You made all the rookie mistakes of traveling to the Philippines. Not buying onward ticket☑ Exchanging PHP outside the Philippines☑ Not filling out E-Travel 3 days before travel☑😄
And you disregarded the sign at the taxi lane which states that you are to pay meter rate, not negotiate with the driver. Furthermore, you never ask any taxi driver in the Philippines 'how much' because this allows him to dictate his preferred amount. From the airport to your hotel on Friendship drive, the meter rate is around 250-300 pesos. Last year, I had two incidences with those blue taxi drivers. In both cases, I filed a complaint with the airport police. At one time, I had to summon a police sergeant to come with me to the taxi stand and order a driver to take me. The drivers knew my face by then and they refused to take me, telling me I had to take the more expensive service van. They are a mafia set up by the company that has a contract with the airport administration. You can't contact Grab at the airport. Grab is blocked from access to picking up passengers at the airport. They can only drop off passengers. By you paying 600 pesos (I refused last year to pay 500 pesos), only gives more incentive for the drivers to continue with their abuse of unknowing arriving foreign nationals. I pay a little more flying Philippine Airlines and get mileage and access to its passenger lounge while transiting via Manila, but for me it's better than having to deal with those drivers at Clark. I often fly between Bangkok and Manila. Once last year, I did take Cebu Pacific. I don't like the late hours flying either direction.

If you are registered into the VA FMP system as a service-connected veteran, Medical City Clark has online access to your record for service-connected condition. I was in that hospital in April, 2023, 8 days for service-connected condition. The bill of around 450k pesos (about $8,000 USD) was billed directly to VA FMP. I only had to pay for my food. There is also direct billing for outpatient. Tricare the same, but with the 25% co-payment. if you are not registered in the VA Health Care System, the receptionist at the counter inside the VA Clinic in Pasay, Metro Manila can direct you to get on the telephone with the VA regional office (same building). Make sure you bring valid ID. passport. One ID can be left at security, and the other take with you inside. You can only bring into the clinic one small pouch/purse, mobile phone. No other gadgets like laptops. ipads. etc. Since around 2017, the VA clinic in Pasay only serves service-connected veterans. Their services are limited to examinations/assessment, some basic vaccines, and limited pharmacy needs. They do annual medical exams for service-connected, but only if advised by your assigned doctor. Contrary to what the VA Manila media announcements have stated in recent years, I sense that the clinic's years are numbered. The scale back began in 2017. In that year, the VA clinic no longer issued letters of referral for service-connected veterans to seek specialty care in the private sector. Since then, veterans have had to pay out of pocket for treatment, then submit their claims online to VA FMP. I've spoken to a few veterans who have had to wait 6-8 months for reimbursement by VA FMP. And the program continues to mail out checks to your address in the Philippines. Unlike Tricare, they still don't have direct deposit set up. I you have a service-connected condition that needs frequent attention to, it may be best to live in the Angeles City area or Central Luzon. Medical City in Iloilo also has VA FMP and Tricare agreements. One last note: I now live in Jomtien, near Pattaya, Thailand. Bangkok Hospital Pattaya also has agreement with Tricare and VA FMP for direct billing, but only for inpatient services. The efficiency and process for getting medical care here far surpasses that of Medical City Clark.
Great stories and glad to see your are happy and screw people on here that think they know better than you what you want in life! Be safe my friend 😎🇺🇸
