I Visit London Transport Museum

- London Transport Museum in Covent Garden is a must see if you are visiting the capital. The majority of the museum's exhibits originated in the collection of London Transport, but since the creation of Transport for London in 2000, the remit of the museum has expanded to cover all aspects of transportation in the city. I take a detailed look at the various different vehicles and trains on display along with sharing different facts about the items. I also take a look inside the gift shop at the museum, Drive a bus!, and see what its like to be a drive on the underground!

Tim, the London Transport museum building was once a flower market in 1871 as part of the covent garden market back in the day, it ceased being used in 1971, and eventually became the museum in 1980.
Nice .. did u just Google that lol
@@WalkWithMeTim Hi tim i have been to the london transport many times the last time i was there was when the new Elizabeth line Exhibition arrived.
i've not been to the new version of this, but i loved the old version, this one sounds even better. the interactive sections were brilliant. as a blind person, getting hands on with the transport was wonderful.
Fantastic!! And how great for kids! I learned so much from this...
to see the old trains, buses etc...
Watched the documetry of old paintings and old pictures of train systems watched on telly always used to visit when i was small as a family with dad and mum
Everytime I go down to London from Edinburgh I pop into the transport museum for the upstairs part of the gift shop for the model buses. I love buses and could spend a whole day in there
I visited this museum about 20 years ago. I love it, it's one of my favourites and I would like to go back again someday. The early tube train without windows looked very claustrophobic! My other favourite museum in London is the Science Museum, partly because they have the original Apollo 10 capsule which orbited the moon in March 1969. Getting close to real historical objects somehow brings the past to life. Thank you for another interesting and informative video.
Love the buses, tube and trains. Used to frequent the museum regularly and brings back memories of my railway career. My mother used to travel on the trolley bus from Croydon to Crystal Palace back in the 50s. Nice video 👍
Thanks david, did u drive trains?
@@WalkWithMeTim
Once up on the North Norfolk Rly as a volunteer otherwise I was 25yrs a signalman
Your London Transport Museum video was so interesting Tim
I had to smile when you got behind the wheel of the bus.Thanlyou for another fab video
Beautiful old trains fascinating great vid ✨great day out especially with kids
My favourite there is the old tube train, so evocative and so much nicer than the modern stock. I loved the handles that hung down from the ceiling!
And loved that old smell too
Great video. Must get to the museum myself one day. The "60s" tube train you went in was 1938 tube stock. The were used up until the mid 80s and I remember travelling on them on the Northern Line as a teenager. I loved the 38 stock as it was like travelling back in time with all the art deco design touches and that great interior. Incidentally, they just retired some 38 tube stock on the Isle of Wight's "Island Line" which ran services from Ryde pier head to Shanklin. Not bad for an 80 year old train
Wow
That was really cool Tim. I must go see that soon, so much interactive stuff to do. A big kids dream, Great video.
i went here many years ago great museum

You had a Bootser then Katie😆 well done!
Ummm thanks katie lol
😉
@@johntyjp yes I did but had to go to boots pharmacy in Huntingdon as st Neots did not have any and work was asking if I had my booster and had flu jab done at the same time
@@WalkWithMeTim watching all your videos from London tonight and they are amazing
'Hidden London' part is exhibiting the fact that tours are available to go into areas of the Underground normally prohibited to the public. You can arrange to join a tour through London Transport Museum and they will take you into tunnels abandoned decades ago, etc.
Very enjoyable but, as you admitted, you were in a bit of a hurry to get round before closing time so a bit rushed. Thirty minutes would not have been too long a tour. My recollection of the gift shop was of high prices - not as expensive as Harrods :) , but...
Lol
I am from norwich tim
Oh I thought gt Yarmouth

It not very interactive is it. Like sitting down on them.. I doubt they are actually the real vintage train so they should let you sit down and experience it than having dull signs
