I always thought the Wild Battle Theme was too short and boring to make for a good metal cover - should've known better than to doubt your ability to turn every song into the most badass pieces of metal godness! This was fuckin' epic! But when it comes to Pokémon themes, I gotta say, the Champion Theme from Pokémon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum, or Cynthia's Battle Theme, is one of many reasons why Cynthia is the best character in the entire franchise! Glad to see it made a brief cameo that didn't overstay its welcome. I think it would be grating on the ears if you just heard that section playing constantly on any real instrument. Just goes to show that: A: The people who worked on gameboy specific soundtracks really understood the "instrument" that they were writing for. Those chromatic sections sound great on the original Red and Blue soundtrack. B: You've got a keen ear for writing renditions of songs that both sound good and pay homage to the original versions. I think many people would just be like "It has to be a 1 for 1 cover. We must chromatic the ENTIRE TIME that it's supposed to be there regardless of whether it sounds good or not." C: Pokemon music is badass in a variety of styles.
