In this video we have created, Amavasai tharpanam in Tamil with procedure and mantras to carry out when the mother is Alive. On seeing the video, you can perform Amavasai tharpanam by yourself. Sages, Saints, and also other experts always emphasized on the significance of Amavasai tharpanam. To put it in very simple terms, tharpanam normally means offering or giving something to one’s genetic or ancestor beings to satisfy them. Many people used to believe that tharpanam is as powerful as any other worshipping procedure. Tharpanam which is carried out on the day of Amavasya is known as Amavasai tharpanam.
In case if you already know the conventional way of performing tharpanam along with the traditional mantras or if you are a person of family traditions who believe in certain practices carried out by all your family members, you should carry out your traditional practices. On the other hand, if you are not sure on how to carry out the tharpanam procedure in order to satisfy your dead ancestors, here is an easy way to do that by yourself. Amavasya tharpanam with mantras done in such a way which consists of two different parts. One is karunya tharpanam and the other one is pitru tharpanam.
According to the first method, a person needs to pay many spiritual debts everyday. One such debt is what we have to pay to our ancestors. Pitru tharpanam is performed on the day of Amavasai and it is one such way to pay this debt. This kind of worship procedure including mantras does not take that much time and it can be performed within 10 minutes or so.
Going by the names, Pitru Tharpanam means satisfying one’s predecessors. In this part of tharpanam, we perform tharpanam to around 12 of our recently departed ancestors. These may be your parents, grandparents, great grandparents, and so on. People who come in your parental lines are the only ones who are included in this tharpanam procedure. So, your aunts, uncles, or cousins are not included from Pitru tharpanam worshippings. Our uncles, aunts, and cousins are however included when we perform karunya tharpanam.
The second part of tharpanam is called Karunya tharpanam. In this tharpanam procedure, we include our departed friends, relatives, creatures, pets, animals, and other departed beings.
