Glad to see another Seeburg USC2 owner fixing up their jukebox. I've been working on ours since the start of the pandemic, and still am tackling different issues on it (as time permits). I, too, would recommend both the service manual with troubleshooting guide, parts catalog, etc. along with the guides written by Ron Rich (I believe he passed away recently). I just finished replacing the upper and lower light diffusers with custom diffusers I made using light gels (i.e. used for stage lighting), as the original plastic diffusers were disintegrating and horribly faded. I am pleased with how the lighting turned out, and very closely matches what the original sales brochures show from Seeburg. I would be interested to know what kind of insulation (?) that is you used around the horn (tweeter) edges. That looks a lot thicker than the HushMat Quiet tape I used, and there is still some light showing through around the edges of the tweeters with mine when the upper cabinet is closed, so I think something further is needed to close that gap.
I used foam weather striping that you can buy at any of the big home improvement store to go around the horns. I think 1/2 thick works best. Good idea on the light defusers. Where did you get those? I was hoping to buy Krylon transparent spray paint but they recently quit making it. I have both of Ron Rich’s books on these. Very helpful!!!
@@Ajsupcyclegarage Cool - I'll check into getting some foam weather stripping. I've been using the HushMat tape everywhere I found the old, rotted-out stuff that was originally used (after first cleaning it up!), including along the horn edges. I think it does help minimize rattling and other noises. But, there is still a gap between the horns and the rectangular frames for them on the portion of the lid that opens and closes. Not horrible, but a little of the fluorescent lighting shows through, which I would like to seal up. I bought the lighting gels from Adorama. I've used them for other supplies before, and they had a link to a color-matching site (Lee filters) that was very helpful. I wound up choosing 'medium purple' and 'deep blue', which came very close to the photos in the Seeburg sales brochure (included with the service manual I bought online), and the photo on Ron Rich's cover as well. I wish TH-cam would allow photos to be posted so I could post the ones I took showing the diffusers and how I put them together. I hope to eventually create a video like yours to show the major repairs and upgrades I've been documenting, but I'm waiting to get the jukebox fully working before I do that!
Thanks for this whole series! I just picked up a USC2 just like yours for an estate sale that has some gremlins in it that I'm hoping to fix. I'm curious what other kinds of cleaning solutions you used for the non-electrical metal parts, and what paint you ended up using if you refinished the outside? Again, this was super informative for me, and gave me a lot of confidence to investigate my own machine.
Hey Sam! Thank you for the kind words. I am glad it was helpful. I used Windex to clean everything off and I used Flat Black Rust Oleum paint for the wood and metal parts on the bottom. The metal up top around the glass and the grill is a coating and mine was in good enough shape that I didn't need to repaint them.
Have you been able to find any kind of paint to touch up the translucent paint on the glass front panel? A few small pieces have flaked off while cleaning, would love to fully restore it. Thanks again!@@Ajsupcyclegarage
Thank you so much for your troubleshooting video. I have issues with the sound too. I would like to get an external speakers that I can plug in. Do you have any recommendations?
Chances are the Amp needs to be serviced. Replacing the Capacitors is a good place to start but isn't a beginners project typically. You need some soldering skills and and a handful of new capacitors.
i have started working on a USC1 that Ive had for 20 years. This is my second go around with it.Who do you get your caps and resisters from. You nailed the volume switch! sounds great. Amazing piece of engineering!
I ordered all of the caps for the DCC from Digikey using the manual to make sure I order the right ones. Victory Glass sells kits for the DCC units. I think they sell the TSA10 amp kit to. JukeboxFridayNights sells the capacitor kits for the amps and that’s where I bought mine. There is a video I made about replacing the caps in the amp and the control unit on this channel. Thanks! Enjoy!

What would you value this jukebox at? (in a great condition)
Hard to say. it depends on the location and condition. I've never looked into it because I don't plan on ever selling mine 😄
