    I was refreshing your videos page in anticipation for this one ever since you’ve posted your teaser as my little girl is at the same “just about to walk” stage and I would really want to make her a pair of little shoes to take her first steps in! I even got a little owl stamp to put on top of each just for that purpose, she loves owls.
    So yeah, sorry to all the other “serious” leatherwork currently on the bench - baby shoes take priority.
    Thank you for all the tips!

      This makes my day!! Thank you for letting me know, Krystian! If you’re on Instagram, please send me a pic of her shoes when you make them! Have fun! -Tanner

      Ha ha- we can’t all be lucky enough to measure in fractions of inches and feet and yards... 😂

    Doing a pair now for a grandson, thanks for the video. I've done what you did before. I had to buy a new bell crank motion feed for my adler patcher because it broke in the middle of making one of my grand daughters mocs. I'm up and running again and now my new grandson will get a pair of home mades. This time I'm going all out for a derby. LOL

  • @minerva5025

    Tanner is there another way to skive leather without a machine?

    • @ClaridgeLeather
      @ClaridgeLeather  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, lots of ways- some people use a skiving knife (there are quite a few variations of these), and the knife must be extremely sharp. This is a tedious but rewarding (and usually nerve-wracking) process. I often use a French Skiver from Palosanto. It is a hand tool that kind of scoops away a path of leather the width of the blade. Kind of like mowing the lawn! This is my go-to method when not using a machine.

    It impressive my stepfamily had a hope chest for all of that to be put in for me my stepparent was my great-great-grandparent i was told it was her 15 generation sea chest did find markings dated back to the 1790s who it was all it came up was lost at sea the first line had maps of the Netherland's glues on it was well beaten up from, water was and another liner was put over that was cloth to did protect the first one to need to have repairs done to it did all the repair to and did put the second liner back over the first one and had an other line put over that one to protecting the history of this sea chest

      Done, Shane! They would definitely need some sort of leather care product if you were to use them longer term. Not sure if you have any ideas there... 🤔😅
