I, too, am battling mealybugs, but your Hindu rope looks like it would be almost impossible to control them with all the twists and turns the leaves make. Have you ever tried a systemic insecticide? I've had such an infestation of white flies, scale, mealybugs, thrips, and spider mites this year that I decided to use it. So far, it seems to be working, in addition to spraying with Captain Jack's Dead Bug and an alcohol/soap/water mixture (SIGH!). I've never had any problems in the past except for scale on a cat palm, but this year has been horrible.

Haven’t trying systemic yet, and the pest pressure have been worse this year for me as well!
