Every time I board a Hyena III or derivative, I have to remind myself to be very thorough because it has the most confusing layout of any ship I've seen. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten to the cockpit/bridge and find out there are still crew alive somewhere. The value makes it worthwhile, but it can be frustrating.
I let them sit in inventory for a long time, until I found a repeatable internal reconfiguration that made them work for me. I have to admit, I still lean on the Claymore III most of the time, but I do like the others in some RP moments.
❤NG+7❤ Build this ship every time 😊 Couple of Notes, WD 3015s=180, drop Cockpit down with slim docker below creates 1 entry point with 1 ladder to Cockpit! NG 2x2 Living Quarters Starboard gets you Pool Table❤, lastly front Docker on Port lets you 'Ram' other ships😊❤
Great ideas. Will definitely try them out. I knew there was a better engine in that group, but glossed over it and wasn't paying attention. That 180 is great.
I did the same, but dropped the huge 3x2 mess/cargo hall on the underside and filled it in with Nova bracers. I also used the 'Place Doors Yourself' mod to make it a bit more manageable.
That's a neat layout. I'm kind of stuck on the Stroud cockpits and last time I had one of these I put it right over the bay and ditched the top level. I always aim to have the bay and docker in the same place near a bed for efficiency/lazy.
I am referring to the Portholes on sides. As an example, in the Captain's Quarters, the bathroom will be removed entirely if you place a porthole on that side. It happens everywhere. I don't think the ones on top do much, but wouldn't be surprised if they did. I generally avoid the floor portholes.
👍😎New to the channel. Really enjoying the build series. Tip (usually works) If you don't like the weather: Get out of ship. Fast travel back to ship. Weather will be different. ;) (Usually more clear skies)
Random security people on stolen ships is becoming a real nuisance. I too was a big Wight/Hyena fan and always rearranged for simpler interior design, but I prefer to put a stack of 1x1's on the back making a single ladder to the bridge level. And i always use the Deimos Ares bridge. I think its a sleeker look and i prefer the level entry rather than the ladder style, but that's just me. My last few universes I've finally picked up a UC Chimera and its now my fave design to start with. Once again I have to rearrange to make it useable inside, but I think that at least my redesign is the best looking ship in the game. When I first start a NG+ and i'm flying solo (no companions yet), when i take over a ship like that I'm often finding angry crew who attack me mid flight even though I killed everyone, registered the ship and modded it. They seem to spawn and go aggro, actually stopping me from grav jumping and shooting at me while I'm in the pilot seat! Its only when i start adding crew of my own that they seem to calm down and just cluster around, getting in my way. What is cool about the security crew in your video is that they're actually seated and working! Mine all stand around blocking my way through the ship. I'd be ok if they were friendly and sitting at consoles :)
I've been using a heavily modified hyena/wight for most of my playthrough. Can't remember which version it was that I commandeered. I'm using 6 sal 6830 engines to keep my mobility at 100 and have enough thrust to have a large cargo capacity. Shap has every I need for game play and rp. Your design is leaner than mine, but still pretty cool.
@@kineer at launch there was a lot of complaints about ppl building bases only to get them deleted, funny it didn't effect me until now, am loving the new Starfield feel
That's terrible. I had minor issues (since fixed), but haven't returned to any heavy outpost building. I'm looking forward to it at a later stage though. Maybe after another few patch cycles.
@@kineer think I noticed this problem before but like you wrote they patched it out, also just lost 6hrs of gameplay because of a health bar bug 'sigh manual saves 💩' just wondering if you'd run a 75%xp boost run its insane
If you were to update the original engines it came with, you'd get 100 mobility even with adding some cargo and weapons and a better grav drive. And with Sam on board your speed is around 200
Roger that. Crew with Piloting skill should increase speed and the entire ship can be better balanced for weight and engine. ShipTechnician has some very nice work in that area and [frankly] that process is fun.
I didn't expect this to be out so quick. Like how you changed the layout - you've inspired me to fix my Wight III. Also how do you remove the security people from the inside? They are quite annoying
If anyone asks, "They fell down." They are odd NPCs. When I eliminate them, there's no bounty. Betty Howser says "Good work." Omari said, "They were no much for us." They are somewhere between friendly and enemy. The game seems indifferent to their status. We'll see if they or others keep coming back. I will note that one dropped a nice UC Navy uniform. On the video, I was working on the two ship build videos in parallel so the timing was right.
Alright so I tried redoing the layout of my Wight III. I removed all 1x1 habs, replaced pretty much all the habs with Deimos ones because I like the look of the diemos interiors. The layout still makes no sense, I have 3 ladders now all in odd places. Is there any way to know where ladders will be, or how to force ladders/doors to be where you want?
It's a bit of a dark art, imo. I do a LOT of experimentation on builds, i.e. I change a hab, exit the builder, go inside, see what it looks like and where things land [repeat, repeat, repeat]. It's a decent practice to keep a junk ship in inventory that's just capable of flight/travel to star yards, but can be Frankenstein'd with parts for testing. Make small changes to ships you depend on or want to fly regularly. Do test layouts on the Franken-ship.

YOU have that NG 2x2 Living Quarters 😂, also, that 3x1 Deimos is better as the Living Quarters also, instead of the All in one. Try it!!!
I dig your Battle Stations Layout, I always go straight in the back of the Armory with 2x2s to either side as the foundation

My favorite fighting ship is the Va'ruun Revelation II.... that this is a tank. I captured and did a few upgrads and use it as my bounty hunting ship.
Their ships are like flying bricks (in a good way). :)
I will come check this later if any questions:) Thx Kineer for reliable interesting content!!
Heck of a fight, and you're not even using particle beams! Another nice build!

Hard to tell the difference between efficient and lazy. Works the same. ;)
@@kineerOddly enough, I was ship hunting after I watched the video and the 1st thing I got was a hyena 2. Jinx 😆
@Kineer the 'Porthole' components do NOT change the interior, except 'some' furniture may be deleted if it overlaps the floor mount.

Honestly, not sure if they come back but they definitely go away for a while. :)

Thanks. I don't think I got to fully optimizing the functional modules (engines). Sounds like you have a good plan too.
Interesting , Thank You . Another fine upgrade
Glad you like it!
Those security NPC's must be a new Bug/Feature. Happens on my "Crossbow V" made from a Wight III.
Since March I think, but they may have gotten worse.
Hay great video ❤ just wondering if anyone else has noticed the outpost delete glitch is back? 😢
I'm not familiar with that issue (or at least not by that name). Will be interested if anyone else knows of it and has seen it return.

I've not run more than +27% on my 'survival' builds but I keep getting distracted by ship videos. :)

Hmm, I just left them. They were gone the next time I returned to the ship.

What's this planet called? 0:57 Also nice vid 👍 def gonna build it
Thanks! It's Nesoi in the Olympus system. Central location on the left side of the map. Also the same planet as the Dream home if you take that Trait.
@@kineer Thank you!
MURDER😂
No one saw me do it (I assume you are talking about the Security staff).
