I lived in Ohio at the time and My main memory is the TV commercial with all the other Saturday morning commercials about toys for kids. The gyrobot jingle. I can't find it
My favourite childhood toy growing up in South Africa! I still have it 30+ years later! Purple and white, otherwise looks exactly the same. And still works perfectly.
This toy was crazy popular in South Africa. Everyone had one, except me! The Tomy Pop Cycles also seems to have been less popular overseas. I can't find any references to the Gyrobot or Pop cycle in Japan which is weird. Maybe it wasn't even sold in Japan.
Yeah ... I remember buying quite a few of those guy’s at an A&P that was located down on Dixie Highway in Clarkston when I was a kid ... There is A Big Lots there now, so ... Nothing there but just The Memories now I guess.
Major nostalgia....it was great being an eighties kid

I've battled to find references of it anywhere, I'm also South African. Thanks for capturing it for digital posterity!

Haha I was also looking up this toy because I had one in the early 2000s in South Africa.
These things were brilliant, you could make them do so many tricks!
Very cool blast from the past. I couldn't find anything about these on TH-cam
Yeah, I was surprised that there's zero content about them!
My brother and I had a couple of these in the U.S. but I think they probably were purchased in Mexico.
Thanks for posting
I have a brazilian version of this toy and could not find information about it, until now. Thank you very much.
I've been looking for name of this toy forever. Remember you could have them on feet side or head. Had a blue and red one.

I’ve just found mine! In perfect condition
If I remember correctly they could also stand on their hands.
As far as i can tell, they can spin on their heads, move around on their feet, or 'drive' on their stomachs...
😅I had those and the pop cycles CPT
So remember those.
