Making Slodog Part 2

- This shows how I make my modified Slodog kite using carbon fiber for the bow and spine and polyfilm for the sail. This kite I hot cut using a small rechargeable soldering iron. Because I'm hot cutting the sail, I used a piece of tempered glass spritzed with water and smoothed the polyfilm gift wrap sail material on to it. Then made the kite and cut out the sail and added an adjustable spine tensioning line and the bridle along with battens. For free plans and tons of information about building and flying North American fighter kites go to fighterkites-n...
Nice video!
Man! I made a rookie mistake on your buka plans. I did the tensioner line on the LE , then made the bridle. Dotted the bridle points with super glue and realized I tied the tension line inside my bridle. HAHAHA.
I have a BASF skin on deck.
that's a cool story.........and sounds like things I've done, welcome to the fun of fighter kiting!!;o)
멋진 전투연입니다. 프로의 연이 내 손에 들어올때 나는 이것을 한국 스타일로 날려볼것입니다.
Thanks! Flying it Korean style means flying with your reel or does it mean something else?
@@bruce.lambertYes, I want to try flying it using a reel.
Hey Bruce I Am from Selah, Wa im going to sew up a nylon Buka Based off your plans what diameter cross spars did you use?
Several years ago I lived in Yakima, small world;o) If the buka you plan to make is 10"x15" or very close to those dimensions, either a 1.3mm or 0.05" diameter carbon fiber rod works best. I typically use 0.05" for all the spars. I have also made them using a 1.5mm diameter rod for the leading edge spar when I plan to fly it in stronger winds. Hope this helps. Bruce
@nafk8080 thanks so much!
Please let me know when your buka gets airborne! They are fun kites to fly, have you flown any fighter kites previously or is this your first?
@nafk8080 this is my first fighter. Got nylon and spars on the way!
Please let me know if there is anything that comes up you think I can assist with, happy to do it. My email is kitefighter@yahoo.com
