Love those views, we are heading to Chester today for 6 days to explore on foot would love to be on the cut. Then moving for another 4 days in Oswestry so hope to visit aqueduct
@@TheNarrowboatPirate Second day in Chester and here for 4 more before travelling to Owesttry for 4 nights. Cant believe the booze prices here, double vodka and coke and a pint of fosters £5.20, in our town the larger would be £4.50 alone. Thanks for taking us for the walk under the aquaduct, rather be under than on top arghhhhhh, although the scenery just takes the breath away. Love your channel, take care =-).
@@TheNarrowboatPirate so much going on make your hair curl! House buyers messing us about/brokers lying about boats conditions. We’ve decided to concentrate on the house and a rental in the U.K. then/if we’re back go shopping. We’ll know more tomorrow xx
Cor blimey, the footage of you on the aqueduct made me feel quite queasy, incredible views and engineering..but I'm not sure I could manage it...keep away from the edge! You pirates are made of stern stuff.
Definitely done the aqueduct several times when living on our Narrow boat Ubique 10 years ago, Llangollen was our favourite canal. Did you know there is a plug in the middle of the canal chamber and every couple of years a childs name from the local school is drawn from a hat, they get the privilege of pulling the plug to release all the water to drain the chamber so it can be cleaned of all debris and leaves etc. Love your channel.x
Bat poo and spider jism. I wasn’t expecting that. I suppose I should have been really, but I wasn’t. Spat my hot chocolate over my dressing gown. Keep it up Heidi (no pun intended) 😄
Hi Heidi, great to see you and the gang again ! I noticed earlier today that you had posted your vlog but I left it until 11.30 tonight before I watched it. The reason I did that, well I realised one evening that whenever I watch your vlog I am sitting here smiling and that's what life is all about. The Pontcysyllte aqueduct is amazing, and when we take into account it only took ten years to construct and was finished in 1805 and I expect everyone must have thought Telford was completely mad when he said that he was going to build a cast iron trough across the valley, fill it with water so that boats could go across it ! I know you do badges, have you thought about making some Puddin badges and see how they sell ? I am sure he has a big following so you could be surprised at how well they sell. Finally (yes I know I know I talk too much) have you considered getting a metal "hat" to put on the end of your engine exhaust ? it should stop the exhaust blowing all the crap off tunnel roof and falling on the solar panels. BTW, what is Puddin's age ?
Hey Peter, thanks for watching - yes the aqueduct is amazing - what a genius that guy was! I’m going to do some badge designs when the trading season is over as well as writing some new music - it’s difficult at the moment as It’s still trading season, but end of October to Easter will give me loads more time to crack on with the fun stuff 😂😂 Puddin will be 12 in a few days 😃 I did have a splitter / cutted on my engine exhaust but it spit, so I’m going to have to think of a way of fitting another that can withhold the power that comes out of that exhaust 😃😃🏴☠️
@@TheNarrowboatPirate Sorry for always saying so much Heidi, I guess being a twin cylinder, the exhaust output is not as smooth as 4 cylinder and running slow will make it more noticeable too. I guessed Puddin was an elderly gentleman by his looks but he looks well for his age, what is the problem with his back legs Arthritis ? I think he has you and Jacks worked out and knows how to play the rear legs when he wants a cuddle and some treats! I saw him run in the video and he is a real little speedy when he wants to be. Sorry but I have to say about Pontcysyllte, it has got to be really scary when you are standing on the stern of a boat that is totally open, like some boats are and only have the tiller arm to hold onto going left to right. All it needs is one slip and you are out there with the birds, I hate heights so that's one thing I could not cope with ! You and Jacks both take care.
Hey Pete, I love reading your comments 😃🏴☠️ Puddin has good and bad days and is fine to potter about outside the boat all day long, but he can’t walk more than 150 feet in one go without falling over at least once, then sitting there feeling sorry for himself bless him but it is important to keep letting him try and when it gets too much he goes in his pram 😃
I've recently subscribed and I'm in awe of your adventures, it's reassuring to know its possible as a single person to manage and maintain a narrowboat. Looking forward to your next adventure. When I buy a narrowboat. I will be well equipped with all your info. Thanks for sharing.
