If you haven't played the original in about a year or so, they've dramatically patched the handling w/ a pad/controller. Of course, it's never going to be as good as a wheel, but it definitely is possible to use the controller & do well now.
Great, I didn't know it had been patched up, I'll give it another go and also try looking up some tutorials for the controller, I haven't picked it up since a week or so after it launched. Cheers for the info!
+AlkalineSkink5 I concur...the karts were a lot of fun w/ the controller (& no assists). I actually had more difficulty transitioning from them to standard cars (especially FWD ones) and had to add in a few assists until I could finally stop finishing in last. :) hehe
FWD cars are fine Go karts are fine (actually they were the easiest for me to handle with a freaking game controller) AWD was no problem straight from the get go... then i drove a RWD car... my god counter steering the other direction when doing a semi/MINI DRIFT will either A. turn the other way so fast you dont know what happened and slide everywhere, or B. your car would not counter the drift it would lock up on the same direction you were facing when you "accidentally" got into a fight with a drift and you will go the same direction you turned into before the drift regardless of what you actually did with your left joystick i spent countless of hours trying to fix this... SPOILER ALERT.................. IT DINT FUCKING WORK >:| why is it the only sim racing game that got the controller part right was forza, every forza ive played was FANTASTIC with the controller so much so that i think i prefer it over a steering wheel
I have played many racing sims over the years and there is one thing that everyone of them have in common, new cars are boring as hell to drive. I honestly dont care about the new "laferrari" or the latest lamborghini, they drive like a train, have no character and going 200 mph in these cars isnt as exciting as going 60mph in older cars. Racing sims are amazing these days, its probably the genre that has seen the biggest improvements over the last couple of years, but I want a new racing sim that has mostly older cars to drive with, they are so much more fun to drive compared to the new dull cars. New cars are comfortable to drive and are safe which is great but in racing games or racing in general, its just boring and electronics makes them feel like trains.
Loving how this is shaping up, the first game was an insane amount of fun and this one has cool technical feats, a bigger GT3 field and RallyCross. A game can't possibly be bad if it features the most exciting sport on the planet.
I played Project Cars VR at EGX in 2016. I really hope that this will be there this year, it was so good, especially with the responsive seat and pedals the guys used there.
The Driver License is an interesting thing for the Consoles. In online lobbies, it is impossible to have a clean race. Maybe the License is an soloution for this problem. Im really looking forward to this game!
I'm looking forward to the new cars plus the new weather system. Outside of that, the game was fine as is, at least for me. Though it will be nice if some of the cars out of the box handled a bit better (like the Group 6 Renault, Ford Mk IV and like one or two GT3 cars) without delving into hours of setup on Monza to get a proper setup. Also the inclusion of a proper Suzuka circuit would be nice. But really, new cars, new tracks, new weather system has me quite excited to get this game. Logged hours on the first (mostly SP because I like endurance racing as a standard, no fun unless it's at least 50 laps :p) and can't wait to do the same in the second. What I really want is custom class setup for multi-class racing. Like pitting GT3 and LMP together or other random classes like Formula Ford vs Group 5.
I was impressed at E3 when the guy said the position of sun's reflectiveness on the track depends on the time of day and the temperature effects the track too. Do other games have these factors like GT Sport?
I know this is a weird selection of cars to want in the game, but I'm kinda hoping that they put a 2011 RX-8 and a Alfa Romeo 4C in Pcars 2... Great video, btw!
What I got from the "controller fix" is that the settings are just set up for a controller rather than a wheel by default. I'd be tempted to get it if they can prove that it's been properly fixed for a controller. As it stands, I can either have ridiculous twitch oversteer or no opposite lock at all...
If they can nail the physics this time round and have Live Track 3.0 performing correctly, it could make for some great endurance races. I found PCars slightly lifeless and disappointing and quickly moved back to AC, but i'm keeping an eye on this for sure
Biggest problem I had with the first Project Cars was the damage model, or lack thereof. It was a real immersion killer to be able to ricochet off walls at high speed, with nary a scratch.

