The challenge of learning the skills necessary to create on screen what I picture in my head is a constant motivator. I also try to compensate for my boring and goofy personality by offering better photography, interesting and different visual perspectives, etc. It can be exhausting because I work 100% alone, but comments like yours really help! Nice piece 👍🏻 my problem never boils down too the potential of 10mm, it always comes down to the cost of becoming proficient with the caliber. I made the mistake of falling in love with .357 SIG and I'm paying dearly for it 😆
I have a full-size 1st edition Springfield XD chambered in .357sig that I bought in 2003, I have thrown a lot of rounds through it, it has never once jammed, stovepiped, misfired, it’s so reliable. I will definitely be looking into this gun.
8:28 the flared magazine well can actually be removed which I did as soon as I got mine. I also left the extended magazine base plates on and it feels a lot more comfortable in the hand after that. Additionally when you remove the flared mag well it can also fit the 15 round magazine which I ordered as my backup.
There's lots of review vids out there but I can't stand watching them. This is one of my few go to channels and I very much appreciate the content and professionalism!! Always great reviews!
I have a G20, G40, Kimber Rapide and XDM compact all in 10mm. I had to lose the mag well on the XDM and get the 15 round back strap specific extended mags to make it fit my needs but now it’s my favorite and I can feed it anything without an issue. The glocks are as reliable but in my opinion not as comfortable and I haven’t shot the Kimber yet.
Finally! I bought a G29 last year and have nothing but constant failures to feed with it. The first and last Glock I will ever buy. I love my full size XDM 10mm but its a little too big for concealed carry. This one will be a nice addition! Great video!

Never had a Glock and never will. I love my XDM in 40 but for everyday carry I pack a 1911 in 10mm I also load the sig V Crown for them. If I can get one I will be buying the XDM elite in 10mm. I normally carry my 1911 in my back pocket just covered up by my shirt tails. This XDM I think would much more conspicuous. I haven't yet run my loads through a chronograph but I bet I can get that 180 gr Sig V Crown up to 14-15 hundred FPS. I will have to do a bunch of testing to find the sweet spot but it will be worth it. At this point I just load to Hodgdon specs! When I start blowing out primers I have a starting point to look for accuracy.

I love the Xd series and have written Springfield about making a XDS 10mm. They told me that it wasn't possible but I am happy that they made a compromise. Obviously I was not the only one that wanted a compact 10.
Sweet seeing a new compact 10mm those Springfields ergonomics are good but something about those slide serrations just dont do it for me I'm sticking with the g29 with no mini red dot.
I do want this. I love 10mm. It’s my favorite round. I love my XDM 10mm 5.25. I didn’t bout the Glock 29 compact because no optic. So yes, I need this in my life.
Very excited about this gun Years ago when the Colt Elite came on the scene Springfield made a 10mm called the Omega. Great gun but not a carry gun. It had a ported slide made in Germany. After 911 the slides could no longer be brought into the US. Springfield bent over backwards to fix it. I had them make it in to 45acp Its the best shooting 45 i own Anyway ancient history there I think Springfield is a stand up company and does what it takes to keep a customer happy Love the video love the channel Thanks for sharing 👍
I always view the 10mm as a .40 Magnum LOL...guess that works. And I always loved the XD/XD-M series, how it fits, feels and shoots, yet I never got one, odd. Maybe this is next!
just like you, i love 10mm my S&W M&P compact shoots fantastic but is must a little too large to carry. So I oped for the xdm compact to carry. both in 10mm, you can go wrong. great video, keep it up!
Great video and commentary Justin. I'm a small FFL and just ordered this pistol in anticipation of it becoming my new EDC. I didn't order the Hex DragonFly optic in hopes that at some near point a more perfect fitting optic will become available for the top of the tapered slide on this weapon. Intend to run a Viridian X5L Gen 3 w/ HD camera on the rail and most likely have Detroit Holsters make an IWB carry holster. Looking forward to this weapon arriving in this week's shipment. I own a Glock 29 but it is not stock and I love it, but I had to make it better than it was stock. It was very snappy but add some pinky extensions and a weighted recoil spring and no more super snappy 10mm. Now it’s better than ever would love to compare it to the Springfield xdm elite 10mm.
I believe Sootch showed both side by side. Although the ergos on the XDM are better than the G29, the G29 is still significantly smaller from the looks of it.
Bro, I understand focusing totally! Once did a terrible 10 shot 5in grouping at 10 yards followed immediately by an odd 3.5in grouping at 25 yards. Buddy of mine in the next stall said “You were rapid firing and not focusing at 10”

