- I continue my solo narrowboat adventure cruising downstream on the Llangollen canal. Unfortunately the canal is still closed due to winter stoppages so I can't leave yet so i've been exploring away from the canal to nearby villages. This week I head off to Weston Rhyn in search of The Temple - a folly that is similar in plan to Stonehenge, at half scale it is said to have been erected around 1830 in the exact form of the celebrated druidical temple at Stonehenge, although it appears that the replica is far from precise. The builder has been identified as a Major West.

Raised a military brat, my mother often shopped on base at the commissary. She came up with the word "Comma-cart" one day while tripping over her words (a commissary shopping cart). Miss my mom!

😂😂 yes it would be fab but it’s hard to carry all my clothes, cameras and the jackery and solar panels down a towpath to a bus / train etc to get the van so I may try and get something a bit cheaper for the van 😄🏴☠️

As I single hand my boat I like to have a flag as when flapping i know how the wind is for mooring or winding the boat … my big un was tatty so I removed it and put a little one there until a new big one came … once I’ve got a big one again I’ll remove the small and put cannon back

Sorry sorry sorry,I missed you yesterday I had to take she who must be obeyed to the Hairdresser for a Perm ....hairdressers have such weird magazines.Then we had to go to the Bank, Canada is now in a "financial Crisis".Glad your'e going with the flow but please Heidi dear no more lies please you said the water was frozen when you were playing with your prop ....not possible if it was frozen. I'm wondering when Rum freezes ...please take necessary precautions.....drink it while you can .Thank goodness its warmed up a bit butnow its bloody snowing again ,must be winter or something..So me lil Piratical friend stay warm and take care coz you're very special .

It makes me laugh when you say it's bloody cold when it is -2 deg. C. I've had -30 deg. C. last week. Now, that's what I call col☃❄🥶d.
I know 😂😂 but being stood in one position without able to move your body for 4-5 hours is freezing 🥶 we have a very damp cold in the UK so different to other countries … I didn’t feel the cold the same when Ski-ing in Austria etc it’s a totally different moist nasty 😂🏴☠️

Hope you manage to keep warm, you are hot stuff after all, i did not envy you going down your weed hatch. The worst thing we ever had round our prop was an abandoned sari. Our old lady cat was responsible for the word "Fallollop", which we reckoned was a mix of falling down slowly and flop. It was the movement she perfected as she would curl up and lay down at the same time. Time for a hot drink before you find those organ stops again, take care. My favourite inuendo is, "She asked for an inuendo, so i gave her one". So you like a hard sausage then?

It is always interesting to hear how different the English language is depending on where you are at the time. The differences are interesting for instant your dinner, you called it a casserole which to us in the states is chopped vegetables, meat, and a starchy binder like mashed potatoes or tater tots or pasta. Your dinner we would call a stew, which would be more liquid, missing the binder. Either way I enjoy you and your channel. I learned something new from you. I did not realize that Wales and England are actually separate. I thought Wales was like a county within England. Thank you for the correcting me.

@@eganmacegan3724 yeah I always do … I can’t use gloves as you can’t feel fishing wire wrapped around the shaft with them … I have 2 weedhatch knives that cuts through so I can untangle it … being deep in the water means I pick up this crap almost weekly

We are full of water how do you keep your water tank from freezing is it from the heat stored inside the boat is that where your water tank is or is your water tank exterior on the bow???
My water has never frozen in 11 years as think it’s because it’s below the water line in the bow of the boat and my boat is usually about 32 degrees with the fire roaring it’s nuts off … I try to keep it topped up when I can too and it’s 1200 litre stainless steel tank

No as the boat is too warm inside, my boat gets up to 38/40C sometimes with the fires going … it may do if you are not living on it

421 horrible foreign metres, why not say it how it is, in Imperial measurements - thats 5 and ninepence ha'penny, or exactly 70 Poles, OR if you prefer 1 and 3 quarter furlongs!! Theres 40 Poles in a furlong (thats one heck of a long pole you've gotta use!). Theres 8 furlongs in a mile, easy innit; How many chains in a mile? Answer is 80; a chain = 22 yards, and railway curves are to this day still measured in chains! Yep, I've double checked me maths, all correct. I like exercising the poor old brain (whats left of it). I guess canals were laid out in chains by surveyors, which would account for the railways (which replaced and bought up canals) continuing the usage. When I started work in the architects office (at 40 shillings a week) I have thrown a chain (and folded it back up again) when we were measuring out for a new close of houses. I'd rather be laying out a new canal though!😆

It’s my whole body that gets cold after a 3 hour cruise so I try not to cruise too long … I need my hands free for the phone camera etc but I do put them on my pockets when not filming … I wear thermals so all is good as long as I don’t cruise long days …. Jakki left boat life in March last year to chase her own dreams although she does visit when we are both in the same area 😄 I’m hoping to get a visit in the next few weeks as not seen her since October 😄 (we did cover in a previous vlog - I can’t remember which though) 😂

Great vlog as usual Heidi. Weather looks nice but cold. That fishing gut is a nuisance and does like you say affect loads of wildlife .
Do you tie your weed hatch flap lid back with something, always visions of you getting a crack on head. Especially in windy weather. My experience in the garage job, I had a few cracks on head etc with bonnets etc. be careful especially on your own.

You would have to lash an outboard motor on a raft as the canals don't have much current, unlike a river.

Minger has a couple of meanings where I come from , with a soft G as you pronounced it its to rude to explain ( youtube would block my comment 🙇♂️) but with a hard G ( rhyming with ring) means it's Stinking as in " that toilet is minging or it's a minger " , I've recently found your channel and subscribed because you can’t beat a bit of innuendo .

Another goodin Heidi! I had no idea there was a mini Stonehenge. The things you find when you’re out walking eh? I was curious when the canal freezes does it also affect your ability to use your water onboard? That would surely be a problem if it did. Ahoy Sharon, my water has never frozen as it’s in a stainless steel tank in the bow of the boat and is used often and I’m moving the boat about a lot filling up etc … I’m not sure if it would if i just stayed put, didn’t use the taps and didn’t light my fire … my boat is usually around 30 degrees with the fire roaring it’s knackers off 😂🏴☠️