Heavy damage (like beamNG) Real sounds (that bass and deep sounds from a powerfull engine). Extreme tunings (like UG Lambos or Alpha GT-R's) Engines actually getting on fire when too hot or exploding when too powerfull. Engine swaps (S2000's with LS V8's, Silvias with RB26, GT86 with 2JZ etc etc. Rotary engines. 2, 3 or 4 rotors. Engine sounds change when exhaust is changed. Still think I'm gonna get Forza Motorsport 7 that is also pegged to launch this year instead of this. Unfortunately this game doesn't have the reputation Forza has so I won't know if it's gonna be any good. Plus, come on, a car list of only 170? Forza Motorsport 2 that launched in 2007 had 349 cars. Gran Turismo 2 that launched in 1999 has over 600! I feel like not having over 300 cars in your racing game nowadays automatically puts you at a disadvantage.
Devin Stair I really like Gran Turismo, but at least 40% of the cars are different Nissan Skylines, 30% are cars you would never think of using in a race and most others are almost identical versions of the same cars with like 2bhp difference
Fair point, but to be honest, I actually really enjoy taking cars that have no place on a circuit, and making them raceworthy. Games like Forza excel at this with its in-depth tuning and engine tweaking. While the first project Cars had a tuning system, I couldn't engine swap an LS or 2JZ. I wasn't a fan of how they handled their car system. "Here's a car, race it, then we get it back." It felt too detahced for me.

Sounds cool and all... But half of these things you mentioned were promised to be in Project Cars 1. Maybe as paid DLC, otherwise as an update later on. They wanted Project Cars 1 to be the "Definitive" version of all racing games that would be constantly build upon. Suddenly when they got a publisher behind them, they scrapped that idea ENTIRELY.
Hopefully they deliver what they claimed in this title. To be honest PCARS1 was seriously lacking in a lot of important aspects, including suspension/tire physics, sound (for some cars, especially ZondaR), FFB, notorious menu system that doesn't make a single sense, and graphics optimization especially in rainy weather. If PCARS 2 turns out to be as good as they say, then I'll buy it when it comes out.

How do these games work, like do you drive manual cars or are they just automatics? And what are good steering wheel/pedal sets to buy? I've never played a legit driving game before but I always enjoyed the F1 games back when I played the N64 and stuff.
Chris M Your input scheme mirrors that of the actual cars. If they're manual you'll use the h shifter, or if they're sequential, you use paddles. I doubt any cars in this game would be automatic, but you can choose to make them that if you like. Good entry wheels at the moment brand new are the G29 and T150. But I recommend the T300 with T3PA pedals as a mid range solution.
I didn't like PCars 1 that much.. but I have to admit I'm getting very hyped for this game. It's everything I wanted the first one to be, and it seems like finally a sim may create a competitive environment like iRacing.

You should do a video on the times children did things in games that they can't do IRL, like the little sisters in Bioshock 2 making those little dolls. And where'd they find a baseball in a claustrophobic underwater city where you can't throw a ball more than a meter without hitting a wall?
I am very stuck between GT Sport and Project Cars 2. GT Sport is what I'll probably go for due to the way it handles the Career or offline modes. And there's the car modding and liveries too which draw me to it. But PC2's gameplay just looks incredible, I can't peel my eyes from it.
I'm getting it. I'm a gold member of the wmd thing (I'll get digital copy & my name will be in the credits & an AI driver name). Can't wait to put in some laps using my Thrustmaster TX.
First Project Cars had game-breaking bug that kept destroying my career-saves. Not even hours of looking online helped me find a trick that would fix the problem for me. Hopefully this next game doesn't share this fault as i'm otherwise running quickly out of driving-games i'd like to play due to ALL of the Forza-games having become broken and not offering me any online-functionality and the abhorrent lack of customer-support from Turn 10 hasn't even tried to contact me back in 2 months...
Hopefully they get the physics right this time. PC1 was just not good enought compared to Assetto Corsa in Terms of driving and especially tire simulation
Nah, a game i woyld like would be a game where you can work on the engine of innexpensive cars and tune it. Jdm cars with 700hp, r34 maybe, i'm not really a supercar or a hypercar person. i like watching videos where a golf gti or a turbo civic beats a lambo. Those are amaizing. Sir Jarko is driving go kart with a pad that hard I barely got the game 4 days ago and find the go karts the easiest think to use with a controller

Normally sims have less cars because it's more difficult and time consuming to get the cars as close to real life as possible.
Forza's Motorsport series is a simulator, and they meticulously model thier cars as close to real life as possible, and Forza 6 had 460 cars.