Got one a few days ago. It became my favorite gun of many after the first mag. I have been a Glock guy, carried a gen 4 and then 5 19 mos for years. Now this is my new carry and I can’t see myself going back. Side by side, they are the same size basically. The quality and tolerances on xdm elite are better. The trigger is great right out of the box. My 19 has a $200 trigger and I like the xdm better. I took the magwell (which looks cool but is awkward to grip) off and I can get a full grip with the 11 round mags. Large/ average hands. Now I’m thinking of getting the 9mm version for my wife. Still keeping the Glock though lol. If you can find one, grab it. You won’t be disappointed.
@@tjkeegan470 I paid 569 for mine without the optic and I much prefer iron sights versus a red dot. I just got lucky in my gun shot had one without the optic already.

Great review. I got the xdm elite in 9mm and love it. I can’t wait to pick one up in 10. I think Springfield just surpassed Glock. It’ll probably retire my G20 after buying this one.
Springfield (XD) and for sure CZ surpassed Glock. For this reason both manufacturers get alot rhetoric thrown against them (XD more so) by Glock guys. Warrior Poet made a joke about CZ after testing the P10 because it was threatening the supremacy of his beloved Glock and some folks somehow missed the satire completely. They now say "duh, CZ is a hipster gun and XD is anti second amendment, durrrr"
I have been looking for a conceal carry ready 10mm for a good while. I also wanted one that I could hike with that wasn’t a boat anchor. This looks like just the ticket. Nice video!
Besides them being 10mm, the greatest things, IMO, about the G20/29/40 is that they are 3 guns in 1; 10mm, .40cal, & .357SIG. You can fire the 10 & the .40 out of the same barrel and convert into a .357 by just swapping out the barrel. I trust that the Springfield can or will do the same thing.

@@ghodge82 Dude! The 10mm and the .40 cal are the same bullet. The 10 has a slightly longer cartridge and a stronger primer than the .40, because the 10 has more powder. And yes, it is safe. The 40 will cycle and the rounds will go down range.
I love my Glocks, but they need to produce a Gen 5, optics ready 10mm line. I am interested in the Springfield. I like the match barrel on the XDM, I wonder how it will handle hard cast?

@What's Up? full sized is better for me. I don't own any compact mags so that point is moot. A bigger gun is going to be inherently more controllable. A longer barrel will produce greater velocity. My hands fit a full sized gun better. I have no reason to compromise and get a less than ideal gun if I don't have to.
Justin great presentation. My reasons for not purchasing springfields xd handguns in the past was because of the "made in Croatia " proudly printed on the frame. Its not xenophobic, because my Glock says Austria on its slide :). In your presentation I see they printed it on the magazine. Happy to see a 10mm handgun, I am tired of 9mm everywhere because the FBI could not hit their target :)

Shake awake technology is pretty much useless in a carry fire arm. If you are constantly moving it is constantly on. The lasers I have are great but you have to change the batteries every few weeks. I have several Sig Romeo5 shake awake but the one in my truck I turn off since every time you hit a bump it go's active. That is not an issue on a AR platform since it will co witness your iron sights. Even if you don't get it turned on center of sight center mass you will hit the target at most combat ranges. It will not be precision but it will put the hurt on a bad guy!
Interesting thought. I don't know the numbers on that frame, and whether it would handle the pressures of 10mm (which are quite considerable), but I agree it would be cool.
@@JustinOpinionChannel I don’t think so. It’s chambered in 9mm and I don’t think the slide or grip would fit the barrel or the magazines. I wish the XD-M was da/sa. I prefer a da/sa for carry.

Yep. One of the other channels I follow said in an unrelated video they would be reviewing a compact 10mm that had them very intrigued. That was 2 days ago..they are Glock guys. Now we know. I think Justin tipped me over the edge
It's physics. For example a Glock 29 is chunky enough to handle it and when loaded will weigh about a half pound more than the Glock 27 and can very well be more pleasant to shoot despite the larger caliber. I find that to be the case in my personal experience.
The optic makes it bulky. I would carry without it. The recoil looks a little bit much than what I'm use to. My Glock 29 had to be modified to handle recoil in that small frame. I'd like to see rapid fire at close range.

Against bipedal threats, may I suggest Liberty Defense? The recoil and flip go to almost ZERO. I use it in 9 & 45. I have some in 10, but haven't tried it. Question: it seems you are spending time searching for the point in the optic. Is that the 10mm? Or is that a normal thing? I don't do that with 9 or 45. Not being rude, I just don't shoot much 10mm

My XDM elite 4.5" is my softest shooting 9mm so it's good to hear this translates over to the 10mm.
I got the 4.5 version. Fde with threaded barrel. I really like the dove tail safety.