Ahoy, thank you for watching and leaving such a lovely comment - wow exciting stuff about getting yourself a Narrowboat 😃 Hopefully see you on the canals in the near future 😃🏴☠️
Oh wow guys this has been a fabulous vlog. That aquaduct is amaizing WOW, the view! Poor pudding he's really getting on, bless him, hes still got some spunk tho. Did you find a pub to quench your thirst? Looking foward to next week.
After subbing to your channel now playing catch up and yes myself and the wife spent a few days around Llangollen and had a trip on the cannel, more or less starting where you was moored over Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and onto Llangollen, all in all it took just over 3 hours that was in August during that long spell of hot weather, and as you said after the aqueduct where your turn left we spent half the time grounding out with the narrow boat going backwards and forwards as the skipper tried to find parts deep enough to continue, next time we are in Llangollen going to have cruise on the horse drawn boats and see what it was like before engine power came along.
Did Pontcysyllte about 10 years ago, on a hire boat from Swanley Bridge Marina. I don’t think I’d have been brave enough to kayak it. Literally gasped when I saw you doing that. What would have happened if a narrowboat started crossing the other way?
I would have just jumped and used it as a parachute 😉 haha no I checked that nothing was coming before I went across and also if you go by boat you need to check nothing is coming first 😃😃
Great way of really seeing all aspects of the Aqueduct. Hope you found a pub ok. Good idea going early through the narrows., hope it’s traffic free. Looking forward to the next one, a rum in the Corn Mill perhaps (that’s not a euphemism, I do mean a drink in the pub😂).
The best 20 minutes of my week! Great job Heidi (and Jackie [sp?] and Capt. Puddin'). I'll send you a few $$ for that one. Hey I have a question - roughly how deep is a canal? I know it will vary from silt, dead bodies and other crapola but just gimmy a rough idea. Arrrr.
Love the (as my sister used to call it) "Garden Candy". Are there websites to view all the available items to purchase, whether yours staff or someone elses?
Ahoy, there mate!! what treasures are you selling today?? Love the aqueduct and the beautiful area around it. If I knew about the narrowboats while I was in the military I know I would have moved to the UK or England and still be living and piloting all over the place. No river rock unturned. No canal un floated.
Stumbled across your channel this morning and I'm absolutely loving it I have a question. I absolutely love the music you have written and perform (find it very relaxing and calming) and I was wondering if there is anyway online I can buy/stream it 🤔 Right, got to go ... Onto the next video ...
Done the aqueduct a few times, but I must admit, I've always stood the towpath side of the tiller! And I thought you'd greased those Stiff Ripples? And wasn't it in a previous vlog with the weir you mentioned about a potential Flow Job? You need to make sure the music fits the subject :)
stuck in wrexham at the moment going back to my boat in norfolk soon used to live in Middlewich and worked around Northwich and Nantwich so know a lot of the places you travel lovely place to be
Hope to go over that aqueduct one day. Being overly practical and with somewhat concerned interest. Can you see across one end to other? What happens if another boat comes the other way.? Especially if you were in the Kayak?
Yes you can see to the other end … when I went over on the kayak, I made sure I was following a Narrowboat even if I kept my distance … the etiquette is to approach and if you see another vessel to wait - sometimes you have to wait almost an hour as it takes a while to cross it and then as soon as a boat is leaving another may have started 😂😂
@@TheNarrowboatPirate thanks for explaining. I long to get back home to the UK and spend time on the Canals. I have the a kayak, , just need a narrow boat next :-). Love your VLOGS.
hiya old lass is the viaduct the only way you can get into wales or are their other routs in but you took the picture book one great views from there, cant make my mind up are you a alcoholic or as me a practising one, i do like a drink well a tin or sometimes two a day or are we both just a couple of light weights, take care flower keep well keep safe.
