like the Daiwa Presso to throw small inline spinners on the river or creeks.

      Honestly for panfish, I have less of a system than bass. I typically just go with my gut and experiment a bit until I find something I like best. Dirtier water, I always use a brighter jighead and try to create more contrast.

    how's this unit compare to the presso? worth the extra to you?

    • @FishAnything
      @FishAnything  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are very different rods. This is far superior in my opinion, however it is much much faster so it kind of depends on what you plan to fish with it.

      @@FishAnything thanks for the feed back.
      just wondering: do you have any experience with the BnM TCB (Trout Crappie Bluegill) rod? It's a 6'6'' fast action rod. Wondering if you know how it stacks up to the Kage. Cheers, sir!

    Do you recommend a fiberglass rod for UL?

      @@FishAnything I also prefer the stouter carbon rod, even with the lower diameter.

      They sure are. America needs to adopt more of this stuff in our domestically offered products.

    Do you think your 6lb braid to 4lb fluoro setups or 2lb mono setups cast further? Please restock mule jigs and donkey tail jrs! New to the channel and would love to sub them out for my trout magnets

    • @FishAnything
      @FishAnything  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The donkey tail jr’s are back! And I’m working on the jigs. I think 6lb braid and 2lb mono are relatively comparable. I think the mono gets me a bit more distance on super light stuff but they’re equal on anything 1/32oz and up.
