Jetting, reeds or power valve is not right. It isn't building power like it should. I have been riding for a long time and the last year rm's hit extremely hard. Alot of woods riders put a flywheel weight in to slow the crank and calm it down. Love 2 strokes. You guys would love a kx or cr500.
Move your needle clip down one slot, raising the needle. Sounds lean/starved in the mid range. Also no back fires, so you are close. I'd move the clip and do a plug chop there, adjust accordingly. Nice Rm.
Definitely needs tuned. Doesn't sound near as crisp as a 250 should. My 02 cr250 will lift the front effortlessly in 4'th, a slight tug in 5'th and it carries the front without an issue.
It's running too rich on the carburetor needle and pilot jet. Or air screw is way off for the pilot jet, And it's probably too lean on the main jet. Ignition timing might need to be advanced 2-3 degrees too?
No it’s not breathing, the guy before probably has re jetted the bike to suit the opened up air box, now that you have closed those holes up, fine tune your jetting to suit that, get some VForce feeds on they’re after that or Boyesen, but sort your jetting out for your airbox mod u did.

jacob andres I like them both but mainly 4 strokes. I wouldn't buy a 2 stroke new just used cuz they drop in value fast or can get one needing work cheap and they're easy to fix. 4 strokes have the best reliability

Hi, I have a problem. I own a two stroke 50cc Gilera runner 50sp from 2002-2004. It hasn't been started for 10 years, but me and a guy managed to fix it up so it's up and running perfectly. The only problem I have is that every time I start it, it goes up in revs like crazy as if I held full gas, and after maybe 15-20 seconds it goes back to completely normal. This doesn't happen if I start it like 5 min after I have driven it. Can it be something with the temperature and is this normal for a two stroke?
jojjo132_PVP mine did that too. Try to look if all the cables are in place. At mine the oil cable was out and that caused the problem. (Mine is from 1995). Good luck

Stunt Freaks Team Damn you responded fast, I'm just saying you just rebuilt the bike, was the piston even broken in? Did you also let the bike warm up? Since it is basically a brand new watercooled two stroke, they need time to warm up. It looks like in the video you just unloaded the bike, kicked it over and just started ripping it with letting it warm up.

Bst Carb ever is Lectron for these old 2 strokes ! Had one on my 06 and perfect air/gas ratio ! No more carb tunings !
could be the power valve/ exhaust valve or a jetting issue try lower the needle 1 or 2 clips

It has high idle thing to warm up the engine quick. It really should be that high, but its a feature. Just dont mind it and keep riding!