my question is, will you be able to get the tiniest amount of tire slip without instantly spinning out and hitting every wall around you without owning a 1000£ wheel setup unlike the old game?
Sounds cool and all... But half of these things you mentioned were promised to be in Project Cars 1. Maybe as paid DLC, otherwise as an update later on.
They wanted Project Cars 1 to be the "Definitive" version of all racing games that would be constantly build upon.
Suddenly when they got a publisher behind them, they scrapped that idea ENTIRELY.
Hopefully they deliver what they claimed in this title. To be honest PCARS1 was seriously lacking in a lot of important aspects, including suspension/tire physics, sound (for some cars, especially ZondaR), FFB, notorious menu system that doesn't make a single sense, and graphics optimization especially in rainy weather.
If PCARS 2 turns out to be as good as they say, then I'll buy it when it comes out.

I've got to say that the graphics are not really what I expected them to be. Yes this game is wip but we all know that they wont get that mich better and they are not looking that much better than in pcars1
in the "leaked" trailer there's also a Lamborghini. wmdportal site for PCars 2 says 200+ cars from over 40 different vehicle classes
And here I was getting excited for GT sport... There goes plan a, Project Cars sounds and looks amazing!

Lets hope they got it right this time. First game was more concept then a game.

outsidexbox sadly racing games are pretty much dead. so is cod. so is ac. my favourite series' all lost their touch
yes i think i will but the new Project cars 2 game when it's comes out , i like the first game wish the free weekend play didn't have to end on Sunday

How do these games work, like do you drive manual cars or are they just automatics? And what are good steering wheel/pedal sets to buy?
I've never played a legit driving game before but I always enjoyed the F1 games back when I played the N64 and stuff.
Chris M Your input scheme mirrors that of the actual cars. If they're manual you'll use the h shifter, or if they're sequential, you use paddles. I doubt any cars in this game would be automatic, but you can choose to make them that if you like. Good entry wheels at the moment brand new are the G29 and T150. But I recommend the T300 with T3PA pedals as a mid range solution.
how much power will all that physic rendering take though? its amazing, but I cant believe the power it will take can do well on heat

I didn't like PCars 1 that much.. but I have to admit I'm getting very hyped for this game. It's everything I wanted the first one to be, and it seems like finally a sim may create a competitive environment like iRacing.
Christ! I want it now! I really hope the weather this time is really random and not pre-determined in the campaign in the first game! This and red dead redemption 2 will make this an amazing year!

You should do a video on the times children did things in games that they can't do IRL, like the little sisters in Bioshock 2 making those little dolls. Seriously, kids have an imagination, but not that much of one. And where'd they find a baseball in a claustrophobic underwater city where you can't throw a ball more than a meter without hitting a wall?
I couldn't get into 1, it was just the fact that I refused to believe race tires are completely useless until they've heated up.

I am very stuck between GT Sport and Project Cars 2. GT Sport is what I'll probably go for due to the way it handles the Career or offline modes. And there's the car modding and liveries too which draw me to it.
But PC2's gameplay just looks incredible, I can't peel my eyes from it.
I have to go to hospital I'm having to many cargasms man I'm so so so so pumped hyped exciting can't wait. Collectors will be pre ordered today :)

First Project Cars had game-breaking bug that kept destroying my career-saves. Not even hours of looking online helped me find a trick that would fix the problem for me.
Hopefully this next game doesn't share this fault as i'm otherwise running quickly out of driving-games i'd like to play due to ALL of the Forza-games having become broken and not offering me any online-functionality and the abhorrent lack of customer-support from Turn 10 hasn't even tried to contact me back in 2 months...
Hopefully they get the physics right this time. PC1 was just not good enought compared to Assetto Corsa in Terms of driving and especially tire simulation

Nah, a game i woyld like would be a game where you can work on the engine of innexpensive cars and tune it. Jdm cars with 700hp, r34 maybe, i'm not really a supercar or a hypercar person. i like watching videos where a golf gti or a turbo civic beats a lambo. Those are amaizing. Learn the definition of a petrol head, but i loved the video and ur channel is awesome bro.
I definitely need to grab myself an VR googles and a new and better wheel to play ProjectCars 2.
