That was a really fun tasting, even with the footy finale, LoL! I still have several of the samples left. My wife was not as enthusiastic about the funk. She said she could still smell it the next day:-)>

We get fresh grown local blueberries around where I live so I'm the opposite of you guys. I want to know what "fake blueberry" tastes like. :)
What did you tell them at customs?? I declare I'm a moonshiner with product to share.. Or was there a prison wallet involved?? Lol
Freezing the blueberries makes them taste much more blueberry-ish. Just a thought.

I don't know about the food pairings, but the pairing of Bearded and Jessie is pretty much the best thing ever!

You got that blueberry taste backwards mate. That cheap processed stuff doesn't taste at all like actual blueberries. It's almost as big of a difference as with banana flavoring.

I need to ask you a question: do you think grappa present a "funky" smell? I'm italian and I really can't understand what you guys are meaning when you use "funk/funky"
Btw, I notice no one used the word "pomace".. and it is the word for the leftover of grapes by wine making.
And yes, grappa (like pisco, i think, but i don't know much about it) is make distilling pomace.
Hi mate, to be honest I have only ever had one Grappa. I still have some of it, I love it so much I do not want to drink it all.
You are right. We did not do a good job of describing that did we. The grappa I have presents like overly ripe almost rotten tropical fruit. It has a musty quality. Dont take that the wrong way, I think its amazing. But it is a flavor that is very close to something that is disgusting still. Similar to many cheeses (not in the actual flavor, but that the flavor is so amazing because its almost disgusting)

I've only ever had 1 shot of grappa and barely remember it, but I've been slowly sipping on a bottle of pisco for years, so I'm much more familiar with it. Pisco isn't funky like feet, but it can have some of the unexpected green flavors of the pomace. I think that's what I was failing to say.
They mean crapy tail ends type of bad smell aka funky.

Thanks for your time hanging out with brewing and distilling hobby folks, goofing off, and geeking out about some booze. The best part about this community is all the fun; like a nearly illegal amount of joy. This is the first time in years that I have giggled like a school girl watching a video.
