This is from one of the most pioneering reverb/delay experiments of all time! Fish Rising rocks, and should be regarded as a vanguard event in electric guitar music!

Steve is one of the most underrated players to come out of the 70's flying under the radar with Gong & on his own with the exception of lovers of underground music & bands like Hawkwind & Camel. A creative musician of the highest caliber.

Fish rising was early , like 73 I think , or possibly 74-5 ........ I saw Gong in 73 and this was part of their sound then . You wouldn't believe how they could synchronise their synth , light show and overall sound envelope to create integrated throbbing shape colour and sound ... real pioneers of the psychedelic . No-one influenced this sound except Hendrix .

Perfect. I'm right next to a river being "restored" (damn removal etc.) to allow for the salmon to come up to spawn.

I have a song about salmon that I wrote on my youtube (A River Runs Through It), but it's certainly not rockin' like this fine piece.

Cameron Roxburgh Not really; though it does sound similar.
Yours is a good question - like saying Stevie Ray or Robin Trower sounded like Hendrix. The best answer to such a question is that Stevie Ray Vaughn, Robin Trower and Hendrix drank from the same well; they were all very much influenced by the same sophisticated urban blues players like Albert and Freddie King as well as star blues players like Buddy Guy and Hubert Sumlin.
Frank Zappa started playing American R&B, same as many British players - "Hurdy-Gurdy Man" featured Jeff Beck and most British guitar-toting youngsters(including, obviously, Steve Hillage) played it many times while honing their chops and perfecting their craft.
Most of all, though, Zappa and Hillage shared a Beautiful Open-Minded approach to music that shared an obviously high standard of excellence, so good musicianship abounds in both these great players' music.
It's great to hear that you are interested in both these talented people - maybe it would interest you to know that QuestLove - of Jimmy Fallon's Roots Crew - is a huge fan of British Progressive band Gentle Giant . . !

No real Zappa influence. Hillage is a genius.
Zappa's great, don't get me wrong.
