    Thank you very much for this video, which is very detailed in helping others, like me, to perform a test on fuses. Gaining knowledge of car electrical function is significant. Please have a great day. Appreciated.

    good advice!! you're the first one I've seen mention the important part where you have to make sure if the fuse is supposed to be hot all the time or not

      Or you can move the test light clip from the negative to the positive to check if the both sides have ground running them when its not “hot” . Only if you have the multiuse test light

    • @mobmob5944
      @mobmob5944 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you attack the test light clip to the negative and that light turns on when you check a fuse it’s because the surface you are touching with the test light has 12volts . And if you change your test light clip to the + on your battery now you can test the ground continuity in your fuses or wires . The light will turn on in your test light because it now has ground (if you are touching it with your testlight)

    I have several fuses that don't work when being tested in the slots, however fuses aren't blown. I move those fuses to other locations and they do work, just not in the slots where they belong. When pulled out and inspected, the two silver prongs look burnt. What does this mean? I have a total of eight fuses that do not work and are burnt from pins but still function in other slots. Has anyone seen this before?

    I was wondering something
    I've been looking everywhere to find this answer. The cigarette fuse on my 2008 f250 super duty has a light purple colour on the top where it should be clear. It's a typical blue 20 amp fuse, but it's discoloured to that purple and looks kind of weird inside. It works though. Do you know why that would be purple and should I just simply replace it?

    I'm thinking my 10A fuse is blown because I have a lot of things that are wrong with my vehicle that the 10A works for but mainly my dashboard my sunroof ignition switch has been acting wonky and my turn signal light I haven't checked the actual fuse yet I'm waiting till tomorrow but I'm guessing that's what the problem is I'm going to visually check it but it's good to know that there are two other tools that I could buy that would help me in the future I'm going to check all of my fuses and make sure they're all good I have a two fuse boxes I don't know if all vehicles do but I do one under the steering wheel and one in the hood of the car so it feels good to kind of know what's wrong with my vehicle

    I have an amber Bussmann fuse (40) from my solar array charge controller that has one black blade. Can I safely assume (60%?) that it's burned out (it's been running for 6 years)? I'm praying that this is all the charge controller needs, since I just blew a wad (no pun intended) on 8 new marine batteries for the system. Please, God, spare an old broad. ;) Thank you, Juli B.

    Is there a downside to simply replacing all fuses on a regular maintenance schedule, say every 5 years?

    • @BarboursAutoHelp
      @BarboursAutoHelp  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I don't think fuses go bad like engine oil or transmission fluid, etc. Usually if a fuse blows it is because of excessive current draw. I think it would be a waste of time and money.
