Your dog running the wrong way when you threw the ball made me actually laugh out loud. You didn't even try to trick him! Katie, you should be careful when you lift. You tend to lift a lot with your back, I would really hate to see you injure yourself.
I agree. It only takes once and the pain lasts a life time. I know this for a fact.
Absolutely! Take care! Been a year in recovery. Many ups and downs, mostly down.
Yep, one move the wrong way, especially if the muscles are already tired, pain meds for a very long time to come.
Lift using legs, it's easier on hip joints too.
One of those things where you go, dang, I wish I hadn't done that. @@ninemoonplanet Never just grab something and yank. Give it a monents thought. But, if you work until your tired the odds against you go up a large percent.
And a slip disc can happen too.
You are possibly the hardest working young woman I watch!! Amazing
Some People see cutting & splitting Wood as work... Call me sick, but I actually look forward to it.
It's physical & mental therapy. It's one of the many things I do to stay in great shape. I'm 55 & I feel
better than I did when I was 25. Love your Videos & look forward to them every week. Cheers 🍻
Two words for Katie, Bad Ass!! your such a hard working Lady, love to see you helping your spouse. ❤️
Oh my gosh I just swoon looking at your intros. You’re both wonderful people and we’re so lucky to share this experience with you. Thank you so much for the extra work bringing us along.
Wonderful to see young people do hard work & save money on heat. I am not physically able to put in that much work splitting wood, so I spend an average of $0.75 per day on natural gas heating my home. I do sit out in a chair and split some for my firepit.
Y'all my fav channel,i love watching y'all work together
Amazing hard work splitting that wood!! Katie way to take care of your animals!
Here's a tip for you Katie, when you reverse with that little trailer on the 4x4 and because the drawbar is so short, it reacts very quickly when reversing so you quickly get into a jacknife situation, a longer drawbar does not react as quickly, so it is easier to reverse a big trailer than a little one, try to make very little movements of the steering and when it starts to turn get the steering back off, you will soon get the hang of it, practice makes perfect as they say, hope this makes sense.
You need the solar powered fence charger I have its 6jules
Katie, you are a beast, Greg struck gold when he found you. Hard working and beautiful, a great combo!
A beast. Is a bit cruel I think she's more way more. Great people so nice to watch.
Sometimes the 12 Volt plug-in has a fuse inside of it . Push the center part in and turn to get at the fuse . Happy Trails from the Eastern Canada to Western Canada .
I like how much you care for your animals and am so glad that the chicken recovered and got back to normal again. I'm confident your nurturing and care had a great deal to do with that Katie, animals can sense that and respond. I'm sure it feels good to have the fire wood to the level you desired. Now you are ready for winter and can move on to the next thing on the list. Have a great week ahead and be safe. Larry, Central Valley, Ca.
It’s amazing how EVERYTHING you do is to protect YOUR way of life! I wish I were younger, I’d definitely try this off grid life! Love your videos!
What an important tool the quad and trailer are. I love the feeling of having the yearly wood need prepared. I was going to say what a great way to end the day...in the hot tub😊
I'll give you a hint. I use birch bark instead of paper to light a fire in the stove. Birch bark is the most widely associated kindling - and for good reason. Its structure resembles paper, often used to light fires by "laymen". It catches the flame quickly, and due to the content of essential oils, it burns even when it is moist. A basic choice in deciduous forest.
Hello, my dears. It's nice to see your videos. You have a lot of work but I think you also enjoy it. Many people dream of living like this. It's hard work but also a bit of freedom. Many greetings from Germany. And I
For the water buckets(to keep another bird from nearly freezing to death) make a floating top. Take some ridged wire, attach something(s) that will float, Maybe some plastic balls, pool noodles, or something like that. place them so the wire is barely covered with water. Then the birds can go in, and only get their feet wet and not their whole body.
You have great security with that much firewood. One less thing to worry about. Happy to hear your chicken pulled through after some TLC. Looking forward to your winter and hope you have all buttoned up and ready for it. By the way I've eaten a lot of wild game and when I see that bear I see a juicy burger. The leanest healthiest meat ever. Be safe !
Katie has definitely come along way to splitting wood from a video awhile ago when she was unable to take that ax with a powerful swing she now has -- congratulations. The pigs are growing nicely, as well as the homestead and the wood pile....all your hard work is paying off.
you may need to build a second wood shed so you can alternate year to year and one will always be dried and seasoned
Another great video, 👍 Michael, Ireland 🇮🇪
The quad and trailer was worth the money. I was just thinking uou guys are ahead on the wood pile and it looked almost done. Last year you all were working on the water in the cold. I am so happy you all are getting a head. I know your waiting on supplies for the deck than the siding goes up. Glad your silke chicken was ok.
