Brutality and weird form ≠ not intelligent. You can truly never know what they would look like, how advanced they would be, and how brutal they are. I get that they seem like stupid creatures whose only instinct is to kill, but you just never know because we’ve never seen them nor do we truly know if they exist.

The arrival is one of the most brilliant Sci fi movies ever to be filmed so far. It shows the real difference between a really advanced civilization and one that simply grasps physics. Their language is a reflection of how they think in a non linear way in literally all aspects of existence and simultaneously the most powerful weapon they have since it evolved their thinking as they where evolving it. The movie moves beyond a simple they tried to invade but we killed them with our spitstraws mentality and creates a fantastic mirror for us to consider how primitive we still are in the evolutionary scale. For me it should be in the top 3.

Honorable mention: Life Force. This movie has everything. A giant alien spaceship, smoking hot alien queen, body possession, mass mayhem riots, exploding zombies and Patrick Stewart.

The detail and story in Arrival, to develop another language, as complex as it was.. the story line.. Just amazing, I have watched this move so many times.. I have it in 3 DVD versions..
The aliens in Battleship is designed to be beaten by the US navy is quite hilarious, it's like Battle of LA where they are designed to be taken down by typical US marine. Hell, Battleship aliens actively avoid harming humans and only go after weapons. How are they even considered a threat is beyond me.

I read (and don't often do) an awesome book back in the 90s' I haven't heard spoken of by anyone. It was called The Kraken Awakes, about an Alien invasion and I have always expected some studio to pick up the story because it was great and I am sure would make a decent film or series. Kinda like a mix of The Abyss and War Of The Worlds.
All the skyline movies are the best, I remember watching the first one when I was young and couldn't remember what it was until I stumbled upon it a decade later

The arrival is one of the most brilliant Sci fi movies ever to be filmed so far. It shows the real difference between a really advanced civilization and one that simply grasps physics. Their language is a reflection of how they think in a non linear way in literally all aspects of existence and simultaneously the most powerful weapon they have since it evolved their thinking as they where evolving it. The movie moves beyond a simple they tried to invade but we killed them with our spitstraws mentality and creates a fantastic mirror for us to consider how primitive we still are in the evolutionary scale. For me it should be in the top 3.

I read (and don't often do) an awesome book back in the 90s' I haven't heard spoken of by anyone. It was called The Kraken Awakes, about an Alien invasion and I have always expected some studio to pick up the story because it was great and I am sure would make a decent film or series. Kinda like a mix of The Abyss and War Of The Worlds.
They Live, Mars Attacks, and War of the Worlds are my favorite alien invasion novies!

Arrival wouldn't make my top 100. Think about it. Aliens from far in the future come back to our time and ask us to fix their problems. That would be like us in our time going back to the caveman time and asking them to fix our problems.