Do you require a traders licence to sell on the canal from the boat? is there a set market to meet up at ? I see a Facebook group for canal traders which I have joined but not got, any answers to my questions as yet. love the channel and thank you x
Hey Trish, yes you need a traders license and it’s all straight forwards once your business proposal has been accepted by the Canal & River Trust and all insurances etc have been put into place- I think mine took about 6 weeks. You can trade anywhere on the canals and you find out about events as you go along depending what area you are etc there is a group called ‘floating traders’ which is a lot more helpful 😄
Thanks Brian and yes it’s my own, I’m hoping over winter I’ll have more time as the trading season will be over to get all my tracks finished and available to download 😃🏴☠️
@@TheNarrowboatPirate thanks heidi I spend winter on the lanngolen Maybe will meet if you are still around we have met before 3 Maybe 4 years ago although I don't think you will remember anyhow be safe Brian x
I’m a little behind on my editing to be honest .. it takes me ages 😂😂 I’m hoping to be off the Llangollen by the end of next week and heading around the four counties 😃 I think I’m going to winter around Anderton / Weaver then get up the Macc for January / feb time stoppages permitting 😃😃🏴☠️
I can go the same speed as a Narrowboat, if not faster 😂 …. There are kayaks going across all day long - no one gets upset as it’s part of it up there 😃😃
@@andrewkitchenuk yeah all boats have to wait if someone on the aqueduct from either way … so just approach and if someone on there then wait … sometimes you are waiting for 6 boats, 2 canoes .. other times it’s free 😂🏴☠️
Hey Morris, not the Pirate stuff no, as it was too difficult to post parcels daily, but i do have a website for the badge business as they can just be posted in a normal post box every day 😃🏴☠️
It was 2ft 10 but i took a load of ballast out the boatmans cabin last winter so reckon I’m about 2ft 8 now … I’ll measure it again when I’m out the water in Nov for blacking …. She has a big bottom because of the mid engine and big prop

I was there last wk its great i took a historic boat across with the sounds of beloved bolinder but with a difference 😁 this was 4 foot long (model)
Amazing 😄😄🏴☠️
Heidi re you exhaust nocking the crap off the tunnel roof, get yourself a diffuser one of those brass loop type's (makes your exhaust fumes go sideways) regards Mike
It's called a "biscuit cutter" 😉
I did have one but it split …I try get myself another as I’m sick of cleaning my roof 😂😂🏴☠️
And again fantastic video Heidi loved watching this one. The viaduct is also Grade 1 listed
Thank you again for your lovely moment 😃🏴☠️
What a great video! Love seeing so much of Puddin’ ❤️
(I use a doggie pram/stroller too for my little old guy)
Great shots from the aqueduct!
Thank you 😃🏴☠️
Love those views, we are heading to Chester today for 6 days to explore on foot would love to be on the cut. Then moving for another 4 days in Oswestry so hope to visit aqueduct
Oh Bill it’s a must - it’s fabulous and you will also love Chester - such a quaint city 😃😃🏴☠️
@@TheNarrowboatPirate Second day in Chester and here for 4 more before travelling to Owesttry for 4 nights. Cant believe the booze prices here, double vodka and coke and a pint of fosters £5.20, in our town the larger would be £4.50 alone.
Walked to Cheshire Cat from Chester today for a pint or two Loving it :-)
You can’t beat cheap drinks 😂 we love the Cheshire Cat 😄
Thanks for taking us for the walk under the aquaduct, rather be under than on top arghhhhhh, although the scenery just takes the breath away. Love your channel, take care =-).
Thanks so much Lorraine 😃🏴☠️
Another great video, but no pub!!! Poor Jax, hope your all well and safe. Carol and Stu in Spain xxx
Awww thanks guys - any news on your boat ? 😄
Yeah it’s amazing isn’t it 😃🏴☠️
Definitely done the aqueduct several times when living on our Narrow boat Ubique 10 years ago, Llangollen was our favourite canal. Did you know there is a plug in the middle of the canal chamber and every couple of years a childs name from the local school is drawn from a hat, they get the privilege of pulling the plug to release all the water to drain the chamber so it can be cleaned of all debris and leaves etc. Love your channel.x
Oh wow Debbie that’s awesome .. wish I had known that when I did the editing 😂 thank you so much for watching 😃🏴☠️❤️
Dark and Stormy is me best fav drink at the moment. I am using Kraken Spiced rum from Trinidad bottled in the US.
