i just visited my cousin & she has one of these. It's not working but looks in great condition. It acts like it wants to work lol. And oddly she lives in Nebraska
Wild! Yeah if they have been sitting for a while they kind of need a little of everything to get going again but once you win that battle they are super fun!
You have to break down and buy them unfortunately. I tried to get by with out them and found that in most cases... you have to have it. Every machine is a little different and those manuals are the answer keys.
Hey AJ! Just wanted to say that I've come back to this video playlist about a dozen times while going through my USC2 and it's been immensely helpful. I'm a beginner, and a visual learner. Without your troubleshooting videos as a guide I don't know that I'd be able to make sense of the info on forums and in the IO Manuals I have. I appreciate the effort you put into making these available and you should know how valuable and helpful they are! I still have a ways to go with getting my Firestar to function at its best (I'm a little intimidated to replace the caps, thats next!), but it is playing *some* selections and scanning and playing stuff. Super exciting. I would love to find a color-match of translucent paint for the parts that have flaked off, but no dice on that yet. Also, the back of my selection keypad has four dip-switches. I cannot find any info about this anywhere and was curious if you knew what they were for? I wasn't sure if they were for pricing options or something. Thanks again!
Man... THANK YOU! It's always good to hear that it was helpful to someone. I'm not gonna lie... I have even used these videos a few times to remind me on what I did to fix something. HA! Glad its helpful. I plan to do more in the future. Sometimes the thrill of the hunt gets the best of me because I forget to start recording before I dive in. These are kind of hard to understand but once you get familiar with everything it starts getting easier and before no time you'll have it running and be looking for another one to bring home. 😉
I have a Matador and an SMC2 Phoenix. I want an Olympian, a Bandshell, and a few of the others from that era. I just love the design and engineering that went into them all. Plus they sound great!
@@Ajsupcyclegarage nice, the Matador is definitely one of coolest looking of all the 70s. Is the Phoenix similar to the Disco? I think it came out in 78..is that right?
It is similar to the Disco, just different colors, and has a disco ball. I believe it came out in 79. This is the first "Sternburg" (Stern-Seeburg) b/c Stern bought out Seeburg when they went bankrupt. @@irocitZ
@@irocitZ The Phoenix is shaped just like the SMC Disco but has different colors and the Phoenix has a disco ball and spot lights where as ironically the SMC Disco does not. Yep, 1979-1980 I believe.
@@Ajsupcyclegarage I looked at a picture of a phoenix, I saw the similarities. I have a line on a Disco I've known about it for awhile now, it's in great condition. I definitely like and want it, I'm not sure how I'm gonna fit it plus I have the two already. It took 3 of us to move the Bandshell, I'm not looking forward to that again. Also, I'm pretty certain my wife will most likely kill me if I bring it home. On the positive side because of the shape of it, it doesn't take up much room. It should fit nicely in a corner, that's how I think I'm gonna sell the idea to my wife, lol..
I have this jukebox and it turns on but when I select a record, the mechanism doesn't move to select a 45. It is rotating though - any suggestions of what it is would be very helpful. Happy to send you a short video that will help diagnose. I'm at the limit of my knowledge. I do have the manual but this isn't my skill set...
if you want to free play this unit you just pull the pricing card out, as nice as it is to put coins in i tire of that real quick, ps, at least it goes and makes a noise
It was a great deal, you nailed it! I didn't know before hand if it was going to be in as good of shape as it was. This USC was a 6+ hour round trip to get so believe it or not I was on the fence even at $100. I didn't know if I was picking up a Jukebox or a ratbox but it worked out. I only found one mouse and I'm guessing it only went in there to eat a few seeds and then die because there was no other evidence that mice had ever been in there. Crazy enough it was out there on the market for 2 weeks before I messaged the seller. They were wonderful people. it was meant to be :)

I have one. My issue is I can't find any repair manuals for it. Will be following.

What question do you have about the key pad? I can try to help :)
Nice box, I would know I have one of those and also a magenta 72 Seeburg Olympian. I dig the 70s boxes, I'm sure you will too.
