    i was very excited to go to malaysia for the Nomad capitalist live event but I feel as though the way the tickets rolled out was done improperly. Waited and waited for more info on the event to be released (vip tickets etc) to see if i should book my own stay and come to find out they drop out of no where and had been price hiked

    • @nomadcapitalist
      @nomadcapitalist  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      We’re sorry to hear that. Main tickets had the same price for the entire 14 days before they sold out; there were no price hikes. We offered a small discount to very early birds on +1 tickets for the first two days but otherwise those were the same price as well. As to disseminating information, a number of people on the email waiting list told us we sent too many emails. Hopefully you can join us sometime soon.

My real estate is held in Mexico and is paid off already. I have virtually no assets in USA. So, in my case, the US Dollar is NOT much of a factor. However, for Americans who are earning in US Dollars and earn from US economy, Mexico is less attractive than it was just 2 years ago. At this point, Mexico is a still fantastic for them. But that door may shut in the future. Keep an eye on the US and see how it fares.

    I've just arrived in Merida, Mexico.
    I'll sum up my experience: I departed ATL on a Delta/AeroMexico flight from the "busiest" Airport in world and arrived in MID, which has to be one of the least busiest airports in North America. Ours was the ONLY aircraft on the airports ONLY runway.
    Don't misunderstand; MID is as modern and nice as any airport in North America.

    I recently obtained permanent residency and am thinking about going for citizenship eventually just incase something happens in the future that would make me want to give up my US citizenship. As a general rule living is a lot more laid back there. Family is extremely important and everything about family is celebrated - I think this makes for a much happier society. There is that support system that comes with being a member of your clan that results in a stronger and healthier community. Religion being strong part of society in Mexico adds to this phenonemon as well. The US is very socially conflicted right now and is floundering dangerously. As well, even though the dollar has weakened against the peso, with some common sense you can live a pretty darn high quality of life if you have some money going into it. You can spend a little or a lot, like anywhere.

    I agree the future of Mexico looks like it could be very good. The work ethic in the US seems to have collapsed, no one seems to want to work anymore. I have been working for four decades in the US, and I have never seen a work ethic like today, many people don't even come in to the office. Mexico is still full of hard workers, eager to work and they are set up to replace China as the US trading partner. Its not so much that they are doing anything new, its just that they are positioned perfectly to inherit the industries that the US has lost.

    I have alot of experience with Mexico. Spent alot of time there. Real Mexico, not resorts and tourist spots. I recommend not listening to rich gringos who live/visit upscale neighborhoods/resorts and say things are great. Safety for regular people in Mexico is a real concern, far more than in the US. Note that, statistics are useless, Mexico doesnt report crime as diligently as US authorities and most crime goes un reported. Cartel activity is getting worse, for instance, Baja for decades has been relatively quiet, now its a hot bed. The woke nonsense has already infiltrated the schools (in part thanks to Sheinbaum, who likely will be the next President). Work ethic has already started to slip. Inflation is a big problem, just like in the US. Housing is a growing problem as well, real estate is overly inflated, young locals cant afford to buy. Politics are worse than the US, both federal level down to municipal. For example, last week most major cities in north Baja were on lock down. No one was allowed to enter or leave, not even goods, food, fuel deliveries. Why? Land disputes between state and municipalities. In the past, gringos were generally left alone. But recently, thats changing. The new generation of criminals are more desperate. And there is the problem of water. Mexico doesnt invest in water treatment and reclamation. Google Mexico’s water crisis. Mexico does have potential, but there are big problems that need to be tackled. If, a big if, Mexico decides to make a change, it will be slow.

    Mexico is experiencing a severe drought crisis. Two weeks ago about a 3rd of the country lost electricity for a few hours. Mexico is also in a fight over water rights with Texas. Texas is claiming that Mexico has not lived up to its water duties under the 1948 water treaty between the US and Mexico. The fact is that Mexico does not have any water to relinquish to Texas. I know this first hand because I am an expat living in Mexico. Unless Mexico modernizes its electrical grid and starts to use water more efficiently and starts to invest in desalination plants, manufacturing will move out of the country leaving masses unemployed. Now we have Trump saying that if he wins he is going to send in the US army to go after the cartels. That scenario would destabilize Mexico and cause even more mas illegal immigration. I am not advocating for staying in the US, on the contrary, I am advocating for moving even farther away from the US where the US doesn't have many interests. Chile and Uruguay are looking promising.

    • @leemartinez2975
      @leemartinez2975 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@voice.of.reason That would destabilize the country, think Afghanistan and Iraq. Thousands of civilians would be killed including many US and Canadian expats. The reason is because cartels operate among the general population. The only way to remove the cartels and protect civil order is to approach the cartels as organized crime not as a foreign army. Trump is advocating taking out the cartels the way the US combated the terrorists in Afghanistan and Iraq, that implies drone strikes and urban warfare. A destabilized Mexico would lead to more mass illegal immigration which the US does not want. It would also negatively affect the US economy because the two countries' economies are very intricately linked. There could also possibly be mass racial backlashes against Hispanic Americans in the US. Again, it might be wise to move even father from the US than to just Mexico.

      @@Yodaandhislightsabre similarly yes but the cartel is obviously much more worse. Our government officials clearly participate in insider trading. But the cartels will straight up murder you for going against them and policies they support.
      And the cartels are rooted so deeply in the Mexican government that it’s unlikely to go away anytime soon.

    As a Mexican, I desire to leave because, there are 3 new candidates for president, 1 is a pawn under the cartels, 1 is a random lady and the other is a cocky and inexperienced leader, so i don't see a future to live here, and it might become the new china of production so it's good for investments but bad for its people and the environment