Good morning guys hope you guys having a good morning hope you're having a good day so say hi to the animals and I catch you later❤
Hello guys
Good job filling your wood shed! We just got ours built and filled too. It's so satisfying to know that we can heat our home through the winter.
That was a hellgrammite or dobsonfly that you picked up out of the water. Best fishing bait ever!
I seen a post about putting a piece of copper pipe in the water to keep the algae away
It is great to see what you two have accomplished. It is very enjoyable to witness what you do and how you do it. You compliment each with your work ethics. Blessings to you.
The two of you are incredible people. I don’t think a lot of people know just how hard one must work to keep up a homestead, especially totally off the grid !! The two of you have come so far already…… may god continue to bless you ❤🙏✌🏼
nice video nice place nice people thanks
You two are doing so good on your property
Pigs stink don't they Katie . A farmer friend of mine raised pigs for meat and auction .One time he needed someone to help him on their farm so I helped him for 2 month's. I kind of got used to the smell but not totally. I helped him and his Mom hand dig a new well ,build crates for pregnant pigs to feed their new born. And for helping them over the summer they gave me an old 1949 International pick-up that was stuck for years in a dried up swamp on their land. I pulled it out with mt Dad's tractor towed it home and actually got it running . I used it to pick up stray bale's of hay and straw . It was my first vehicle .
You succeed in life with hard work and determination and you 2 have just that! Great work guys and keep on striving so you can be thriving! ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
That little trailer is what you say fully loaded. You are a real workhorse Katie and so is Greg you 2 are so good for each other. Thank you for sharing your very beautiful lives with all.❤
Katie, your are one strong woman lifting all those logs.
Dang Katie, U maxed out that trailer! ❤💪👍
Great work on the firewood...... and great for your pipes !!!!!
Nice job getting all the firewood back in one load. Cut and follow. Thanks for sharing
Ah the bitter sweet of the changing seasons. For me it's dread about the Saskatchewan winter to come. Oh well, it's one day closer to spring.
I have come to appreciate your blogs!
Waiting for your start on the siding. Enjoy watching your video
So pleased your chicken is doing okay and what a trooper to lay an egg too, bless her. Really good preparedness for the winter x
2 great people thanks for sharing
Pretty cool...ready for the cold season😊🎉
Loving your videos. Your team work and the authenticity of your offgrid experience is inspiring blessings. ❤
Nice Job Katie!! You too Greg!!
I know that makes ya feel relieved with firewood done! Glad the chicken is ok. A piece of cattle panel over the chickens water bowl would keep them from falling in, but they can still get water even if it’s low in the pan. Just a thought.
Fantastic team work
Glad your chicken is better, thanks to your attentive care💜 Love hearing that your heating bill is paid for>>great ending 👌💯 Congratulations ❗️
The wagon on your quad can carry a lot Katie, wow!!! 😮 That’s impressive!! Love you guys and have an awesome week!! ❤
You two make a great team, chopping them logs.👏👏👏👏
Drive a second ground rod in the ground I bought a solar charger for my lot and like Greg it restarted my heart a extra beat.
Well done
Color coordinated, brown & black. Changing seasons, preparing for winter.
For checking the electric fence I would take a long blade of grass and put the end of it on the wire and slide it slowly, shortening the distance your hand is away from the wire, you can feel the charge without it hurting.
I have watched all your videos and I am very impressed how you do this I wish I have done this before
Put a door on the backside of the woodshed so you can access the most seasoned wood first cleaner chimneys with all the fir you burn every bit counts
Katie your jinga wood stacking skills are strong.
You should invest in a small elasticated cargo net that hooks onto the quad trailer it will be great in the woods and on the drive.
Great video and choice of music!
I want the energy you guys have!!!! Gonna try that AG1...it's certainly doing wonders for you two!!
You should look into a putting a float switch on your water pump so it doesn't run when there is no water to pump. Running a pump dry can cause it to fail, or worse. Depending on your setup you would need to determine if you need an NO (Normally Open) or NC (Normally Closed) switch.
Awesome video
Very interesting 🤔 Content guys. Thanks 👍 for sharing, an be blessed.
If it is a garbage bare it will never go away
Katie your a beautiful tough cookie 🤭 super strong and smart 👍🏽 you go girl
More can go into the wood shed!!!