It’s a gorgeous drink 😃🏴☠️🥃
Bat poo and spider jism. I wasn’t expecting that. I suppose I should have been really, but I wasn’t. Spat my hot chocolate over my dressing gown. Keep it up Heidi (no pun intended) 😄
😂😂
We did find a pub when we climbed back to the top 😂 but just had the one 🍺 see you next week 😃😃
love it
Thank you 😃🏴☠️
After subbing to your channel now playing catch up and yes myself and the wife spent a few days around Llangollen and had a trip on the cannel, more or less starting where you was moored over Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and onto Llangollen, all in all it took just over 3 hours that was in August during that long spell of hot weather, and as you said after the aqueduct where your turn left we spent half the time grounding out with the narrow boat going backwards and forwards as the skipper tried to find parts deep enough to continue, next time we are in Llangollen going to have cruise on the horse drawn boats and see what it was like before engine power came along.
I’m currently heading that way again … water levels are very low this time of year though for my deep drafted old girl 🏴☠️
Did Pontcysyllte about 10 years ago, on a hire boat from Swanley Bridge Marina. I don’t think I’d have been brave enough to kayak it. Literally gasped when I saw you doing that. What would have happened if a narrowboat started crossing the other way?
I would have just jumped and used it as a parachute 😉 haha no I checked that nothing was coming before I went across and also if you go by boat you need to check nothing is coming first 😃😃
I live locally and I’ve seen people who PADDLE BOARD across! Insane
Yes I saw some doing that when I was there 🤣 jeeze!
I was chatting to you when you were moored up next to the lady with Shadow the German shepherd. I was the chap with the mad weimaraner. Haha
Oh yes we remember 😂😂
@@TheNarrowboatPirate I don't being offered a tot of rum though, poor show me hearties. Haha x
😂😂 we can’t when trading as don’t have an alcohol license! Well that’s my excuse 😂😂🏴☠️
@@TheNarrowboatPirate 😄☠🥃👍🏼
That's looks amazing but I would defo poo myself going over the aquaduc.
😂😂 so did I 🏴☠️
Been there, done that. Smashing stuff.
Haha of course! 😂🥃🍺🏴☠️
That aqua duct is crazy!
Yes it really is 😃🏴☠️
Love all your videos, but do you also take photo shots from your many adventures?
Not really Jane as I don’t have a posh camera or owt just my phone and a go pro
Biggest in the world also a world heritage site
It was beautiful ❤️
The best 20 minutes of my week! Great job Heidi (and Jackie [sp?] and Capt. Puddin'). I'll send you a few $$ for that one. Hey I have a question - roughly how deep is a canal? I know it will vary from silt, dead bodies and other crapola but just gimmy a rough idea. Arrrr.
Hey Mike thanks for watching again 😃🏴☠️ the middle of the canal can often be about 5 ft or slightly over but obviously deeper on rivers 😃
@@TheNarrowboatPirate - Thanks matey!! Arrrr.
Good video 👍
Thank you 🏴☠️
O my gosh
😂😂
Amazing video... and yes I would most definitely shit myself!
😂😂😂
17 35 did you see that big spider in the canal ! yes walked over it and walk under it and taken lots of photos
I’m going back to check now 😂😂
Haha it’s probably just a bit of debris as that canal has quite a flow
Love the (as my sister used to call it) "Garden Candy". Are there websites to view all the available items to purchase, whether yours staff or someone elses?
I don’t I’m afraid just my badges on the pirate boat website … as posting unique items is a bit of a nightmare as they break 😂🏴☠️
Ahoy, there mate!! what treasures are you selling today?? Love the aqueduct and the beautiful area around it. If I knew about the narrowboats while I was in the military I know I would have moved to the UK or England and still be living and piloting all over the place. No river rock unturned. No canal un floated.
It is really beautiful - may be I’ll see you one day on the canals 😃🏴☠️
Stumbled across your channel this morning and I'm absolutely loving it
I have a question. I absolutely love the music you have written and perform (find it very relaxing and calming) and I was wondering if there is anyway online I can buy/stream it 🤔
Right, got to go ... Onto the next video ...
Awww thanks for watching Neil, I hope you enjoy 😄🏴☠️ I mention the music in one of the Christmas ones, not sure if you have got there yet 😂😂
@@TheNarrowboatPirateupto and watching video 30, plus found your music on Spotify, so one happy chappy.
