Those who voted for the PRIAN in the recent presidential elections in Mexico can be divided into two main groups: the privileged, who seek to maintain their benefits, and the misinformed, who support a social class to which they do not belong.
They are not misinformed. Just as you said, they want to identify with a social class. It is really weird. One of my wife's cousins once asked us who we were voiting for and when we told her AMLO she said "jodidos" (peasants). The funny thing is that we make a lot more money than her.
That's a bold claim.
This video says Claudia comes from a working class background and that's simply a lie. That's the problem with populist movements, they can brainwash you into thinking they are different than the past elite governments, but after 6 years with AMLO no big developments have been made in terms of wealth distribution, which was the whole point to begin with. Poverty and crime rates are on a rise, and cartels' power is increasing. Let's say for instance that someone who is privileged votes for MORENA, would you call that person misinformed and supporting a social class they don't belong in? That's absurd. Neither MORENA nor PRIAN represent a social class. That whole narrative that MORENA represents the lower class is just a political slogan and nothing more. Both MORENA and PRIAN have the same class of elitist and parasite politicians.
I am not a complete pesimist though, I hope this new president can deliver the promises that AMLO has failed to accomplish, as It is evident that she's way more qualified to be a leader. MORENA has another chance to prove they can help the lower class, so will they finally strip the power from the elites or will they continue to follow the same old politics? We'll see.

Her parents were active participants of the 1968 student movement when she was 6 years old. Thanks Ben, what a great program to show what is really happening in Mexico, I am a Chilena who lived for 50 years in the US and know I have discovered what a wonderful place to live is Mexico, its people and culture, we have so much to learn.

Smart move by the Mexican people choosing the right candidate and right party because the previous president did good job by uplifting poverty and increased wages it better to choose from the same party.
Well, most people think like that but in Mexico there is now experience in following parties blindly. Mexican people now seek to choose the right individual for the right job. The reason for the massive victory for the Morena party was to achieve a majority in the congress to allow the president access to a massive budget that can only be touched by a majority rule party. AMLO has proven to be wise in the use of the people's money be it for developing much needed infrastructure or investing in the populace-social help programs.
Also because there was an overruling from the Supreme Court since the magister was releasing high profile criminal despite the army capturing and arresting drug lords. By current law the magister couldn't be removed peacefully so in order to change the constitution to allow for a more balanced Judicial power in Mexican society a congress majority was needed.
In summary, we don't believe in parties anymore but individuals, and the majority was needed to fix the country without inciting a second civil war. Mexico has sworn a solemn oath to avoid bloodshed after its revolution.

I hope the US takes notes. This is what a left wing party/coalition looks like. Here in the US there's a center/center-right party and a right wing party. Those who go on about "the left wing media" and whatnot are obviously not paying attention to how democrats vote on induvidual issues.
This is a VERY interesting analysis, but I have doubts about the objectivity of it. Here are a couple of questions:
1) First of all, I wonder why do you have propaganda of Clara Brugada (Morena's Candidate for Mexico City) in the background?
2) When you don't have an opposition, it is officially a dictatorship as the PRI had for over 70 years, what makes Morena any different from the PRI? When even AMLO was part of that PRI.
3) I am self-employed and pay aprox. 36% of income taxes. We have had SEVERE problems with the electrical grid and supply since Morena is in power, severe water issues in our house in Jalisco and in Mexico City where my brother lives (and Claudia Sheinbaum was still in power there). Our taxes are not reflected in basic services (electricity depends on the Federal Government). But we can see how many students from Jovenes Construyendo el Futuro (one of the social programs they promote), not showing up for work and spending the money on traveling.
2) I have worked with Taiwanese and Japanese foreign investment companies and 2 of the Japanese have left the country in a sort of anti-nearshoring because of the lack of respect for the law by the Government, loosing over 5,000 jobs. What will they do to retain these investments and jobs?
4) You talk about institutions and their respect to them. Morena has proposed changing the basis of the same institution that helped them win this and the past election (INE). How can you trust their intention of preserving a real democracy. It seems hypocritical.
These and many other issues are what makes the international markets and companies question the political and economic environment for foreign investment.
Dr, Claudia have a PhD in física and she actually work at the UN in a group of scientists who won a noble prize for their contribution to combat climate change. Plus Dr. Claudia was the governor of CDMX. & AMLO with Dr. Claudia Sheinbaun are the ones who started Morena movement and then they got it registered as a political party.
