Please update this video to give folks a heads up that the Air and Space museum is now requiring passes (which are free on their website). Passes are available 6 weeks in advance and it looks like they go quickly. There are a limited number of passes also made available in the morning and afternoon on the day of as well. I watched this video a couple of months back, but missed this critical piece of data, which means I have to try my luck with those morning passes. Wish me luck!

Yes, the renovation has been a long time coming. I recall going there as a child and it looked fairly the same as an adult some 30 years later. Let’s hope that the improvements enhance the museum experience even more.

That’s a good question. I will have to say it depends. If you really enjoy aviation you could spend an entire week there. However if you don’t have a great deal of interest then yes, four hours is about right.
That is a real difficult question to answer. I believe 2 to 3 hours is a reasonable expectation. However, if you really enjoy the subject matter of the museum you’re going to feel rushed. If you just want to get an overall understanding of the main ideas and exhibits then 2 to 3 hours should be sufficient. Most folks who like to learn tend to enjoy being there the entire day.
I'm planning a visit in April next year and I see that now you have to book a free ticket with a time slot. Does this mean that these extremely long lines are now history?
Not likely. The museum is currently under construction and when it opens I am positive that people will rush to see what the new exhibits look like. I wouldn’t hold my breath.
Yes, I agree that this line is out of control. It just goes to show how motivated people are to experience this museum. I hope once the renovations are completed it will add more capacity. Thanks again for watching and as always I appreciate your support.

Hi, currently the museum is closed. They are doing heavy renovations and I plan to do a brand new video in October showing the new museum.

The renovation of the air & space museum on the mall has made the displays more of a general science museum and not as aviation focused.
