It's a great kata done impeccably by a master. I'm learning it for my next dan test. A bit different rhythm but it's all there. sensei Diaz' stances are beautiful to watch. Gracias maestro. and thank you Jesse.
i dont want to be proud of doing something bad, but this kata is my foundation. saved me because i know it unconsciously. Sensei Diaz moves without wasted movements. Bravo
Been watching these videos of the inoue yoshimi seminar and it’s opened my eyes so much. Jesse, would be cool if you made some content about this stuff again. Love your channel but looking for info on how to take my kata to the next level.
This is the Goju version but using late Soke Inoue’s tech. We trained in Inoue Ha tech and apply in other Ryu Ha’s kata. Rika San can do this version of Goju kata in the dojo too. Of course , Antonio did make some changes to suit his own body feeling cum using that for his competition. Do enjoy his sharing. 😊
I have been studying Shotokan, Karate do for 54 years, we have in our system the kata called "Haya ku hachiho" which is considered the shotokan version of this kata.
@@KARATEbyJesse I was checking your old and I almost forgot you began your channel uploading kata competition. I am an old subscriptor 😅. I always wonder why you haven't made a kata tutorial. Maybe you can make a collaboration with Team ki guys.
I've noticed something in karate kata that I don't see in tang soo do, in some stances the toes are turned more inwards instead of straight, why is that? Thank you!
@@TheOctabreaker it’s a very fundamental concept in goju ryu. If you angle your feet slightly inwards you can close the distance between your knees by sinking down and this will make a groin kick harder to land. Especially useful in close quarters where you might have a hard time blocking or even reacting to a low kick. Due to this it’s mostly applied in the sanchin stance.
@@jyveborg thank you! that makes a lot of sense now that you describe it like that. We don't do this in our stances in any of the tang soo do forms I've learned yet (can't speak to any of the black belt forms yet). So now I wonder if any of the more advanced forms incorporate that!
OSS,,,, I am confused with his kata Superempie,,, his style is Shitoryu but his kata Superempie is Gojruy style,,,,, please understand me,,, and please reply
Mabuna Kenwa and Chojun Miyagi were both friends, and students to the same teacher (Higashiona sensei). Suparinpei is not a Goju kata, it's a "Naha-te" kata, and as such, both Mabuni and Miyagi taught it. 🙌
He was training in Goju kata before joining Inoue Ha Shitoryu. Late Inoue Ha Soke Inoue Yoshimi had devised his own way of Kihon to connect our body and tech and then we would apply these Kihon into kata of different Ryu Ha. So we in Inoue Ha are not bound by style restrictions.

To enable protection of the groin is one reason.
@@jyveborg I hadn't considered this!

Good
So it's been the theme of why people practice kata then - to win medals with snappy tricks and get those "difficulty points".
