Experimental Modular Marble Machine

  • I made this marble machine system a couple of years ago and now I made some new layouts with it. However, it's all handmade and isn't perfect because of slight deviations in some track parts but it worked good enough to make a nice video with it. I wanted to make bigger layouts, but I don't have enough support blocks to expand it. I will make new parts in the near future because I first need to invest in a workshop with professional tools. #marblemachine #marblerun #marbles #marbleasmr #asmr
Purple: Lifters, transport and elevating systems
Blue: Obstacles (like slalom, ramps, halfpipes, funnels, etc
    Green: Junctions, splits, switches, etc
Yellow: Sound modules with bells, nails, chimes, gongs, etc (NOTE: it's the intention to paint the base of the glockenspiel yellow as well)
Red: Tipping or releasing mechanisms which collects and releases marbles.
I also propose to add orange elements where marbles can be pushed or launched upwards, but needs to be hand loaded like the Gravitrax special parts.
IMPORTANT: These videos are quite simple compared with our main events, but I'm experimenting and trying to invent new and satisfying marble runs and contraptions. I now have limited stuff to make big marble runs, but I will purchase more stuff soon to build bigger constructions.
    Ideas are welcome!
And we don't forget to produce new marble racing and marble sports events, but it will take some time to produce it.

    • @gagamer7251

It's called an "Archemedies Screw", and it uses gravity pulling down on an object to hold it in place while the spiral twists underneath it, pushing up. It was originally used to move water up an angled version waaay back in ancient greece.

I find these videos mesmerizing. It’s not ASMR- I don’t get chills- but it’s still so satisfying to watch. The only downside is that sometimes the motor sounds like a hedge trimmer, and that distracts from the sound the marbles are making, but I know the motor is necessary to get the marbles to move upwards, so it’s ok. I’m impressed that you made this all yourself.

I loved how every one of these layouts had some form of momentum trap. If a marble didn’t have enough momentum going into the module it would get stuck until another marble bumped it.

Idea for an "orange" course element: a highspeed, uphill "launcher" conveyor belt, of a similar type used by Fubeca's Marble Runs in their old Glasscar races. It'd be a rubber belt, unlike, say, the K'nex-based "elevator" belt used in things like Marbula 1. Speaking of which, that very belt (the Marbula 1 belt, that is) would also qualify as an "orange" element as it pushes marbles upwards.
The only other idea I'd have for an "orange"-type element would be more suited for a "red"-type trap-and-release element, and it would have to be paired with a green junction element beforehand: So, there's a spring-loaded solenoid kicker of the type you'd find on a pinball machine. One route of the junction has the marbles line up in the path of that kicker, and the other path has the marbles roll over a trigger that fires the kicker, sending whatever marbles that are in its path careening uphill (basically, a more powerful "uphill" variant of that "trap marbles in a reservoir, then release one-at-a-time when full" element). Probably would be best paired with a three-way junction, so that marbles that take the third path don't interact with the kicker lane at all and go to some other obstacle or a noisemaker.
