- Here is an explanation of what we do with the data that we get from a 3D scan. This video covers the accuracy of the scan, the points in a point cloud, and a brief explanation of a Building Information Model.
Can you show a part two of this project and show how stairwells are drawn in Revit from point clouds? Also how is a floor depth handled between floors? Actually a project showing a model with multiple floors and how it all interplay’s would be really appreciated! Thanks
Great video ! Is there a way of geolocating the matterport pointcloud / bringing it into revit ‘by shared coordinates’ ?
Matterport doesn’t provide any geolocation data. I’ve looked into this with other point clouds created from other scanning cameras. Even with other cameras I haven’t found a good way to do this.
How did you take the matterport model into revit? Also, do you still like matterport? One thing I am concerned about is maintaining client privacy concerning any interior photography.
I take the .xyz file you get from the Matterpak into Autodesk Recap. Recap converts the file into a .rcp file, which Revit recognizes. I still use Matterport. I keep most of my tours private since most of them are used for creating a point cloud to be used for the purpose in this video. The only time I make them public are for commercial clients who want a completed project tour to use for marketing.
great job,how i can download this project rcp?
How did you scan? What kind of scanner? I am new this topic.
johnvs nagendra the home was scanned with a Matterport Pro2 scanner. You can find videos of how to scan with that camera on Matterport’s channel here or their website.
How can i take this type of work for making a model can you give your contact information
The video briefly explains it. Please fill out the contact form on my website for any specific requests: www.dauntlessdc.com/contact
Can we get the point cloud scan data?, a link atleast please.
Sorry, the scan is of someone's home. Here's a Matterport link of sample files they provide on their website: support.matterport.com/hc/en-us/articles/115013869728-Download-the-MatterPak-Bundle#further-info-0-3