Hi from New-Brunswick, Canada -- You guys are amazing! Katie, you always have that great smile even thru rough times. Greg is lucky to have a partner who always wants to learn about everything. Nice to hear you call things by their correct name and it's always interesting to hear you explain things. One last thing, not to be weird or flirtatious, but I'm sure many people will agree with me, since nobody seems to dare say it I will, you have beautiful eyes!
So the intro change a few weeks back. Like it!!! This vid had the great out tro. Great work K. And to the both of you. Thank you. Enjoy my time watching! A+!!! 👍🏻👍🏻😎😎😎
Thank you
Cog Hill Farms had a remedy for that wet chicken 0: He did a video on it, just put hog wire on top to keep the ducks out and the chickens out
If you also use the slab wood from the mill you will have more firewood than you can use
Perfect 👌
Found out the hard way it was on? Oh my word my love😮
You should put some "unwelcome"mats around the pig pen. Some 2 by 12 planks with nails sticking straight up should do the trick.
Good work❤😊🎉
Regarding "over loading", if your not on public road , as log as you don't hear grinding or "other" "unusual" sounds i would say your ok, rule of tum if no strange sounds your probably fine... at lest regarding of road stuff.
Really nice
If you guys had a skid steer with a grapple bucket you could really clean up good in those woods and make hay with the fire wood gathering for sure. Might want to think about that in the future.
I actually enjoy these short clips more sometimes, they show the many ways you get your future warmth and preparations done.
The extra oomph on the electric fencing should deter the bear. They really don't like noisy things, maybe put a trip wire with old pots across where the bear goes frequently.
Katie, you’re a pretty amazing woman!
Wow so wonderful, thanks for sharing and have a beautiful rest of your day and a good night rest, sending love and hugs, bye! 😅😉🥰🤗💜💜💜
I'm praying the silky has a complete recovery, it shows that ya'll care deeply for your animals. Which brings me to the bear...I'm not sure the electric fence will keep him out and stop messing with your pigs. He may be "casing the joint", and will grab one through or over the fence at one point. I say put him down and enjoy some bear burgers...😂😅 Love ya'll ❤
The silkie is just fine. Extra fluffy after her bath.
The bear seems to have moved on to somewhere it can grt food
@ThisOffGridLife Cool! Glad to hear that. I've seen bears reach over fencing to grab sheep and piglets, was just worried about him hanging out.
❤Hello dear friends. I send you my sincere regards. ❤
good night my sister
..you should be able to get a fence tester fairly cheaply. Failing that, hold a piece of succulent grass stem between your finger and thumb, touch the end of the stem on the fence wire, and gradually move your hand closer to the wire with the stem touching the wire all the time. As you get nearer, you can feel a gentle shock on you thumb joint..
Nice job on the firewood....hopefully eventually you can invest in a wood splitter! Glad the chicken was ok!
Katie, hot lead is also a great deterrent to bears if the electric fence doesn't work , I know that goes against the grain for you'se guys, but works as a last resort !!
Tavuklar gıda için çok önemli yemleri kaplıca ,buğday ,mısır🖐️🖐️🧿🌷❤️
Enjoyed watching, keep up the good work 😅🍁🍁🍁💜
It’s only overloaded if you can’t put anymore on 😂. Thanks for sharing great job as always
Wow Katie, your video seemed so real, I thought the smell of the pig pen was going to come through my PC. Just an idea, could you cut the tree in log lengths to fit into the saw mill and cut a cross hair design and then use the chain saw to cut to length, just wondering? Thank you for the fantastic video, they're always full of a verity of interesting off grid experiences. MORE PLEASE.
Glad your chicken revived, good to buffer up that fence against the stinking bear and happy you got your wood ready for the season 😅
velmi zajímavé
I use nothing less the a 6.4 Juill fence charger with 2 10 foot ground rods 10 feet a part
Wow another important job done! Btw you two are dressed in the same colors ❤❤❤
Still say you need a cover over the sawmill and then probably one for lumber storage
Once you backup the lawn trailer we'll you could be a yard hoster at a warehouse semi trailers are easy to back into doors they don't move so fast and easy to jacknife
I've been watching you when you only had 1500 fans. Very impreseed with what you have accomplished. I have a couple of you tub Chanels you might what to look at. They have a great system for cleaning and processing chickens. laid back living and The Loren's. Why don't you use a log splitter? Look forward to watching many more videos.
Dave👌
That water bug thing you found looked like a helgarmite