Interesting tip Justin! I was told that the old holsters wouldn't work because of the ambi slide release. I'll have to check this out once I get mine.

@@tjkeegan470 I paid 569 for mine without the optic and I much prefer iron sights versus a red dot. I just got lucky in my gun shot had one without the optic already.
I don't have the ELITE in 10 mm, but my EDC is a XDM in 9mm. Awesome functioning handguns for sure.

Great review. I got the xdm elite in 9mm and love it. I can’t wait to pick one up in 10. I think Springfield just surpassed Glock. It’ll probably retire my G20 after buying this one.
Springfield (XD) and for sure CZ surpassed Glock. For this reason both manufacturers get alot rhetoric thrown against them (XD more so) by Glock guys. Warrior Poet made a joke about CZ after testing the P10 because it was threatening the supremacy of his beloved Glock and some folks somehow missed the satire completely. They now say "duh, CZ is a hipster gun and XD is anti second amendment, durrrr"

I have been looking for a conceal carry ready 10mm for a good while. I also wanted one that I could hike with that wasn’t a boat anchor. This looks like just the ticket. Nice video!
Besides them being 10mm, the greatest things, IMO, about the G20/29/40 is that they are 3 guns in 1; 10mm, .40cal, & .357SIG. You can fire the 10 & the .40 out of the same barrel and convert into a .357 by just swapping out the barrel. I trust that the Springfield can or will do the same thing.

@@ghodge82 Dude! The 10mm and the .40 cal are the same bullet. The 10 has a slightly longer cartridge and a stronger primer than the .40, because the 10 has more powder. And yes, it is safe. The 40 will cycle and the rounds will go down range.

My EDC gets switched between the SA XDM 5.25 in both 10mm and 9mm. I've been considering the G29 for lighter carry and this REALLY has me intrigued.

@What's Up? that's subjective. What is optimal for one, is not optimal for everyone.
@What's Up? full sized is better for me. I don't own any compact mags so that point is moot. A bigger gun is going to be inherently more controllable. A longer barrel will produce greater velocity. My hands fit a full sized gun better. I have no reason to compromise and get a less than ideal gun if I don't have to.
Justin great presentation. My reasons for not purchasing springfields xd handguns in the past was because of the "made in Croatia " proudly printed on the frame. Its not xenophobic, because my Glock says Austria on its slide :). In your presentation I see they printed it on the magazine. Happy to see a 10mm handgun, I am tired of 9mm everywhere because the FBI could not hit their target :)

Shake awake technology is pretty much useless in a carry fire arm. If you are constantly moving it is constantly on. The lasers I have are great but you have to change the batteries every few weeks. I have several Sig Romeo5 shake awake but the one in my truck I turn off since every time you hit a bump it go's active. That is not an issue on a AR platform since it will co witness your iron sights. Even if you don't get it turned on center of sight center mass you will hit the target at most combat ranges. It will not be precision but it will put the hurt on a bad guy!

Interesting thought. I don't know the numbers on that frame, and whether it would handle the pressures of 10mm (which are quite considerable), but I agree it would be cool.
@@JustinOpinionChannel I don’t think so. It’s chambered in 9mm and I don’t think the slide or grip would fit the barrel or the magazines. I wish the XD-M was da/sa. I prefer a da/sa for carry.

I truly enjoyed your informative video on the XDM 10mm compact. My first gun was the XDM 9mm with 4.5 inch barrel. I also have the XDM 40 cal. I missed it on the video, is the optic included? It's physics. For example a Glock 29 is chunky enough to handle it and when loaded will weigh about a half pound more than the Glock 27 and can very well be more pleasant to shoot despite the larger caliber. I find that to be the case in my personal experience.
After market support? Night sights? After market threaded barrels?
I'm sure support will be there - the XDM Elite is a very popular model. Sights are already available, and barrels probably would be soon.

The optic makes it bulky. I would carry without it. The recoil looks a little bit much than what I'm use to. My Glock 29 had to be modified to handle recoil in that small frame. I'd like to see rapid fire at close range.

Against bipedal threats, may I suggest Liberty Defense? The recoil and flip go to almost ZERO. I use it in 9 & 45. I have some in 10, but haven't tried it.
Question: it seems you are spending time searching for the point in the optic. Is that the 10mm? Or is that a normal thing? I don't do that with 9 or 45. Not being rude, I just don't shoot much 10mm

I'm trying to find one but none of the GS have it yet when it come to self-defense ammo I have always liked Underwood.
Palmetto State Armory has the non- Red Dot version free shipping. Personally I don’t like red-dots on that much recoil.
