"CHANGING" is the wrong word. The product is already there.
It is a good product based on the technical aspects for a way too low price with a privacy and data protection nightmare attached to it on the way to a monopol like place in the VR space.
The moment you buy it, you give Meta a live feed of your living room, biometric data like high res hand images with depth cams (possible like this are finger prints too - so if you thought your smartphone is save because you have face scans or finger prints on it to protect it... think again. A pin would be much saver in that scenario), maybe eye scans, movement data, your credit card, your telefon number, possible vene scans and so on to get back on their investment of more or less gifting you the headset (because they would have to cost round about double or more of the price if that would not be the case)

Thank you for your comment! You're absolutely right that the Meta Quest 3 offers impressive features, such as a high-quality VR experience at an affordable price. However, it does come with trade-offs, especially regarding privacy, as the data collection involved is extensive, and it is important to consider the implications.
When it comes to the biometric data and potential privacy issues, it’s understandable to be cautious. The inclusion of high-res cameras, motion tracking, and other sensors could raise concerns about data protection. It's always a good idea for consumers to stay informed about how their data is being used and to weigh the benefits against potential risks.
As for the price, it’s true that the Quest 3 is priced lower than expected for the technology it offers, but as you pointed out, the cost is offset by the data collection practices that Meta employs to help recoup its investment.
Ultimately, it’s up to each individual to decide whether the trade-off between the value of the product and privacy concerns is acceptable. We encourage a deeper conversation about privacy and the role of data in the tech industry, as these issues are becoming increasingly important for consumers.