Keep up the innuendos ... I mean great work 🤔🤣
Done the aqueduct a few times, but I must admit, I've always stood the towpath side of the tiller! And I thought you'd greased those Stiff Ripples? And wasn't it in a previous vlog with the weir you mentioned about a potential Flow Job? You need to make sure the music fits the subject :)
😞
@@TheNarrowboatPirate Only joking! Love your music :)
@@ronnielloyd4676 😄🏴☠️🎵
only live a couple of miles from the Aqueduct its scary enough driving past the bottom of it
Oh how beautiful to live nearby, i absolutely loved that place 😃❤️🏴☠️
stuck in wrexham at the moment going back to my boat in norfolk soon used to live in Middlewich and worked around Northwich and Nantwich so know a lot of the places you travel lovely place to be
Hope to go over that aqueduct one day.
Aww well I hopefully see you on the canals in the future 😄 glad you are enjoying them 😄🏴☠️
hiya old lass is the viaduct the only way you can get into wales or are their other routs in but you took the picture book one great views from there, cant make my mind up are you a alcoholic or as me a practising one, i do like a drink well a tin or sometimes two a day or are we both just a couple of light weights, take care flower keep well keep safe.
Hey Albert, yes the aqueduct is the only way in by boat 😄 I’m not an alcoholic 😂😂 but I do enjoy a drink, especially at the end of a long day 🏴☠️
@@TheNarrowboatPirate i am just on my second can now
Do you require a traders licence to sell on the canal from the boat? is there a set market to meet up at ? I see a Facebook group for canal traders which I have joined but not got, any answers to my questions as yet. love the channel and thank you x
Hey Trish, yes you need a traders license and it’s all straight forwards once your business proposal has been accepted by the Canal & River Trust and all insurances etc have been put into place- I think mine took about 6 weeks. You can trade anywhere on the canals and you find out about events as you go along depending what area you are etc there is a group called ‘floating traders’ which is a lot more helpful 😄
Love the music is it your own and if so do you sell copy's
Come down south if u want more. ☀️
I know it’s bloody freezing 🥶 😂😂
Summers coming beautiful and sunny blue sky’s today
The old boy pocked his head out today, his been hiding since before Christmas
Why isnt there safety bars on the other side
Ahoy, I think it’s probably because no one walks that side 😂🏴☠️
How long did it take to paddle across? And did you upset any boaters waiting to cross it? 🙂
I can go the same speed as a Narrowboat, if not faster 😂 …. There are kayaks going across all day long - no one gets upset as it’s part of it up there 😃😃
@@TheNarrowboatPirate I think they meant boats coming the other way. 🙈
@@andrewkitchenuk yeah all boats have to wait if someone on the aqueduct from either way … so just approach and if someone on there then wait … sometimes you are waiting for 6 boats, 2 canoes .. other times it’s free 😂🏴☠️
Where is the pub lol lol
😂😂
I've walked it and then bought 2 packs of incense sticks from you. I'm sure you remember!! It was about 3 years ago?
😂😂 From the Pirate boat ? I was on the Leeds Liverpool 3 years ago .. last time I was on here was about 5 years ago could it have been then ? 😂🏴☠️
@@TheNarrowboatPirate oh yeah. Time flies.
Do you have a website to sell your goods ?
Hey Morris, not the Pirate stuff no, as it was too difficult to post parcels daily, but i do have a website for the badge business as they can just be posted in a normal post box every day 😃🏴☠️
how long does it take you to set up the store?
About 2 hours
That aqueduct scared the s..t out of me. Not so much the canoe, more the shots from the boat.
😂😂 haha yes it’s very high
What's your boats draft?
It was 2ft 10 but i took a load of ballast out the boatmans cabin last winter so reckon I’m about 2ft 8 now … I’ll measure it again when I’m out the water in Nov for blacking …. She has a big bottom because of the mid engine and big prop
@@TheNarrowboatPirate we are going there next year and have a Steve Hudon and we are 2 foot 7
@@kevinseeley6452 if you go to Llangollen basin (next weeks vid once I’ve edited it 😂) just take it very slow and stay in the middle channel, you will be fine 😃 I did most of this canal in tickover but it’s doable and beautiful ❤️
