  • @robertstorms5539
    @robertstorms5539 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    John, question. On the Dark Matter John Skinner Jig and Bounce Casting Rod do you hold it with one finger in front of the reel or two? I've seen other video's where people have commented that you are losing leverage if you only have one finger in front of the reel.

    I’ve been fishing near point look out on Long Island for fluke and have been having trouble choosing the right weight for my bucktail rig. The area i focus on is near there inlet and probably ranges between 15-30 ft of water. I tried with a 1.5 oz and thought it might be too light so switched to a 2oz but now I’m thinking it’s too heavy. My goal is to try to have the line stay somewhat straight up and down but if always seems to angle out, maybe I’m just not realizing when the 1.5oz hits bottom and I’m letting out extra line?

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Better too heavy than too light. There's not much difference between 1.5 and 2 ounces. Watch the line carefully as the jig sinks to determine when it hits the bottom.

    Love the 3rd person angles! It allowed me to notice for the first time that, when you're hooked into a fluke, you tuck the butt under your right arm. I've never thought about holding the rod cross-body like that. Is that by preference or is there an advantage to holding it that way?
