The PRI party held power for 70 yrs.! During this time the people were impoverished and the infrastructure and PEMEX were forgotten! AMLO started the 4th Transformation which meant that Mexico should use its oil for domestic use and become energy independent and he stopped wasting public funds instead he’s using these monies to fund and improve important infrastructure such as the train Maya and the train Trans-Isthmus which will connect the Pacific to the Atlantic coasts. There is an unprecedented direct foreign investment by many countries in Mexico! Scheinbaum has promised to continue the programs started by AMLO which is why she enjoyed such a landslide victory! I tune in to Breaking Points every week to stay informed about world and American politics, as they have so much influence here in Mexico. I believe you are one of the few platforms that can be trusted. I've always been curious about why you guys never speak about your next-door neighbor. I was happy to see you finally did a piece, but it felt a little biased. I hope you can interview more people for a broader perspective.
If I may, here are a few things I think are part of the context and you may find interesting:
AMLO is the first leftist president since before WWII; Lazaro Cardenas nationalized the oil industry in 1938. According to Gallup and several other polls, AMLO is the most popular president in history with almost 80% approval. Considering Breaking Points' take on mass media, you might find it interesting that most of the oligarchy and mass media are against AMLO and Dr. Sheinbaum. AMLO made them pay taxes for the first time ever and took away much of the funding they were previously receiving from the government.
One of the reasons I love Breaking Points is your critique of politicians' opacity. AMLO holds a daily morning press conference at 7 AM, answering open questions from any media reporter, even from other countries. Breaking Points could send a reporter if you want. He has live debates with mass media reporters and good independent journalists. It's kind of like a podcast, featuring his cabinet giving government updates and addressing specific cases, from dramatic shootings across the country to archaeological discoveries from the construction of the Maya Train in the Gulf peninsula.
I'd really love to see you cover the number one trade partner of the US more deeply. Thank you for your work. I will stay tuned as always from Tijuana, Mexico.

    • @asel1124
      @asel1124 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

I'm also mexican, from Monterrey more precisely, I would love that AMLO was REALLY left wing, but he wasn't. In those same press conferences you talk about, how many times did he sidestep specific questions with "Tengo otros datos (I've other data)" That's straight out of the Trump manual. He did nothing to legalize drugs, cancelling the airport in Mexico city without an ounce of evidence it was a corrupt operation, the militarization, cancelling green energy contracts, etc. He did some good things, like increasing vacation days for employees, and increasing minimum wage (although considering inflation in reality minimum wage has decreased), Maya train was a good idea but badly planned and worse execution. That fact that he was better than idiot Peña Nieto and previous cronies doesn't make him good. We have to learn that if someone call themselves left wing doesn't make them so. For our American friends, it's like Featherman when he called himself leftwing.

The Jewish-Mexican thing is nothing new. Sephardim, who had thrived in Moorish Spain, emigrated to New Spain (Mexico) to escape the Spanish Inquisition under the Papist regime. The judges in Mexico have to decide cases on the light of the evidence. They also have to ensure that the due process of law is observed during the trial. If the persecutors are unable to prove that a defendant is guilty or they obtain evidence illegally, then the judges have to release the defendant. In such a case, the prosecutor is to blame not the judge. The federal prosecutors in Mexico work under the President's authority so ultimately it is the President's fault that the police and DAs are so incompetent. Amlo blames the judges because he is unable to accept responsibility for anything that goes wrong with his government.

I think they can register online and then vote online.
It’s more democratic to make it easier for people to vote. I like many agree u need to have a voter id no one is against that, what people hate about voter id laws is that they make it a hassle for people in some areas especially for minorities. And even after getting voter id they get scrutinized for having a different skin color, or voting is made difficult in their area.
Now if mail in voting is allowed there should be security around that 24/7, with video surveillance and police guarding the areas. The mail in votes have to have a time frame though to make it more transparent and ease up fears. They should only start from September and end mid October and all of those mail in votes should be counted first and shown on tv by November 1 and on election night the race should start from there, no more mail ins should come after that.
But same day voting should be like emphasized by declaring November 8 a national holiday, get the day of off, also if employees have to go get registered employers should give them a break or employees should get out early or get the day off to register. The country definitely needs more polling locations, voting shouldn’t take people all day in line. U also need police presence and arrest any person that is harassing the people in line whether they are liberals or conservatives.

3.i agree that voting should be day of, and n person, with valid ID…we should follow Mexico & vote on a Sunday, in person & with our equivelant of their federally issued/free INE ID.
4.The real voter interference is when they’ve only got 1 location for like 35,000 people…this has happened the last few years & it’s purposeful.
There is more than ample volunteers & locations to return in person voting to what it was 5yrs ago.

Plenty of places don't card if you look old enough, 3. you solved part of the rot of the issue with your number three, you don't have to put out ignorant shit. Limited time frames are restrictive for lower income people, most work on Sundays so that doesn't work in of itself, it has to be a nationally recognized holiday that allows for all business to have paid time off on it. You also have to make PHOTO ID easier to acquire both in terms of time and price. Otherwise allow online voting, if you can submit your taxes online safely, you can vote just fine. You can audit by giving a print off with a unique ID number for the ballot rather than name, and have it cross referenced after the fact, even use a 3rd party nonpartisan organization on top of it.

The PAN governor in Guanajuato city has even made stupid comments such as “we’ll try to limit or look for ways to limit the incoming tourists that do not have much money to stay a couple nights here or spend in restaurants and entertainment, we want people to come in and spend their money and if you don’t have any we’d rather you’re not using space here.”

The streets of Mexico City are paved with waterproof concrete and asphalt, people throw garbage and the drains are clogged, so the streets flood. The water does not penetrate and does not reach the natural deposits
What is needed is to remove all the concrete and replace it with permeable concrete and fine the people who litter, sentence them to pick up the trash. There is also a lack of public trash cans. The public plumbing has not been maintained in 70 years. The entire infrastructure has to be renovated and updated. Same with the sewage system.
There is also a problem that concessions are given to buildings and shopping centers that consume a lot of water without taking into account the neighbors and their homes. Corruption.
